What would you give for 5 minutes of absolute power? / ¿Que darias por 5 minutos de poder absoluto?
It is the phrase with which they promoted this 2020 production in social networks, when I first saw the trailer I thought it was a new universe of superheroes or something better some combination of multiverses, but when I saw the movie I realized that it was something very different from what the trailer painted. But is project power worth watching? Let's find out.
Es la frase con la que promocionaron esta produccion del 2020 en las redes sociales, yo cuando vi por primera vez el trailer pense que se trataba de un nuevo universo de superheroes o algo mejor alguna convinacion de multiversos, pero cuando vi la pelicula me di cuenta de que era algo muy distinto de lo que pintaba el trailer. Pero ¿vale la pena ver proyect power? Averiguemoslo.

The story of project power is set in the near future in New Orleans, where a new drug (POWER) that gives 5 minutes of absolute power to whoever takes it, is hitting the market as a test, quickly the population becomes addicted and begins to create a problem that becomes uncontrollable.
The main character of project power is Art (Jamie Foxx) who is a retired military man who desperately seeks to get to the source that manufactures and distributes Power, as it involves something he loves very much.
As a secondary character we have Robin (Dominique Fishback) who is a small-time dealer who sells power to help her mother with medicine and food, her dream is to be a great rap singer, as she has talent.
And finally we have Frank (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) a gray or corrupt cop, since he defends the law and protects the citizens but is a constant consumer of power, Frank meets art after his police commander told him that art is who manufactures and distributes the drug, so he decides to go after him but little by little he discovers the truth behind power.
La historia de proyecto power se desarrolla en un futuro cercano en New Orleans, donde una nueva droga (POWER) que le otorga 5 minutos de poder absoluto a quien la toma, esta llegando al mercado como forma de prueba, rapidamente la poblacion se hace adicta y se empieza a crear un problema que se vuelve incontrolable.
El personaje principal de proyecto power es Art (Jamie Foxx) que es un militar retirado que busca desesperadamente llegar a la fuente que fabrica y distribuye Power, ya que esta implicado algo que el ama mucho.
Como personaje secundario tenemos a Robin (Dominique Fishback) que es una dealer de poca monta que vende power para ayudar a su madre con las medicinas y la comida, su sueño es ser una gran cantante de rap, ya que tiene talento.
Y por ultimo tenemos a Frank (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) un policia gris o corrupto, ya que defiende la ley y protege a los ciudadanos pero es un constante consumidor de power, frank conoce a art luego que su comandante de la policia le dijera que art es quien fabrica y istribuye la droga, asi que decide ir tras el pero poco a poco va descubriendo la verdad que se esconde detras de power.
The movie centers on Art's relentless search for his daughter, who has been kidnapped by Teleios, a gang of mobsters who know about Art's daughter's powers and use it to manufacture Power, a drug that gives distinct powers to whoever takes it. Art's daughter has inherited this power since her father was a commander of the army and was one of the original test subjects of Power, to create super soldiers, but as his daughter has the powers without using the pills, they want to study her to know how to make a pill of infinite power.
So art in his search through the distribution chain comes across robin, a small dealer with dreams of being a singer. After finding out important information by killing everyone in a drug safe house, Robin helps Art as he tells him the story of his daughter and why he is undertaking the crusade, at the same time Frank the cop is looking for Art, as his boss told him that it was Art who made the drugs, and Frank as a friend of Robin's tries to find her to keep her away.
Frank and art meet at a power demonstration for some buyers, and after some total carnage, Frank discovers the truth and decides to help art because it will stop the entire supply of power, so they head straight to the source of Teleios' manufacturing, in a port. There, they dust hundreds of guards and thugs, art, frank and robin manage to rescue art's daughter and kill them all to avoid further persecution.
La pelicula se centra en la busqueda implacable de art por su hija, que ha sido secuestrada por Teleios, una banda de mafiosos que saben de los poderes que tiene la hija de art y lo usan para fabricar power una drog que le otorga distintios poderes a quien la tome. La hija de art ha heredado ese Poder ya que su padre era comandante de el ejercito y fue uno de los sujetos de prueba originales de Power, para crear super soldados, pero como su hija tiene los poderes sin hacer uso de las pildoras, quieren estudiarla para saber como fabricar una pildora de poder infinito.
Asi que art en su busqueda por la cadena de distribucion se topa con robin, una pequeña dealer con sueños de ser cantante. Luego de dar con informacion importante al matar a todos en una casa de seguridad de droga, robin ayuda a art ya que le cuenta la historia de su hija y porque esta emprendiendo la cruzada, al mismo tiempo frank el policia esta buscando a art, ya que su jefe le dijo que era art quien hacia la droga, y frank como es amigo de robin trata de encontrarla para que se mantenga alejada.
Frank y art se encuentran en una demostracion de power para algunos compradores, y luego de una carniceria total, frank descubre la verdad y decide ayudar a art porque asi detendra todo el suministro de power, asi que se dirijen directamente a la fuente de fabricacion de Teleios, en un puerto. Alli hacen polvo a cientos de guardias y matones, art, frank y robin logran rescatar a la hija de art y matar a todos para evitar futuras persecuciones.
The good stuff
It's a movie with a somewhat entertaining plot, but it's the special effects that get all the credit for how incredible they are, especially when they show the powers when they take power. Art has the powers of the shrimp gun and when he uses them he vaporizes everything around him. Frank has an invulnerable skin that avoids bullets and deadly blows, Robin never took power so I didn't know what his power was.
Something that also gives points to poroyecto power, is the story that sticks to reality and is accurate in what has to do with drug addictions and corruption in society. They were also realistic in the issue of people who decide to sell drugs in order to have a better life.
Lo bueno
>Es una pelicula con una trama algo entretenida, pero son los efectos especiales los que se levan todo el merito por lo increibles que son, en especial cuando exiben los poderes al tomar power. Art tiene los poderes del camaron pistola y al usarlos evapora a todo lo que hay a su alrededor. Frank tiene una piel invulnerable que evita balas y golpes mortales, robin nunca tomo power asi que no supe cual era su poder.
Algo que tambien le da puntos a poroyecto power, es la historia que se apega a la realidad y es acertada en lo que tiene que ver con las adicciones a las drogas y la corrupcion en la sociedad. Tambien fueron realistas en el tema de las personas que deciden vender droga para poder tener una mejor vida.
The bad thing
The bad thing about this movie is that the story is a little weak and they focus more on killing people or drug trafficking than trying to make a better deal, also they exalt the way of living outside the law as if it were something good and as the quickest solution to get ahead and fulfill dreams. For example robin, she dropped out of school to be a dealer to buy her mom's medicine because legal jobs are very difficult, but she didn't think that through school she could have gained knowledge that would have led her to get a legal job, or other achievements. It is extremely horrible that they are promoting this.
Frank, is just a corrupt addict who catches the bad guys but consumes the product he seizes from them, plus he has close dealings with those outside the law. Something that is obviously wrong as it leads to the further degradation of society. And art is simply a murderer who seeks revenge for those who took his daughter from him, because if we count all the deaths he left behind we run out of fingers, but the worst thing is that frank supports him and never puts him behind bars for having killed so many people.
Lo malo
Lo malo de esta pelicula es que la historia es un poco floja y se centran mas en matar personas o el trafico de drogas que en tratar de hacer una mejor trana, ademas exaltan el modo de vivir fuera de la ley como si fuera algo bueno y como la solucion mas rapida para salir adelante y cumplir los sueños. Por ejemplo robin, dejo la escuela para ser una dealer para comprar las medicinas de su mama ya que en trabajos legales es muy dificil, pero ella no penso que por medio de la escuela pudo haber llegado a obtener conocimiento que la hubiera llevado a conseguir un trabajo legal, u otros logros. Es sumamente horrible que promuevan esto.
Frank, es solo un adicto corrupto que atrapa a los malos pero consume el prodcto que les decomisa, ademas tiene un trato estrecho con quienes estan fuera de la ley. Algo que obiamente esta mal ya que lleva a que la sociedad se siga degradando. Y art es simplemente un asesino que busca venganza por quienes le arrebataron a su hija, ya que si contamos todas las muertes que dejo pues se nos acaban los dedos, pero lo peor es que frank lo apoya y nunca lo pone tras las rejas por haber asesinado a tantas personas.
In conclusion...
...If you want to see a movie where they explore the underworld but as if it were a combination of marvel and reality, then project power is the best option, besides its 114 minutes are worth seeing completely especially for the special effects. It also has great actors like Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who certainly know how to perform as all outlaws. My rating for this movie is 5.2/10 because even though it is exciting, it exalts a way of life that is destroying society and that's why it doesn't teach you anything, so that's why I give it 5.2.
