It's Monday with M for Movies (well only for the Anglo grammar haha) and that's why I wanted to bring you a review and recommendation of a movie with a very interesting theme since it presents a world like another movie called Ready Player One, but from the point of view of the video game characters.
Es lunes con M de Movies (bueno solamente para la gramática anglo jaja) y por eso quería traerles una reseña y recomendación de una película con una temática bastante interesante, ya que se nos presenta un mundo como otra película llamada Ready Player One, pero desde el punto de vista de los personajes del videojuego.
Since we were kids we have all played video games, from a little snake on our phones to FIFA on the PS or Mario on the Nintendo DS. I'm more of an open-world video game like GTA SA, which I like because the possibilities are endless. But something that I find very curious is the NPC characters. In the vast majority of video games we can find, the NPCs are acronyms that stand for the non-playable character, and their purpose is to fill the video game with life.
Desde pequeños todos hemos jugado videojuegos, ya sea la culebrita en los teléfonos hasta el FIFA en la PS o Mario en la Nintendo DS. Personalmente yo soy más de los videojuegos de mundo abierto como GTA SA, el cual me gusta mucho ya que las posibilidades son infinitas. Pero Algo que me parece muy curioso son los personajes NPC. En la gran mayoría de los videojuegos los podemos encontrar, los NPC que son sigla que significan non playable character, y esto tienen como propósito llenar de vida el videojuego.
But what would happen if an NPC gained intelligence of its own and wanted to do something outside of its programming? This is something like if a granny in GTA SA wanted to parachute off a building haha. Well, that's the great concept that explores this wonderful and funny movie FREE GUY where we know the life of Guy an NPC of a popular fictional game called FREE CITY, but the film covers much more than that, as the message and the plot is something extremely interesting and that makes us think about what constantly makes the video game industry.
¿Pero qué pasaría si un NPC cobrara inteligencia propia y quisiera hacer algo que está fuera de su programación? Esto e algo así como si una abuelita en el GTA SA quisiera lanzarse desde un edificio en paracaídas jaja. Bueno ese es el genial concepto que explora esta maravillosa y divertida película FREE GUY donde conocemos la vida de Guy un NPC de un popular juego ficticio llamado FREE CITY, pero la película abarca mucho más que eso, ya que el mensaje y la trama es algo sumamente interesante y que nos pone a pensar en lo que const6antemente hace la industria de los videojuegos.
The plot / La Trama
Free City is a very popular open-world video game that has a lot of similarities with GTA V, players can do whatever they want from robbing banks, killing people, getting achievements, or also streaming. In the game, we meet a character named GUY an NPC who works as a bank teller with no idea that he is living in a video game, but the guy always has the idea of wanting something more than just a routine.
Free City es un videojuego de mundo abierto muy popular que tiene mucho parecido con GTA V, los jugadores pueden hacer lo que quieran desde robar bancos, matar personas, conseguir logros o también streaming. En el juego conocemos a un personaje llamado GUY un NPC que trabaja como cajero de un banco sin tener idea de que está viviendo en un videojuego, pero guy siempre tiene la idea de querer algo más que únicamente una rutina.
Everything changes for Guy one day when he does something he was not programmed for, when a player tries to rob the bank where he works guy tries to stop the robbery, but somehow he gets the thief's sunglasses and from then on he starts to see what the players see and the guy sees that as his chance to change his boring life, but this brings setbacks for the developer of Free city as they are about to launch their 2.0 version and guy starts to generate problems.
Todo cambia para Guy un día que hace algo por lo que no estaba programado, cuando un jugador intenta robar el banco en donde trabaja guy intenta detener el robo, pero de alguna manera queda con las gafas de sol del ladrón y a partir de allí comienza a ver lo que ven los jugadores y guy ve eso como su oportunidad de cambiar su aburrida vida, pero esto trae contratiempos para la desarrolladora de Free city ya que están próximos a lanzar su versión 2.0 y guy comienza a generar problemas.
My thoughts about the film / Mis pensamientos sobre la película
Cast: I can say that it is extremely amazing as it has a wonderful cast, among the names I can highlight are Ryan Reynolds as Guy, Taika Waititi as Antwan, and although they also use actors that are new to me and I have not seen before, if I was surprised to see channing tatum as a video game character of a streamer.
Reparto: Puedo decir que es sumamente increíble ya que tiene un reparto maravilloso, entre los nombres que puedo destacar están Ryan Reynolds como Guy, Taika Waititi como Antwan, y aunque también usan actores que son nuevos para mí y no he visto antes, si me sorprendió ver a channing tatum como un personaje de videojuegos de un streamer.
Soundtrack: It also has a wonderful soundtrack, which reminded me of songs that I hadn't heard for a long time, such as Fantasy Mariah Carey, plus it's fun to see how they use the music in specific scenes of maximum tension or extremely shocking moments.
Soundtrack: También tiene un Soundtrack maravilloso, que me recordó canciones que tenía tiempo sin oír como Fantasy Mariah Carey, además es divertido ver como utilizan las músicas en escenas específicas de máxima tensión o momentos sumamente impactantes.
Visual aspect: It is wonderful how they played with the virtual and physical world, for example, in some scenes of free city you can see advertising everywhere, something we are commonly used to, also the special effects are very well done and when they had to put on stage Dude or tough guy in Latin America, it was extremely funny to see how Ryan Reynolds fought against Ryan Reynolds.
Aspecto Visual: Es maravilloso como jugaron con el mundo virtual y físico, por ejemplo, en algunas escenas de free city se puede ver la publicidad por todos lados, algo a lo que estamos acostumbrados comúnmente, además los efectos especiales están muy bien hechos y cuando tuvieron que poner en escena a Dude o tipo rudo en Latinoamérica, fue sumamente gracioso ver como Ryan Reynolds peleaba contra Ryan Reynolds.
References to other movies: Being a Ryan Reynolds movie it had to be full of references to other epic movies such as Star Wars, marvel or fornite, as we know that Ryan Reynolds loves to leave easter eggs in all his movies, but it's those details that make them more fun.
Referencias a otras películas: Obviamente al ser una película de Ryan Reynolds tenía que estar llena de referencias a otras películas épicas como por ejemplo Star Wars, marvel o fornite, ya que sabemos que a Ryan Reynolds le encanta dejar easter eggs en todas sus películas, pero son esos detalles los que las hacen más divertidas.
Final Opinion / Opinión Final
Speaking from a neutral point of view, Free Guy hits the nail on the head when it comes to the comedy and fiction genre, since the comedy genre these days is extremely saturated or without fresh and creative ideas, it has become extremely boring and monotonous, even the comedy movies that we can see on streaming services or in the cinema are in many cases very predictable or their jokes are extremely recycled and made up. On the other hand, free guy with a current topic which is video games knew how to adapt a comedy movie very well.
Hablando desde un punto de vista neutral, Free Guy da junto en el punto en lo relacionado con el género de comedia y ficción, ya que como el género de comedia en estos días está sumamente saturado o sin ideas frescas y creativas, se ha vuelto sumamente aburrido y monótono, incluso las películas de comedia que podemos ver en los servicios de streaming o en el cine son en muchos casos muy predecibles o sus chistes son sumamente reciclados y maquillados. En cambio, free guy con un tema de la actualidad que son los videojuegos, supieron adaptar muy bien una película de comedia.
In addition, I could see that it was about parodying or criticizing how the vast majority of video games are today, which only seek to kill and get money, instead the video game that Millie/Molotov Girl and Walter "Keys" McKeys were trying to save is a concept that was discarded precisely because no one is interested in seeing something like that, and this is true in real life. Another idea I have about free guy is that it is a movie for the whole family, it has a broad concept that everyone regardless of age can understand, and I know there will be plenty of laughs.
Además, pude ver que se trataba de parodiar o criticar como son la gran mayoría del videojuego hoy en día, que únicamente se busca matar y conseguir dinero, en cambio el videojuego que trataban de salvar Millie/Molotov Girl y Walter "Keys" McKeys es un concepto que fue desechado precisamente porque a nadie le interesa ver algo así, y esto es cierto en la vida real. Otra idea que tengo sobre free guy es que es una película para toda la familia, tiene un concepto amplio y que todos sin importar su edad pueden entender, además las risas sé que no faltaran.
Something negative about the film, well I can say is that they have not yet been pronounced about a second part, there have only been rumors that they wanted to continue with the film, but still nothing official, but it would be extremely interesting to see how this story continues or see what could be the threats in the future, although as we know Antwan would be profiled as the main villain of the second part.
Algo negativo de la cinta, bueno puedo decir es que aún no se han pronunciado acerca de una segunda parte, solo ha habido rumores de que quisieran continuar con la cinta, pero aun nada oficial, pero sí que sería sumamente interesante ver como esta historia continua o ver cuales podrían ser las amenazas en el futuro, aunque como sabemos Antwan se perfilaría como el principal villano de la segunda parte.
So, if you want to enjoy a good movie I recommend Free guy, as it is loaded with comedy, fun, action and epic moments, plus it has a wonderful cast that do not disappoint in the way they bring this movie to life.
