Hello everyone...
A warm greeting to the community of movie lovers, today I wanted to share with you a new section in my blog in this community, where I will be analyzing 2 movies focused on a specific topic, for example this time I will talk about movies that talk about an apocalyptic world. One of them is very good and I'm looking forward to the second part and the other one is so bad that I feel very disappointed to have wasted 2 hours of my life watching it. They are "How it ends " and "Bird Box ", two movies with a similar plot and very excellent actors, but as I mentioned with very different results in the viewer.
Let's start with How it ends, a movie starring Theo James and the legendary Forest Whitaker, this movie is directed by David M. Rosenthal and was released on the Netflix platform in 2018.
To start with the technical details of this film, I can say that the sound section was extremely excellent, since when explosions, earthquakes or chases occur, everything is very enveloping and traps you as a viewer, the same I can say about the visual section, since the landscapes and CGI is good.
As for the story or plot of the film, it is a bit confusing because you can not find a clear direction or sense from the middle of the film onwards. For example when it begins, it introduces the life of Will and Samantha who want to get married and are also expecting a child, but Samantha's father doesn't approve.
Will plans to fly across the country to return to his future wife but strange sounds and earthquakes begin to appear causing confusion among the people. Since Will can't fly to his fiancée, he plans to drive to her, but his fiancée's father also joins the trip even though they don't get along.
So far so good, but when Tom and Will embark on a very long trip by car across the country, the whole movie loses sense, so now they have to fight against other desperate people and even kill some to survive and get to Samantha, on the way they are joined by a third protagonist Ricki who is a mechanic and can help them when the car where they are in trouble.
I say that the movie does not make sense because Ricki just before reaching their destination gets out of the car and we do not see her again, also Will at one point runs out of gas and his father-in-law Tom dies because during an escape they have an accident and Tom breaks his ribs, this makes his lungs collapse, then when Will is very close to reach Samantha, he runs out of gas in the car, and as he can not carry the body of his father-in-law or leave it there on the road, he sprays gasoline that he had in some drums and burns the car with the corpse of his father-in-law inside.
And finally something that doesn't make any sense either, is that they don't mention anywhere what really happened regarding the disaster and how it all started, a secondary character explains that everything is programmed by the government, but the movie never mentions anything about it, and if it wasn't for the appearance of Forest Whitaker I would have never seen it. I give it a 2.4 rating as it is one of the worst movies I have seen about the end of the world.
Now, let's look at the other apocalyptic movie, Bird Box which in this case I take my hat off for being one of the best movies, I could compare it to A Quiet Place, only in Bird box the reason people die is because they open their eyes and look.
Bird Box is also a movie presented on Netflix in 2018, directed by Susanne Bier, where the main characters are Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes and John Malkovich, who's roles are played in such an excellent way that you feel like you are also in the middle of the house in the apocalyptic situation.
The story or plot is not like the usual ones of an explosion or a deadly virus, in this case are some entities that if people see them they take their lives. Now the protagonists have to lock themselves in a house and cover the windows so as not to die while trying to survive among them.
The most intriguing thing about Bird Box is that nowhere in the film do they show what the entities look like, it is not like in a silent place, where at the end they show what the creatures look like, in this case Susanne Bier reserved the form of the entities to give more mystery to the film and the truth is that she succeeded.
Bird Box touches your deepest feelings as they play with something totally new and that had never been seen before in cinema, as it shows that the real monsters are human beings and that we are capable of doing horrible things under the influence of evil entities, that in real life happens all the time, it is something we see around us.
To this movie, for its drama, mystery, suspense and everything it offers, I will give it a 9.7 rating because as I mentioned it is one of the best apocalyptic movies I have seen.

Un cordial saludo a la comunidad de amantes del cine, el día de hoy quería compartir con ustedes una nueva sección en mi blog en esta comunidad, donde estaré analizando 2 películas enfocadas en un tema específico, por ejemplo en esta ocasión hablare sobre películas que hablan sobre un mundo apocalíptico. Una muy buena y de la cual espero con ansias la segunda parte y la otra tan mala que me siento muy decepcionado de haber perdido 2 horas de mi vida viéndola. Se trata de "Hoy It End" y "Bird Box", dos películas con una trama perecida y actores muy excelentes, pero como mencione con resultados en el espectador muy diferentes.
Empecemos con How it ends, una película protagonizada por Theo James y el legendario Forest Whitaker, esta película está dirigida por David M. Rosenthal y fue presentada en la plataforma de Netflix en el 2018.
Para comenzar con los detalles técnicos de esta película, puedo decir que el apartado de sonido fue sumamente excelente, ya que cuando ocurren las explosiones, terremotos o persecuciones, todo es muy envolvente y te atrapa como espectador, lo mismo puedo decir del apartado visual, ya que los paisajes y el CGI es bueno.
En cuanto a la historia o trama de la película, es un poco confusa ya que no le puedes encontrar un rumbo o sentido claro desde la mitad de la película en adelante. Por ejemplo cuando comienza, se presenta la vida de Will y Samantha que quieren casarse y tambien esperan un hijo, pero el padre de Samantha no lo aprueba.
Will planea volar todo el país para regresar con su futura esposa pero comienzan a aparecer sonidos extraños y terremotos que causan confusión entre las personas. Como Will no puede volar hasta donde su prometida, planea ir en vehículo hasta donde está, pero el padre de su novia tambien se suma al viaje aunque no se lleven bien.
Hasta allí está muy bien la película, pero cuando tom y Will se embarcan en un viaje muy largo en carro por todo el país, toda la película pierde sentido, así que ahora tienen que luchar contra otras personas desesperadas y hasta matar a algunas para sobrevivir y llegar hasta donde Samantha, en el camino se les une una tercera protagonista Ricki que es mecánica y los puede ayudar cuando el carro donde estén de problemas.
Yo digo que la película no tiene sentido ya que Ricki justo antes de llegar a su destino se sale del carro y no la volvemos a ver, además Will en un punto se queda sin gasolina y su suegro tom fallece ya que durante una huida tienen un accidente y tom se rompe las costillas, esto hace que sus pulmones se colapsan, entonces cuando falta muy poco para que Will ahora solo llegue a donde esta Samantha, se queda sin gasolina en el carro, y como no puede cargar el cadáver de su suegro o dejarlo allí en el camino, le rocía gasolina que tenía en unos bidones y quema el carro con el cadáver de su suegro adentro.
Y por último algo que tampoco tiene ningún sentido, es que no mencionan por ningún lado que paso realmente con respecto al desastre y como empezó todo, un personaje secundario explica que todo es programado por el gobierno, pero la película nunca menciona nada al respecto, y si no fuera porque aparece Forest Whitaker nunca la hubiera visto. Yo le doy una calificación de 2.4 ya que es una de las peores películas que he visto sobre el fin del mundo.
Ahora, veamos la otra película de cine apocalíptico, Bird Box que en este caso me quito el sombrero por ser una de las mejores películas, yo la podría comparar A Quiet Place, solo que en Bird box la razón por la cual se mueren las personas es por abrir los ojos y mirar.
Bird Box tambien es una película presentada en Netflix en el año 2018, dirigida por Susanne Bier, donde los protagonistas son Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes y John Malkovich, que sus papeles son interpretados de una manera tan excelente que sientes que tu tambien estas en medio de la casa en la situación apocalíptica.
La historia o trama no es como las habituales de una explosión o un virus mortal, en este caso son unas entidades que si las personas las ven se quitan la vida. Ahora los protagonistas se tienen que encerrar en una casa y cubrir las ventanas para no morir mientras tratan de sobrevivir entre ellos.
Lo más intrigante de Bird Box es que nunca en ninguna parte de la película muestran como son las entidades, no es como en un lugar en silencio, donde al final muestran como son las criaturas, en este caso Susanne Bier se reservó la forma de las entidades para darle mayor misterio a la película y la verdad que lo logro.
Bird Box toca tus más profundos sentimientos ya que juegan con algo totalmente nuevo y que nunca se había visto antes en el cine, ya que muestra que los verdaderos monstruos son los seres humanos y que somos capaces de hacer cosas horribles bajo la influencia de entes malvados, que en la vida real pasa todo el tiempo, es algo que vemos a nuestro alrededor.
A esta película, por su drama, misterio, suspenso y todo lo que ofrece le daré una calificación de 9.7 ya que como mencione es una de las mejores que he visto de cine apocalíptico.
