You know i always watch anime, series and films. It's like a drug to me so each day i have to watch at least one episode. A couple of days ago, while i was searching for anime, i stumbled across Log Horizon.
Some of you may already know it but Log Horizon is a kinda old anime, that dates back to 2013. Now the new season was out and to tell you the truth i couldn't remember a single thing. So i did what i had to do and rewatched season 1 and 2 once again.
Generic Info
Log Horizon came out in 2013 and has 25 episodes. It also has 2 other seasons that came out so there is much to see. The studio behind the anime is called Satelight with many known animes in their portfolio like Fairy Tail. It's an action, fantasy anime and its origin is a light novel, not a manga as we are used to.
Plot
There is a popular MMORPG called Elder Tale and just got its newest update, but something happened during that update. Around 30k Japanese gamers are transferred and stuck inside the game with no way out.
The protagonist called Shiroe a college student but a veteran of the game quickly finds 2 of his friends, Naotsugu a tank, and Akatsuki, an Assasin. The town in which most of the players are is in chaos as there are no rules and such.
Soon Shiroe and his friends along with other players are trying to take the city under control and eradicate chaos. Also, soon enough they understand that the ones known as NPCs are now called People of the Land and they have an actual life.
So they will both try to understand the world, the People of the Land as well as find a way to get back home. That won't be easy ofc as many new elements of the game that came out during the Update are shown to everyone, while they are trying to keep up with everything that is going on.
What i Liked and what i Didn't
To be honest the timing for Log Horizon was bad because a year ago Sword Art Online came out. Everyone thought that this anime would be a rip-off of SAO but that wasn't the case. SAO was focused on battle and such but Log Horizon was completely different.
The thing i liked was the character development, as you see most of the characters throughout this journey to be in different phases depending on what was going on. That was pretty cool because it reminded all of us they were actual human beings that tried to surpass tough situations all the time.
Also, i really liked that they have focused on building the city as well as building relationships with other cities, "countries", guilds etc etc. That was amazing because i haven't seen anything like it in any other anime. They actually show what it takes to keep control of a city, the politics and the economics that take place as well as the negotiations and relations with other parties.
The only thing i didn't like was the fight scenes. There were so scarce but i get it. Also, watching the other seasons i believe they understand it as well so they have added some more but not so many, to be honest.
