The Blacklist: One of My Favorite Series

Review by @filotasriza3 · 1961d · of The Blacklist

The time has come to review one of my favorite series that is still ongoing. This is a true masterpiece if you ask me and a show that i watch and follow since episode 1. You know what this means right?

That means, that intead of waiting for Netflix to watch all the episodes together or was someone that discovered it after some seasons were out, i was anxiously waiting the new episode each week.

That was a true pain in the ass because if you know about series, then you know that except that you have to wait each week, they also have some breaks or holidays and then you have to wait more than 2 weeks even months for the new episode. Add the fact that i also has 8 seasons and you can somewhat feel me!

Generic Info

This is a crime/drama/mystery show that has 8 seasons with close to 20 episodes each. There will be also a 9th season and there is also another minie series with 1 season called the Blacklist: Redemption (more about it later).

The creator behind it is Jon Bokenkamp and the popular TV show aired on 2013. They have also 2 nomations for the Golden Globes, among 27 others and have won in 2014 as a Top TV Series on ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Miniseries or Movie on Primetime Emmy Awards.

Last but not least, the stars of the show are the one and only James Spader as well as Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff and Harry Lennix. Let's now dive in the plot and i will try for all of you to keep it SPOILER FREE.

Plot

Imagine the FBI and now imagine that the FBI has a certain list whith the most wanted people. Now imagine the number 1 most wanted person in the world, joining the FBI Headquarters like he is working there and asking for the assisant Director Harold Cooper.

Not only they arrest him but they create a special cell exclusively for him and have a lot of people around him, including the new profiler Elizabeth Keen. The most wanted according to FBI's list is called Raymond 'Red' Reddington (James Spader) and they were searching for him for over 20 years.

So imagine the surpise by watching him walking through the headquarters like it is nothing. Soon while they are talking with him and asking him many whats and whys they come to a conclusion.

Red will only speak with Elizabeth Keen and he will give out names of people that should be in those most wanted list but actually nobody even knows that they are criminals, and not only that, they are on top of the criminal chain. In exchange, he could move around, monitored ofc and he won't be sentenced to death or in a cell to rot.

Ofc it's not that simple because Raymond is a mastermind and have his own personal agenda to take care, which you will find watching all of those season!

What I Liked & What I Didn't

Honestly, i like pretty much anything, the acting, the execution of mostly every episode and ofc the plot twist. Let me tell you 2 things that are really fascinating in my eyes, especially for a series that has 9 seasons.

You will never get bored trust me. This show has one plot twist after the other and they keep until now the mystery element real. The mystery element no matter what everyone says is who the hell this guy is and what exactly he is after. Until now we don't completely know this answer to that question.

The second thing, at least in my eyes is that there is an element of truth in this show. I have seen countless crime series with tasks force and stuff and in most cases the good guys win and save the day. That's not actually happening in Blacklist and let me give you an example.

Raymond may give some names of criminals to the task force of the FBI and at the end of the day they may caught the bad guy but that's not the only thing happening. Raymond may have a reason to give that name out, for example being a competitor to him so he is actually using the taskforce.

In other words not only the "good" guys win but the "bad" guys win as well. Furthemore it comes closer to the reality because it highlights many people who nobody know that they are criminals and have whole criminal empires behind the scenes. It's only some terrorists and gangs criminals there are others as well that we don't about, in real life as well.

The only "bad" thing that i have to say about this show is that in the last seasons they made a change on the script. That change isn't that popular and if you have seen the whole show and you aren't biased you will get it yourself. I don't won't to say more because i don't like spoilers as well!

All in all, it really worths your time and trust me not only you gonna like it but you gonna get hooked with it. I bet that if you start it today, in a month you will reach the last seasons!

Have you watched it? Did you like it?

Hi one of my favorite series, I love Reddintong.

Yes the series has bad chapters, and excellent chapters, I love the music and the end of each chapter, when Keen's husband died the series declined but then there was no need.

The only thing is that it's enough that Keen suffers so much.

I haven't seen the last season yet.

I think I have only watched till season 5.... I hated waiting for months long end for the seasons to start and the mid season break... thought I would resume after the show ends... not to mention Red... I think he is the only reason I watched this series

The Blacklist is a biiiig favourite of mine. We've slipped a bit since season 8, but we're slowly getting there. I'm so bummed about a few of the plot twists lol

I can't say I have heard of this one. Sounds like it may be a worth while show to watch. 8 season is quite a lot so normally means the show is worth watching.

    Thanks for sharing
