Fernanda y Victoria
La maternidad
My dear friends, taking advantage of International Women's Day, I set out over the weekend to finish watching the series ENVIOUS, where Vicky (Griselda Siciliani) presents us with a very controversial situation where, beyond what was thought a woman should be 70 years ago, today it is a debate about what I truly want as a woman:Motherhood.

I say it is controversial because it is assumed that the woman (since ancient times) is the one who gives life and that she came into the world for that purpose; caring for, maintaining, and protecting the home is her main role within society. With industrialization, women entering the workforce, their professional advancement, and the ability to carry out activities that were previously unthinkable are some of the main benefits achieved through the struggle of women, and so, is motherhood the only path or the only reason we are in the world? That is the genesis of this third season.Vicky has the life she 'almost wants and has imagined since she was little': she is with Mathias (Esteban Lamothe), who loves and adores her with all his heart; she has the dream job, being admired and praised for her knowledge, which is much of the recognition she constantly needs to eliminate her insecurities; even the dream dog!, because Roco is now an exemplary dog and has brought them closer together. The problem lies in the fact that Mathias is ready to take the next step and have a daughter, but does Vicky want the same?
Fernanda (Lorena Vega) plays a leading role in this season because, as a behavior specialist (she is the psychologist I love), she can bring to light all of Vicky's insecurities, irrational beliefs, inappropriate behaviors, psychoses, anger and anxiety attacks and manages them from a professional and ethical point of view, as it should be, rather than demonizing or portraying the 'psychologist as crazy,' as is often done in other series.I think the series takes an unexpected turn, a jaw-dropping ending, a very novel approach to current problems, and a Vicky who continues discovering her fears and insecurities, which could perhaps happen to any of us.

¿Por qué verla?

Hasta una próxima oportunidad 😊
Why watch it? The topic of motherhood is a subject that affected me deeply. The only path a woman has is not just to be or not be a mother, and even though we pride ourselves on being a society advanced in rights and equality, we still have a long way to go regarding a woman's life choices and understanding that not all women have the gene or the hope of becoming mothers, and that is okay. Commemorating Women's Day is an indication that we are masters of our own destiny and that, no matter how hard or contrary to what society dictates, what matters is feeling good and complete with who we are, with our lights and shadows, and not letting ourselves be influenced by what society says. Carolina (Pilar Gamboa) shows us that other side of the coin that no one talks about: are you a mother by conviction or because there was no other option? Carolina is the living example that it is not only about idealization, but about everything a woman suffers simply for being a mother.
Also (a point I almost forgot) it shows the other side of motherhood; when a woman wants to be a mother with all her heart and the treatments are so expensive that her desire is cut short economically because, definitely, being a woman and a mother in this sexist society is not easy. Debbie has more prominence this season due to motherhood with her same-sex partner, so it is a novel approach and something that years ago was unthinkable and today is very normal and accepted by society; moreover, it is no longer just society, but also the rights she legally acquires over the children.
Other areas explored in the series are: the professional growth of both, the topic of money within couples, childhood wounds caused by parents, corruption, youth vs. experience in the workplace, jealousy, polygamy, marriage with its legality, and those things that are uncomfortable to talk about, in a playful and fun way, but with a level of depth that kept me entertained throughout the entire season. The episodes are no longer than half an hour, so a weekend is enough to enjoy it. I give it a 10/10 and this is confirmed by the awards, the acceptance it has had from the audience, and leaving open in the last episode, in the very last second, leaving the window open for a fourth season 🌟😊. The photographs have their source. I made the cover, the banner, and the divider in Canva. The translator I used was DeepL. Until next time 😊.
