The 90's was a great decade for anime a type of Japanese series based on manga, titles like Dragon Ball, The Knights of the Zodiac, Inuyasha, Pokemon and a lot of Japanese content, that we enjoyed in childhood.
But there was a special series for me, that made me sit every afternoon to wait for its transmission on a national television channel, that is why when they announced that it would return this time by Netflix, I programmed a notification for the application to announce its premiere.
Series many and in my childhood a lot of content from Japan marked my life, Sailor Moon represented everything I liked to see as a child Beautiful empowered girls that alluded to my favorite theme since then: the sidereal space and all that entails planets, satellites, constellations among other celestial bodies.
The Sailor Moon saga is one of the most successful in history, but it has been almost 3 decades since its premiere, so I thought it was unlikely that they would ever take up the project again, however its creator has decided to return with 2 movies that were released in Japan between January and February of this year. The films seem to be remnants of a lost season of the series, which has caused the euphoria of thousands of fans among which I count myself.
𝕴𝖓𝖙𝖗𝖔𝖉𝖚𝖈𝖈𝖎ó𝖓
Los 90’s fueron una década grandiosa para el anime un tipo de serie japonesa basada en los mangas, títulos como Dragon Ball, Los Caballeros del Zodiaco, Inuyasha, Pokemon y un montón de contenido japonés, que disfrutamos en la infancia.
Pero hubo una serie especial para mí, que hacía que me sentara cada tarde a esperar su transmisión en un canal de televisión nacional, es por ello que cuando anunciaron que volvería esta vez por Netflix, programe una notificación para que la aplicación me anunciara su estreno.
Series muchas y en mi infancia mucho contenido de Japón marcó mi vida, Sailor Moon representaba todo lo que me gustaba ver de niño Bellas Chicas empoderadas que hacían alusión a mi tema favorito desde entonces: el espacio sideral y todo lo que conlleva planetas, satélites, constelaciones entre otros cuerpos celestes.
La saga Sailor Moon es una de las más exitosas de la historia, pero ya han pasado casi 3 décadas desde su estreno, por lo que creía improbable que algún momento retomaran el proyecto sin embargo su creadora ha decido volver con 2 películas que en Japón fueron estrenadas entre enero y febrero de este año. Las películas parecen ser retazos de una temporada perdida de la serie por lo que ha supuesto la euforia de miles de fans entre los cuales me cuento.
𝕿𝖊𝖈𝖍𝖓𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖑 𝕯𝖊𝖙𝖆𝖎𝖑𝖘
Precious Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie is a Japanese film produced by Toei Animation and Studio Deen based on the original manga by Naoko Takeuchi who also supervises the story, while the direction was in the hands of Chiaki Kon, with scripts written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu. It consists of two parts of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes each. It features the voices of its original dubbing, including Stephanie Sheh for the voice of Serena in America and Robbie Daymond lending his voice to the former Darien Chiba.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie es una película japonesa producida por Toei Animation y Studio Deen basada en el manga original de Naoko Takeuchi quien también supervisa la historia, mientras que la dirección estuvo en manos de Chiaki Kon, con guiones escritos por Kazuyuki Fudeyasu. Está conformada en 2 partes de 1 hora 20 minutos cada una aproximadamente. Cuenta con las voces de su doblaje original entre los cuales destacan Patricia Acevedo para la voz de Serena en Latinoamérica y Gerardo Reyero prestando su voz para el antiguo Darien Chiba.

Small Lady o Chibi-Usa la hija del futuro de Sailor Moon, es visitada en sueños por un misterioso y hermoso Pegaso, que le pide ayuda para enfrentar una amenaza que en un principio no explica. Con la llegada del nefasto Circo Dead Moon a Tokio durante un eclipse solar, el cual está encabezado por el Cuarteto de Amazonas parece que las Sailor Guardians se enfrentan a un nuevo conjunto de enemigos que amenazarán sus sueños y esperanzas.
La Reina de la Luna Muerta, Nehelenia ha regresado para hacer de la tierra un lugar oscuro y robar la vitalidad de sus habitantes, ¿lograran Sailor Moon, Super Sailor Chibi Moon y Tuxedo Mask junto a las Sailors Marte, Mercurio, Venus, Jupiter, Saturno, Urano, Neptuno y Pluton librar a la tierra de la maldad?.
𝕸𝖞 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖔𝖓
For anyone who has been a fan of the original Sailor Moon anime, this adaptation in the form of 2 movies, may come off as a bit strange at first. It is much more faithful to the original manga, and is also packed with additional characters with many stories that the series didn't have time to address. It is also a much more intimate look so we get to know much more about the Sailor Soldiers as individuals, analyzing their hopes, dreams, their personalities and their duties as Sailor Moon's protectors. The details and information that were added are presented to the narrative to give more context to the personal stories of each of Sailor Moon's friends that we previously saw together in each episode, fleshing them out as individuals with their own wants and needs. Not everything revolves around Usagi (Serena), nor is everything about Chibi-Usa (Small Lady) and that detail adds much more content to the story.
Being shorter in length than several episodes of the anime, the first part of the double feature feels like a batch of chapters of the original version that end and start one after another, showing the Sailor Soldiers defeating an enemy, which makes the narrative feel less forced in order to get to the essence of things and that narrative speed is great, if you didn't know anything about the story because it brings you a lot of information. Each part is dedicated to each of the Sailors, having more time for things like meeting Sailor Mercury's mother or learning about Sailor Venus' guardian, Artemis in human form, something we never saw in the series. All these added details come together to create a new and harmonious story with the essence of the original but this time more modern.
𝕸𝖎 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎ó𝖓
Para cualquiera que haya sido fan del anime original de Sailor Moon, esta adaptación en forma de 2 películas, puede resultar siendo un poco extraña al principio. Es mucho más fiel al manga original, y también está repleta de personajes adicionales con muchas historias que la serie no tenía tiempo de abordar. También es una mirada mucho más íntima por lo cual logramos conocer mucho más acerca de las Sailor Soldiers, como individuos, analizando sus esperanzas, sueños, sus personalidades y sus deberes como protectoras de Sailor Moon. Los detalles e información que fueron añadidos se presentan a la narrativa para darle más contexto a las historias personales de cada una de las amigas de Sailor Moon que vimos previamente juntas en cada episodio, dándoles cuerpo como individuos con sus propios deseos y necesidades. No todo gira en torno a Usagi (Serena), ni todo es acerca de Chibi-Usa (Small Lady) y ese detalle le suma mucho más contenido a la historia.
Por tener una menor duración que la de varios episodios del anime, la primera parte de la película doble parece una tanda de capítulos de la versión original que terminan y comienzan uno tras otro, mostrando a las Sailor Soldiers derrotando a un enemigo, lo que hace que la narración se sienta menos forzada para poder llegar a la esencia de las cosas y esa rapidez narrativa es genial, si no sabías nada de la historia porque te aporta mucha información. Cada parte es dedicada a cada una de las Sailors, contando con más tiempo para cosas como conocer a la madre de Sailor Mercury o aprender sobre la guardiana de Sailor Venus, Artemis en forma humana, algo que nunca vimos en la serie. Todos estos detalles añadidos se unen para crear una nueva y armoniosa historia con la esencia de la original pero esta vez más moderna.
The change works well the plot with which the first part of the movie ends, it develops a little differently than it does in the manga and that's confusing because in many ways they respected the original story, but it was right I enjoyed it, just that 'I think everything is a little more reorganized to make the first part a digestible movie, which I totally approve. Because of this and the nature of the first acts of the story arc, the first part comes off as somewhat episodic. If some scenes had been changed, I might have had a more cinematic experience but throughout I felt like a kid sitting in front of the TV and could feel countless deja vu, and I think that's important.
In the western dub of Sailor Moon the series removed a lot of the Japanese language elements, although I understand it, hearing Serena being called Usagi and Darien Chiba being called Mamoru seemed a bit wrong and threw me off, if you make an adaptation you respect the translation of the original names. Maybe I would have liked more harmony in the story but I understand it's not the nineties anymore. This movie will introduce thousands of new people to Sailor Moon which was a series way ahead of its time. I remember perfectly the lesbian relationship between Uranus and Neptune and in this new version it addresses a little more about their stories although with a lot of subtlety.
Without a doubt I went back to my childhood and I stayed there as I used to do vibrating with an endearing story that of course hooked me. I can only recommend these 2 movies to which I give a 8/10.
El cambio funciona bien la trama con la cual termina la primera parte de la película, se desarrolla de forma un poco diferente a como lo hace en el manga y eso es confuso porque en muchos aspectos respetaron la historia original, pero estuvo correcto yo lo disfrute, sólo que ´creo que todo está un poco más reorganizado para hacer que la primera parte sea una película digerible, lo cual apruebo totalmente. Debido a esto y la naturaleza de los primeros actos del arco argumental, la primera parte resulta algo episódica. Si se hubieran cambiado algunas escenas, quizás hubiera tenido una experiencia más cinematográfica pero en todo momento me sentí un niño sentado frente al televisor y pude sentir innumerables déjà vu, y creo que eso es importante.
En el doblaje occidental de Sailor Moon la serie eliminó muchos de los elementos del idioma japonés, aunque lo entiendo, escuchar a Serena ser llamada Usagi y a Darien Chiba ser llamado Mamoru me pareció un poco mal y me sacó de onda, si haces una adaptación respetas la traducción de los nombres originales. Quizás me hubiera gustado que existiera más armonía en la historia pero entiendo que ya no son los noventas. Esta película hará que miles de personas nuevas conozcan a Sailor Moon que fue una serie bastante adelantada a su tiempo. Recuerdo perfectamente la relación lésbica entre Urano y Neptuno y en esta nueva versión aborda un poco más acerca de sus historias aunque con mucha sutileza.
Sin duda alguna volví a mi infancia y me quede allí como solía hacerlo vibrando con una historia entrañable que por supuesto me enganchó. No me queda más que recomendarte estas 2 películas a las cuales les doy un 8/10.
