Hello Hivers! Today I want to welcome June, also wish you all a successful month and may all the things you undertake materialize. This is Gay Pride month so I didn't want to overlook this celebration that is already more than 50 years old. To celebrate it I wanted to dedicate my first publication of June to a very Special story.
This Series came to me at a time when I was looking for things to watch on Netflix and the poster came out announcing that I might like to watch it. I didn't hesitate for a second as I read the little synopsis I got.
A series about a disabled person isn't something you see every day, so I wanted to give it a chance, and learn more about the main character's condition: cerebral palsy.
Cerebral Palsy is caused by an injury to the brain, people who suffer from this congenital condition have difficulty performing the simplest tasks, being among the motor disorders it affects body movement. Some cases may include some kind of intellectual disability, but others manage to lead normal lives and do not need the support of third parties. I must confess that before watching this series I knew nothing about this Pluridisability as it is also known, so I educated myself a lot about the subject.
But I tell you no more so you can discover through this review a light and quite entertaining series that you will surely love.

Estรก Serie llegรณ a mรญ en un momento en el cual estaba buscando cosas que ver en Netflix y saliรณ el pรณster anunciando que quizรกs me gustarรญa verla. No dude ni un segundo al leer la pequeรฑa sinopsis que obtuve.
Una serie de una persona discapacitada no se ve todos los dรญas, asรญ que quisรฉ darle una oportunidad, y aprender mรกs acerca de la condiciรณn del protagonista: la parรกlisis cerebral.
La Parรกlisis Cerebral es ocasionada por una lesiรณn en el cerebro, las personas que padecen esta condiciรณn congรฉnita tienen dificultad para realizar las tareas mรกs sencillas, ya que al estar entre los trastornos motores afecta el movimiento corporal. Algunos casos pueden incluir algรบn tipo de discapacidad intelectual, pero otros logran tener vidas normales y no necesitan el apoyo de terceros. Debo confesar que antes de ver esta serie no sabรญa nada de esta Pluridiscapacidad como tambiรฉn es conocida, asรญ que me eduquรฉ mucho acerca del tema.
Pero no les cuento mรกs para que puedan descubrir a travรฉs de esta reseรฑa una serie ligera y bastante entretenida que de seguro les encantarรก.

The story is about Ryan Hayes (Ryan O'Connell) a 28-year-old in the process of discovering who he is in all dimensions of his identity: as a gay man, as a disabled man, as a writer, as a son and as a friend. In the first episode, he is hit by a car and then some time later begins interning at EggWoke, a web-based personal essay blog, where he meets Kim (Punam Patel) who becomes his best friend and confidant. Ryan is pressured by his evil boss Olivia (Marla Mindelle) which causes Ryan instead of telling the truth about his disability, to lie and say that his physical symptoms are due to his injury and not a congenital disability. His new identity and new job will allow him to make new friends, explore his sexuality with adorable guys like Tanner (Patrick Fabian) and try to gain independence from his overprotective mother, Karen (Jessica Hecht).

La historia trata sobre Ryan Hayes (Ryan O'Connell) un chico de 28 aรฑos en proceso de descubrir quiรฉn es en todas las dimensiones de su identidad: como hombre gay, como discapacitado, como escritor, como hijo y como amigo. En el primer episodio, es atropellado por un carro para entonces tiempo despuรฉs comenzar a hacer sus pasantรญas en EggWoke, una blog de ensayos personales en la web, allรญ conocerรก a Kim (Punam Patel) quien se convertirรก en su mejor amiga y confidente. The first novelty I found was that Jim Parsons, known for his role in The Big Bang Theory was the executive producer of this series, which undoubtedly gave it a lot of freshness.
Another important thing is the fact that it has been starred by a person with cerebral palsy, I understood from the first moment that it would not be a series to victimize disabled people, but to show how normal their lives can be.
Each chapter, each story and each character are common and of course you could live the same anecdotes and meet people like these characters and that's great because it allows you to identify yourself. Being gay is already difficult for a person without any pre-existing condition, so to see the main character going through particularly tough situations is simply admirable. His sexual discovery starts at 18 and everything that comes after that is the development of a human being like you or me, we're not so different after all.
Giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a reality that is not your own is all I needed, here I have it all. A protagonist who even the most absurd things like making a simple sandwich is difficult for him is an all too touching thing, although in the series it never feels that way.

La primera novedad que me encontrรฉ es que Jim Parsons, conocido por su papel en The Big Bang Theory era el productor ejecutivo de esta serie lo que sin duda le aportรณ mucha frescura.
Otra cosa importante es el hecho de que haya sido protagonizada por una persona con parรกlisis cerebral, comprendรญ desde el primer momento que no serรญa una serie para victimizar a las personas discapacitadas, sino para mostrar lo normales que pueden llegar a ser sus vidas.
Cada capรญtulo cada historia y cada personaje son comunes y por supuesto que podrรญas vivir anรฉcdotas iguales y conocer personas como estos personajes y eso es genial porque te permite identificarte. Ser gay ya es difรญcil para una persona sin ninguna condiciรณn preexistente, asรญ que ver al personaje principal atravesando situaciones particularmente duras es sencillamente admirable. Su descubrimiento sexual comienza a los 18 y todo lo que viene despuรฉs es el desarrollo de un ser humano como tรบ o como yo, no somos tan diferentes despuรฉs de todo.
Darte la oportunidad de sumergirte en una realidad que no es la tuya es todo lo que necesitaba, aquรญ lo tengo todo. Un protagonista que hasta las cosas mรกs absurdas como hacer un simple emparedado le resulta difรญcil es una cosa demasiado conmovedora, aunque en la serie nunca se siente asรญ.
The humor is ever-present in every passing minute, with incredible shrewdness and intelligence. At every turn there is a reference to some movie, situation or pop culture. Almost always from the hand of Kim the funny Indian best friend character played spectacularly by actress Punam Patel.
That if each character has its own light and none is there for filler, everyone has their own story and I loved that in the second season we got to know each character much more. In Special no one is good or bad they are all normal people maybe that's why I couldn't hate the character of Olivia Ryan's evil boss Olivia in Eggwood played by actress Marla Mindelle. At some point you get to hate the main character for being such a jerk in some situations and we ask ourselves the question is it ok to hate a disabled person, the answer is simple yes, yes we can hate a disabled person because they are as human as we are.
I liked how they addressed the issue of insecurity because that has nothing to do with your virtues, we all have the right to feel that way. Ryan is a guy who has lived a long time in the closet first sexually and then has a hard time admitting his condition.
The codependent relationship he has with his mother Karen played by Jessica Hecht was one of the harshest and rawest themes of the series but also some of the most real I've seen on screen.
El humor estรก presente siempre en cada minuto que pasa, con increรญble sagacidad e inteligencia. En cada momento hay una referencia a alguna pelรญcula, situaciรณn o a la cultura pop. Casi siempre de la mano de Kim el divertido personaje de la mejor amiga hindรบ encarnado espectacularmente por la actriz Punam Patel.
Eso si cada personaje tiene su propia luz y ninguno estรก allรญ de relleno, todos tienen su historia y me encantรณ que en la segunda temporada conociรฉramos a cada personaje mucho mรกs. En Special nadie es bueno ni malo todos son personas normales tal vez por eso no podrรญa odiar al personaje de Olivia la malvada jefa de Ryan en Eggwood interpretado por la actriz Marla Mindelle. En algรบn momento llegas a odiar al protagonista por ser tan idiota en algunas situaciones y nos hacemos la pregunta de si estรก bien odiar a una persona discapacitada, la respuesta es sencilla: si, si podemos odiar a un discapacitado porque es tan humano como nosotros.
Me gustรณ como abordaron el tema de la inseguridad porque eso no tiene nada que ver con tus virtudes, todos tenemos derecho a sentirnos asรญ. Ryan es un chico que ha vivido mucho tiempo en el closet primero sexualmente y luego le cuesta admitir su condiciรณn.
La relaciรณn de codependencia que tiene con su madre Karen interpretada por Jessica Hecht fue uno de los temas mรกs duros y crudos de la serie pero tambiรฉn de lo mรกs real que he visto en pantalla.
Ryan's boyfriends and sexual partners are adorable they all deserve a special mention, love each of his partners especially Tanner played spectacularly by Patrick Fabian, he is already on my list of favorite actors.
A semi-autobiographical account of the life of a gay man in Los Angeles with cerebral palsy, Special is just a self-made vehicle for its creator and star Ryan O'Connell. The staging is simple and the budget was low but who needs money when you have a good story on your hands, Special doesn't pretend to be much but it stays there tucked away in a little corner of your heart where you treasure it as a beautiful memory. I have nothing left to say but to give this series a score of 9/10 and invite you to watch it.
Los novios y parejas sexuales de Ryan son adorables todos merecen una menciรณn especial, ame a cada uno de sus parejas sobre todo a Tanner interpretado espectacularmente por Patrick Fabian, desde ya estรก en mi lista de actores favoritos.
Un relato semiautobiogrรกfico de la vida de un hombre gay en Los รngeles con parรกlisis cerebral, Special es solo un vehรญculo hecho a sรญ mismo para su creador y estrella Ryan O'Connell. La puesta en escena es sencilla y el presupuesto fue bajo pero quien necesita dinero cuando tienes una buena historia en tus manos, Special no pretende mucho pero queda allรญ guardada en un rinconcito de tu corazรณn donde la atesoras como un recuerdo bonito. No me queda nada mรกs que decir mรกs que darle una puntuaciรณn de 9/10 a esta serie e invitarlos a verla.
