¡Buenas mis panas amantes del as películas y conocedores de las obras más recordables del suspenso! ¿Como están? espero de corazón que muy bien, hoy vamos a explorar una película que si bien no goza de unas excelentes criticas ni alabanzas en el momento en que fue estrenada, desde mi humilde opinión, la considero una película algo infravalora sin caer tampoco en el extremo de ser una joya oculta de la cinematografía, La huérfana tiene varias cosas que la hacen destacar como una obra de suspenso y a su vez se parece bastante a todo el conjunto de películas que siempre repiten los mismos clichés del genero, ¿Que hace que uno se acuerde de esta película? bueno, ¡Comencemos para averiguarlo!

Today we are going to explore a film that although it does not enjoy excellent reviews or praise at the time it was released, from my humble opinion, I consider it a somewhat underrated film without falling into the extreme of being a hidden gem of cinematography, The Orphan has several things that make it stand out as a work of suspense and in turn is quite similar to the whole set of films that always repeat the same clichés of the genre, what makes you remember this movie? Well, let's start to find out!

Empezando lo primero que veremos una especie de pesadilla o recuerdo traumatico expresado mediante el mundo de los sueños, en estos primeros minutos se nos dejara en claro que el personaje llamado Kate pasando por una fase en la que le cuesta terminar de aceptar la perdida el embarazo que tuvo, no obstante, pronto veremos que a pesar de pasar por tal evento, sigue contando con una familia que la estima y la apoya.

En total, la familia esta conformada por 4 miembros contando a Kate, entre los que están John, su esposo, Daniel, su hijo mayor y Max, su hija quien es sordomuda, y por lo que se ve, todos intentan superar la tragedia lo mejor que pueden, pero es en especial a Kate, a quien mas le cuesta seguir y concentrarse en sus actividades diarias, se deja caer que también tiene un historial con la bebida, y que probablemente, todos estos recuerdos y problemas que ha estado experimentando recientemente, se debe a la resistencia que tiene por adoptar a un hijo o hija, pero reafirmando su intenciones con su esposo, decide dar el gran paso y dirigirse a un orfanato.

Allí conocen a una niña bastante talentosa con los dibujos y se deja ver que tiene un pensamiento bastante maduro y avanzado para su edad, a ambos padres les parece interesar saber más de ella, y aunque la novicia asegura que es una niña que ha pasado por muchas cosas, asegura que es toda una prodigio, brillante, inteligente y muy capaz, estos argumentos convencen a ambos padres de darle una oportunidad y se presenta un periodo de prueba de 3 semanas para ver como van las cosas.

Para sorpresa de nadie, pronto descubriremos que esta aparentemente inocente niña no es mas que una completa psicopata con la psique completamente jodida, tal vez el lado más aterrador de la niña, es que es muy astuta manipulando a las personas y vendiéndose como alguien que no rompe un plato, algunos diálogos de este personaje (Que olvide mencionar pero se llama Esther) son increíblemente crueles y sarcásticos, llegando casi al humor negro, cosa que me hicieron mucha gracia me temo, Esther es muy interesante de ver, porque a pesar de que en compañía se comporta como una chica de su edad, a la mínima que alguien se mete en su camino, lo mantiene como un objetivo hasta que logra consumar su venganza, sumándole puntos como antagonista.
for nobody's surprise, we will soon discover that this seemingly innocent girl is nothing more than a complete psychopath with a completely screwed up psyche, perhaps the scariest side of the girl, is that she is very clever at manipulating people and selling herself as someone who doesn't break a plate, some dialogues of this character (who I forgot to mention but her name is Esther) are incredibly cruel and sarcastic, Esther is very interesting to watch, because although in company she behaves like a girl of her age, at the minimum that someone gets in her way, she keeps them as a target until she manages to consummate her revenge, adding points to her as an antagonist.

Aunque la película se esfuerza por ser terrorífica y tener escenas memorables para el ámbito de su genero, creo que con diferencia, la escena en la que uno tiene mayor dificultad de ver es en la que se revela el historial asesinatos y abusos que ha causado esta mujer, porque efectivamente, es una mujer adulta que padece de una enfermedad sumamente rara que la hace parecerse a una niña, pero mientras se revelan estos datos, uno ve como la propia Esther, intenta aprovecharse del padre que esta alcoholizado y muy afectado indirectamente por todos los males que ha causado esta pequeña asesina, acercandosele de manera "seductora" y tratando de mantener relaciones con el mismo, por suerte esto no termina pasando, pero creo que es por esto, y por la propia antagonista que la película es bastante decente e interesante de ver, pero claro, no todo es oro lo que reluce.
Although the film strives to be terrifying and have memorable scenes for the scope of its genre, I think that by far, the scene in which one has more difficulty to see is in which the history of murder and abuse that has caused this woman is revealed, because indeed, is an adult woman who suffers from an extremely rare disease that makes her look like a child, but while these data are revealed, one sees how Esther herself, tries to take advantage of the father who is alcoholic and very indirectly affected by all the evils that this little murderer has caused, approaching him in a "seductive" way and trying to maintain relations with him, luckily this does not end up happening, but I think it is for this, and for the antagonist herself that the film is quite decent and interesting to watch, but of course, not everything is gold that glitters.

Ya solo viendo la portada de la película, sabemos a lo que vamos y ya sabemos habrá algo mal con respecto a la que conoceremos como la huérfana, y como ya saben, hacerse la idea de la mitad de la historia de la película y acertar, no es que te deje muchas sorpresas para revelar una vez que ya vas consumiendo toda la trama, pero a su vez, también esta llena de cliches, sustos baratos que no aterran a nadie, conveniencias potentes casi al final de la película, y el clásico, la policía llega, pero no hace nada, es más, mientras las protagonistas estaban teniendo un literal duelo por ver quien aguanta más navajazos, los policías ahí estaban, tomándose un cafecito y haciendo sus apuestas por ver quien ganaba, creo que lo más absurdo, es el dialogo final que tiene la huérfana, en el que le implora a su "mami" que no la deje morir... creo que sobran los comentarios.
Just by looking at the cover of the movie, we know what we are going to and we already know that there will be something wrong regarding the one we will meet as the orphan, and as you know, getting the idea of half of the story of the film and getting it right, is not that it leaves you many surprises to reveal once you are already consuming the whole plot, but in turn, it is also full of clichés, cheap scares that do not terrify anyone, powerful conveniences near the end of the film, and the classic, the police arrive, but do nothing, in fact, while the protagonists were having a literal duel to see who can take more knives, the cops were there, having a cup of coffee and making their bets to see who won, I think the most absurd, is the final dialogue that the orphan has, in which she begs her "mommy" not to let her die. ... I think there is no need to comment.

Seguramente si llegaron hasta acá, se estarán preguntando si finalmente me gusto la película, a la que parece que la critico más de lo que la alabo, y para ser honesto, creo que es una pasable película de terror que tuvo el potencial de ser más, pero que se quedo algo relegada a la sombra de tantas obras que han salido a lo largo de los años, no esta tan mal como hacen ver algunos críticos, pero tampoco es que sea una película que te haga decir no jodas esto si es cine me gustaron bastante las actuaciones, la ideas inicial y las manipuladoras maneras de mantener a todo el mundo controlado por parte de la antagonista, no me gusto el final de la obra, ni lo previsible que es los origines de la huérfana, tampoco el hecho de que los asesinatos no sean para nada planificados, exceptuando quizás el de Daniel, que si fue algo más "creativo" dentro de todo, ¿la recomendaría para ver?, si, con todo y sus falencias expuestas.
Surely if you got this far, you're wondering if I finally liked the movie, which seems that I criticize it more than I praise it, and to be honest, I think it's a passable horror film that had the potential to be more, but that was somewhat relegated to the shadow of so many works that have come out over the years, it's not as bad as some critics make you see but it's not a movie that makes you say no shit this is real cinema. I quite liked the performances, the initial ideas and manipulative ways to keep everyone controlled by the antagonist, I did not like the end of the work, nor how predictable it is the origins of the orphan, nor the fact that the murders are not at all planned, except perhaps that of Daniel, which if it was something more "creative" within all, would I recommend it to see it?, yes, with all its shortcomings exposed.
