Guns Akimbo: Harry Potter and The Bolted Guns

Review by @freddbrito · 2238d · of Guns Akimbo

Last year a photo of Daniel Radcliffe, famous for playing Harry Potter for several years, went viral. In this photo he looked deplorable, with a demented look and a gun in each hand. That photo was memo material for some weeks and although the exact context of the photo was not known, what could be intuited was that the actor was doing a job for some film or some serious one. In time, the real context of the photo was finally revealed and later a trailer was released. In this trailer we could see that the new project of the actor was a movie, and just by watching the first images of that trailer we could realize that it was a totally crazy and frenetic product.

Guns Akimbo is the name of this film and I can say that it is totally crazy and bizarre. This film tells us how Daniel Radcliffe's character is a worker in a video game company, but his boss has no respect for him. Parallel to this, in the universe of madness of Guns Akimbo, there is an organization which is responsible for facing characters in duels to the death, such meetings are broadcast on the Internet being viewed by many people around the world.

Going back to the main character, since at the same time he is working, he is also in charge of being a "troll of trolls", as he is described in the movie, since he is in charge of insulting and fighting with anyone on the internet no matter the consequences. But one day when he was insulting on the Skizm website, the website and organization that organizes and broadcasts the massacre live, he started insulting the wrong person, because one of the Skizm administrators answered him and that's when all the madness started around the main character.

The next day Miles (Daniel Radcliffe) is invaded in his home by the workers and the Skizm boss and after sedation, they surgically implant a gun in each hand and set him the task of killing a girl named Nix (Samara Weaving), who is one of the most famous and deadly killers in Skizm. And this is how the story of Guns Akimbo begins.

It's really not a movie for everyone, since it's simply a movie to enjoy without looking for much logic to all the madness that happens. I have to say that it's a pretty violent, graphic, but also geek film, it has certain elements of the gaming world that make it quite visually appealing, plus it has some pretty good 90's song remixes.

After having finished the Harry Potter saga, Daniel Radcliffe has wanted to detach himself from the character for which everyone recognizes him, but having been one of the most important sagas for a generation, to remove that is quite difficult, that's why this actor has been seen looking for roles in movies or in any other quite strange product, as well as the movie Swiss Army Man, which I have not seen yet, but I know that he plays a corpse... if a corpse. I have that movie on my "next movies to see" list.

Overall, Guns Akimbo is a good film to watch among friends and to laugh at all the crazy and meaningless events that happen throughout the film. As I said, it's not a film to look for some kind of logic, since Guns Akimbo doesn't take itself seriously and only pretends to make us have fun.

After the Harry Potter Saga, I think he has failed to build - at least until now - a good career on the big screen.
