Is this the case of life being like a box of chocolates that you never know what you get? Leaving my home yesterday for this solo Island trip, was like one of my wildest dream coming through.
I have imagined myself doing this for as long as I could remember. Just me exploring nature in its absolute beauty, admiring it magnificent far away from the distraction of the World.
Everything has been going on as planned so far until my ship recks down completely on getting to this beautiful Island.
At first, I thought it was just a minor issue that I can fix but after spending almost four hours trying to fix the problem, with no headway I have resigned to my faith that at least there is so much beauty to explore here, and a nice abandon shelter where I can stay until someone come to my rescue if anyone will ever find me.
Another great thing is not just a nice shelter to stay in but I found varieties of food and clean water.
The old habitant of this shelter went all the way to build a TV from coconut which runs on solar power. How lucky can I get on a lonely Island?
This comes with a bit of a twist though, He had left instructions for anyone that find this place that I have an option to choose and watch only one movie for as long as I chose to stay here, no matter how long I stay. This is some kind of magic and I'm very much ready to try it out.
The option for me to choose just one movie needs me to make the best choice, chose the most interesting one for I don't know how long I'm going to stay so, I need a movie I can watch over and over again without getting bored.
After doing some thinking back and forth I can't think of a better option for me than using the power of magic bestowed on this shelf and chose The Sand Man
Why 'The Sand Man'
This is a movie I just started watching recently about a man 'The King Of Dreams and nightmares his siblings, Despair, Death, Desire, and Destiny.
He happens to be the guy in control of the realm of the dream until he was captured by a misguided man who mistakes him for Death. Dream sibling, for the sole purpose of bringing back his son from the land of the dead.
His captivity, open up a series of events of chaos and disasters until he was free again to undo all the damages that happens while he was away from his Kingdom.
It explores how the dream and the waking world works and since I'm stuck on this lonely island I think is kind of related, his sibling Death is so fascinating, how she goes about carrying out her work, finding bonds and relationship with the people she meets in her line of work.
This movie has thought me that dreams do come true, and our thoughts hold a powerful force that we need to be careful of the kind of things we think of, as they may just come true.
I'm probably going to tap into this power of dream and who knows if I can align my thought and dream with the universe I might find a rescuer from this island just before it gets bored for my liking.
Some Notable Characters
Tom Sturridge As Dream
Kirby Howell-Baptiste As Death
Sandra James-Young As Unity Kinkaid
She is a survivor of the casualty when Dream was captured. She slept all through her young life till adulthood, during all those times she dreamt of running her family business, falling in love with desire, and having a daughter. Most of this happens in reality, by the time she wakes up.
Andi Osho As Miranda Walker
She happens to be the granddaughter of Unity Kinkaid, with the power to alter the dream realm and make whatever people happen to dream about become real by the time they wake up. She poses a great threat to the waking world unless something urgent is done to stop her.
My Favorite Episode and scenes
My favorite episode so far is episode six, it explains the cordial relationship between dream and his sister, death. It further takes us on an interesting journey of how Death carries out her day-to-day work.
Her positive attitude towards her responsibility is what I love most about her. And the actress Kirby Howell-Baptiste did a perfect job portraying the character.
