I was always very curious about Pripyat, the city that was home to what was once the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This miniseries helped me understand more precisely the events that led to the entire disaster that occurred there, but amid so much radiation, danger and explosions, I discovered that the plot, despite focusing on the events that led to the explosion of the reactor and its consequences, it also offers a very profound message as to what it means to hide the truth even if many lives are sacrificed in the attempt. This is perhaps one of the strengths of this masterpiece, its clear orientation to show the damage that an equivocal ideology is responsible for materializing in exchange for preserving a perfection that does not exist.
Siempre tuve una gran curiosidad por Prípiat, ciudad que albergó lo que alguna vez fue la planta nuclear de Chernobyl. Esta miniserie me ayudó a entender con más precisión los eventos que conllevaron a todo el desastre que ahí ocurrió, pero entre tanta radiación, peligro y explosiones, descubrí que la trama, a pesar de centrarse en los hechos que propiciaron la explosión del reactor y sus consecuencias, también brinda un mensaje muy profundo en cuanto a lo que supone ocultar la verdad así se sacrifiquen muchas vidas en el intento. Este es quizás uno de los puntos fuertes de esta obra maestra, su clara orientación a mostrar el daño que una ideología equívoca se encarga de materializar a cambio de preservar una perfección que no existe.
The production was masterful, every aspect of the scenery provided a very realistic experience throughout the 5 episodes. You felt that you were there, that you were in Pripyat watching the disaster in the front row. You also feel the despair and nostalgia of the characters, but you also feel trapped, amazed and at the same time perplexed by all the images that pass through your eyes. The scene that most moved me was that of the Bridge of Death. Seeing the innocence of people in the face of the catastrophe brought some shock to me. That happens when the truth is hidden, when criticism is not taken, it is important and ideology is worth more than reason. Chernobyl touches these themes and combines them, and suddenly, you realize that atoms are not the real culprits.
La producción fue magistral, cada aspecto de las escenografía brindó una experiencia muy realista a lo largo de los 5 episodios. Sentías que estabas ahí, que estabas en Prípiat mirando el desastre en primera fila. Sientes, además, la desesperación y la nostalgia de los personajes, pero también te sientes atrapado, maravillado y a la vez perplejo con todas las imágenes que transcurren a través de tus ojos. La escena que más me conmovió fue la del Puente de la Muerte. Ver la inocencia de las personas ante la catástrofe sacó en mi algo de conmoción. Eso ocurre cuando la verdad se oculta, cuando la crítica no es tomada es cuenta y la ideología vale más que la razón. Chernobyl toca estos temas y los combina, y de pronto, te das cuenta que los átomos no son los verdaderos culpables.
