The story based on the comics by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, but with a completely renewed plot by Damon Lindelof, takes us to Tulsa Oklahoma, a small town where life seems to pass normally except for the occasional shower of shrimp. Angela Abar, also known as Sister Night, is one of the members of the Tulsa police, a squad of men and women who wear masks to hide their identity and avoid being transgressed by the 7th Cavalry, a group of white supremacists who have left a mountain of victims behind him. One night, after a very normal dinner, Angela receives a phone call asking her to visit a tree. Somewhat surprised, she decides to travel in her car under the company of the stars to attend the aforementioned place, not knowing that there she will not only meet the harsh message of death, but will also discover that everything she believed and trusted it is nothing but a trap.

In Watchmen the heroes are made of flesh and blood, real humans who hide more than an identity under the mask. Here you are and will remain the same even if you camouflage your face. The drama of the argument exposes that the character of justice goes beyond morals and ethics, and above all of those who perceive it as it really is. Tulsa, that small town that has suffered from racism, is a bit of what the battle against impunity and that absurd ideology of racial differences can mean.

Angela Abar is a woman touched by tragedy and explosions. After an unpleasant past in Vietnam, she travels to Tulsa to finish some matters on which her life depends. By day she is Angela, a woman who gives everything for her family. At night she is Sister Night, the police officer who delivers justice under the hood and mask. Of course, neither Angela Abar nor Sister Night know of the mess they got into for hiding things, and even more so when those things can change the fate of Tulsa and all of humanity forever.

Finalmente tenemos al doctor Manhattan, un hombre azul que tiene los poderes de un dios y ha decidido viajar a Marte y vivir ahí… o al menos eso es lo que creen muchos. My opinion of the series

The Watchmen television series differs greatly from the film released back in 2009, but like the previous one, it retains many topics addressed in the comics by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. At first glance, the story seems somewhat difficult to deal with within the recurring context of heroes, after all it can be difficult to fight against great legends like Batman or Wonder Woman. However, the new role that Moore and Gibbons have given to the model of a hero turns out to be more compelling. This idea was also perceived by Lindelof, and took part of the universe of the other two to tell a story with a context closer to the conflicts of today.
La serie de televisión de Watchmen difiere mucho de la película estrenada por allá en el 2009, pero al igual que la anterior conserva muchos tópicos abordados en los cómics de Alan Moore y Dave Gibbons. A simple vista, la historia parece algo difícil de tratar dentro del recurrente contexto de los héroes, después de todo puede ser difícil combatir contra grandes leyendas como Batman o la mujer maravilla. No obstante, el nuevo rol que Moore y Gibbons le han dado al modelo de un héroe resulta ser más convincente. Esta idea también la percibió Lindelof, y tomó parte del universo de los otros dos para contar una historia con un contexto más cercano a los conflictos de hoy en día.
Racism is an issue that will always be aligned with justice and impunity. It's no wonder this screenwriter chose Tulsa to reveal the new Watchmen premise. This small town that was really hit by a massacre in 1921, in which many white supremacists attempted against the lives of African Americans, being marked as a great bloodstain in the history of the United States. This approach of showing the reality of a nation through what true heroism can entail, is something that very few superhero series and movies show. This allows Watchmen to stand out from the capes, super powers, and the perfect hero.
El racismo es un tema que siempre estará alineado a la justicia y la impunidad. No es de extrañar que este guionista haya elegido Tulsa para revelarnos la nueva premisa de Watchmen. Es este pequeño pueblo realmente fue golpeado por una masacre para el año 1921, en la cual muchos supremacistas blancos atentaron contra la vida de afroamericanos, quedando marcado como una gran mancha de sangre en la historia de los Estados Unidos. Este enfoque de mostramos la realidad de una nación a través de lo que puede suponer el verdadero heroísmo, es algo que muy pocas series y películas de superhéroes muestran. Esto permite que Watchmen destaque por encima de las capas, los súper poderes y el héroe perfecto.
I liked how the story was carried out, how the actors unfolded and the careful way in which the events were inspired. It is a series that you must analyze a lot, because the most insignificant scene can be a key piece in the plot. However, as a loyal fan of the Moore and Gibbons comics, I think some things about the original story shouldn't have been half covered. Such is the case with Rorschach, one of the most symbolic characters in the Watchmen universe. I would have liked to see him back into the whole thing again, and while his absence goes almost unnoticed, I must admit I was looking forward to his reappearance after the movie left a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully, in future adaptations, we can once again soak up his peculiar way of appreciating justice.
Me gustó cómo se llevó a cabo la historia, como se desenvolvieron los actores y la manera tan cuidadosa con la que se inspiraron los hechos. Es una serie que debes analizar mucho, porque la escena más insignificante puede ser una pieza clave en el argumento. Sin embargo, como fiel seguidor de los cómics de Moore y Gibbons, pienso que algunas cosas con respecto a la historia original no debieron tratarse a medias. Tal es el caso de Rorschach, uno de los personajes más simbólicos del universo de Watchmen. Me hubiera gustado verlo de nuevo metido de fondo en todo el asunto, y aunque su ausencia pasa casi desapercibida, debo admitir que estaba esperando su reaparición después de que la película me dejara un agrio sabor en la boca. Ojalá, en futuras adaptaciones, podamos volver a empaparnos con su manera tan peculiar de apreciar la justicia.

This story goes beyond absurd heroism and awkward conflicts. Watchmen addresses the true role of a hero, and the burden of leading a life framed in enforcing justice. This drama contains action, a bit of mystery, and a bit of black comedy. Its complex and clearly unpredictable plot will make you take out the odd wrinkle. You will become fond of some characters, you will loathe others, and you will laugh at one in particular. In the end you will understand why sometimes justice must be masked.
Esta historia va más allá del heroísmo absurdo y los conflictos torpes. Watchmen aborda el verdadero rol de un héroe, y la carga que supone llevar una vida enmarcada en hacer valer la justicia. Este drama contiene acción, algo de misterio y un poco de comedia negra. Su trama compleja y netamente impredecible te hará sacar una que otra arruga. Te encariñarás con algunos personajes, detestarás a otros, y reirás con uno en particular. Al final entenderás porqué algunas veces la justicia debe ir enmascarada.
