Saludos a todos los miembros de la comunidad, ¿cómo están? Cuando leí la descripción de la película me esperaba que la trama argumentativa tuviese una dirección distinta a la que tomó finalmente en el desarrollo de la misma, por lo que, no puedo negar que sentí una total decepción ante el resultado aunque sí disfruté mucho de ciertos elementos. Para esta oportunidad me gustaría detallar varios de los momentos y circunstancias alrededor de la cinematografía que, a mi parecer, hicieron que ese gran potencial que tenía fuese mermando poco a poco con el transcurso de los minutos hasta llegar al final, dejando esa sensación de insatisfacción, sobre todo porque la mayoría del tiempo se invertirá en contexto y aumentar la tensión con pequeños sucesos. Es por ello que podría incluso decirse que la espera de la explosión fue casi eterna al haber llegado a más de cuarenta y algo minutos de cinematografía sin haberse presentado en conflicto de importancia.
Greetings to all the members of the community, how are you? When I read the description of the film I expected the plot to have a different direction than the one it finally took in the development of the film, so I can't deny that I felt a total disappointment with the result, although I did enjoy certain elements. For this opportunity I would like to detail several of the moments and circumstances around the cinematography that, in my opinion, made that the great potential it had was gradually diminishing with the passing of the minutes until the end, leaving that feeling of dissatisfaction, especially because most of the time will be invested in context and increase the tension with small events. That is why it could even be said that the wait for the explosion was almost eternal, having reached more than forty-something minutes of cinematography without having been presented in conflict of importance.
Nos presentarán la trama argumentativa dividiéndola en unos raros pantallazos negros con títulos después de presentarnos un comercial que para mí sí daba la impresión de estar abriendo la puerta a que podríamos encontrar ocultismo, con la presencia de alguna secta, más cuando el final del mismo mostraba una toma bastante interesante con uno de los personajes con el rostro bañado en sangre, y precisamente en uno de los pantallazos negros con títulos aparecía el nombre de ‘Adam y Eva’ que hace inevitablemente pensar en la religión, un tema que en este género es utilizado para crear tramas argumentativas retorcidas de une manera impresionante. Eso nos introduce a dos de los personajes que veremos en la cinematografía, cuyos nombres corresponden a ese interesante título, dígase, Adam (Iwan Rheon) y Eva (Catalina Sandino Moreno), que se muestran como una joven pareja a punto de establecerse en la casa de sus sueños gracias al trabajo de escultora destacada que tiene esta última.
We are presented with the plot divided into some rare black screens with titles after presenting a commercial that to me gave the impression of opening the door that we could find occultism, with the presence of some sect, especially when the end of it showed a very interesting shot with one of the characters with his face bathed in blood, and precisely in one of the black screens with titles appeared the name of 'Adam and Eve' which inevitably makes us think of religion, a topic that in this genre is used to create twisted plots in an impressive way. This introduces us to two of the characters we will see in the film, whose names correspond to that interesting title, namely Adam (Iwan Rheon) and Eva (Catalina Sandino Moreno), who are shown as a young couple about to settle in the house of their dreams thanks to the latter's work as a prominent sculptor.
Puede sentirse la tensión que se desenvuelve alrededor de los referidos personajes no solamente porque a través de los pequeños detalles mostrados la dinámica existente como consecuencia de esa situación por la cual están atravesando se nota a la perfección, donde uno de los dos se encuentra más listo que el otro para dar ese gran paso de establecerse lejos de la ciudad, pudiendo a su vez ser espectadores de cada una de las personalidades que tienen estos personajes, con un Adam que parece ser muy inseguro y socialmente incómodo, a diferencia de Eva que demuestra confianza, mucha seguridad sobre lo que hace y se le da bien relacionarse con los demás. El desempeño de los actores respecto a este aspecto considero que es destacable porque sus expresiones y manejo corporal destacaron el guion para hacer que funcionara a la perfección con toda la frescura que de por sí aportó en las interacciones, aunque frustrante por momentos al mantenerse fieles las esencias de los personajes.
You can feel the tension that develops around these characters not only because through the small details shown the existing dynamics as a result of the situation they are going through is noted to perfection, where one of the two is more ready than the other to take that big step of settling away from the city, We can in turn be spectators of each of the personalities that these characters have, with Adam who seems to be very insecure and socially awkward, unlike Eva who shows confidence, a lot of security about what she does and is good at relating to others. I consider the performance of the actors in this aspect to be outstanding because their expressions and body language highlighted the script to make it work perfectly with all the freshness that it brought to the interactions, although frustrating at times to stay true to the essence of the characters.
Después nos introducen a Lucas y Chloe, aunque en realidad Lucas pudo verse en un inicio cuando se presentaba el comercial en un comienzo puesto que este fue quien apareció en el comercial del comienzo. No es un personaje con quien se pueda empatizar demasiado porque se trata de un completo cavernícola que utiliza su superioridad física para dominar a los demás, en especial al pobre Adam, de quien abusa constantemente en una dinámica de amigos bastante incómoda de ver que resulta en uno de los principales generadores de tensión de la cinematografía. Es como la demostración de la masculinidad tóxica con Lucas necesitando demostrar su hombría insultando a Adam y menospreciándolo en múltiples oportunidades resaltando que es débil, tomando ventaja de que este se muestra pasivo ante sus ataques… esto representó también una de las grandes decepciones, porque después de tantos abusos esperaba una explosión como volcán, algo de mayor impacto que aprovechara un momento cumbre.
We are then introduced to Lucas and Chloe, although Lucas could actually be seen in the beginning when the commercial was first introduced since he was the one who appeared in the commercial at the beginning. He's not a character you can empathize with too much because he's a complete caveman who uses his physical superiority to dominate the others, especially poor Adam, who he constantly abuses in a rather uncomfortable buddy dynamic that results in one of the main tension generators in the film. It's like the demonstration of toxic masculinity with a Lucas needing to prove his manhood by insulting Adam and belittling him on multiple occasions highlighting that he is weak, taking advantage of the fact that he is passive to his attacks... this also represented one of the great disappointments, because after so many abuses I was expecting a volcano-like explosion, something of greater impact that would take advantage of a peak moment.
El personaje de Lucas, interpretado por Tom Cullen, y de Chloe, interpretados por Inès Spiridonov, tienen personalidades un tanto vacías pese a la interpretación acorde de los actores que les dan vida, en donde destaca Tom Cullen por haber captado por completo la esencia de su personaje detestable que es un egocéntrico, rústico y egoísta, jugando con esas características junto al tinto humorístico que tiene de a momentos el guion porque se supone que se desarrolla en un momento contemporáneo donde las redes sociales existen con todo lo que implican. Dicho sea de paso, me agradó el enfoque de mostrar momentos en formato de video de teléfono, incluyéndose también las dinámicas de los filtros de las redes sociales para que se sienta más real el desarrollo de las interacciones entre personajes porque son situaciones que se presentan a diario, es una excelente manera de abordar la modernidad dentro de la cinematografía.
Those characters of Lucas, played by Tom Cullen, and Chloe, played by Inès Spiridonov, have somewhat empty personalities in spite of the actors who bring them to life, where Tom Cullen stands out for having completely captured the essence of his detestable character who is self-centered, rustic and selfish, playing with those characteristics along with the humorous tone that the script has at times because it is supposed to take place in a contemporary moment where social networks exist with all that they imply. By the way, I liked the approach of showing moments in phone video format, also including the dynamics of the filters of social networks to make it feel more real the development of interactions between characters because they are situations that occur daily, it is an excellent way to address modernity within cinematography.
Hay elementos del género de terror típico usando animales de la nada, en esta oportunidad un zorro, pero eso se pierde en el camino cuando se revelan los acontecimientos de mayor tensión y problemática que originó todo. Lo que me gustó de la intervención del grupo de personas que llega a la casa para retener al grupo, es que su presentación, comportamiento y energía me hicieron recordar a ciertas escenas dentro de una cinematografía clásica como lo es ‘La naranja mecánica’ por lo cual estaba muy satisfecha con la secuencia. Pero poco más es lo que se puede resaltar, se sentía como si la tensión no tuviese ningún tipo de finalidad, sin columna vertebral que lo sostuviera y al llegar al último tramo simplemente se desplomó. Para mí, se perdió la oportunidad de haberle dado una significación distinta a los elementos mostrados para elevar la trama a una más interesante relacionándola de alguna manera con una secta, porque hablan del robo de una tierra, estamos en el campo, existe la presencia de una piedra extraña, Eva muestra su estilo artístico con esa esencia macabra que me sorprendió…
There are elements of the typical horror genre using animals out of nowhere, in this instance a fox, but that gets lost along the way when the more tense and troubling events that brought it all about are revealed. What I liked about the intervention of the group of people who arrive at the house to hold the group back, is that their presentation, behavior and energy reminded me of certain scenes within classic cinematography such as 'A Clockwork Orange' so I was very satisfied with the sequence. But little else is what can be highlighted, it felt as if the tension had no purpose whatsoever, no backbone to sustain it and by the last stretch it simply collapsed. For me, it missed the opportunity to have given a different meaning to the elements shown to elevate the plot to a more interesting one relating it somehow to a cult, because they talk about the theft of a land, we are in the countryside, there is the presence of a strange stone, Eva shows her artistic style with that macabre essence that surprised me....
¿De verdad me vas a decir que todo lo que pasó fue culpa de la simple línea argumentativa de una ‘venganza inocente sale mal’ y nada más que eso? Es un desperdicio para una producción cuyo eslabón más débil fue concretar la trama en la dirección correcta, lo demás estaba listo, con buenos personajes, un apartado estético hermoso cuidando la gama de colores y contraste perfecto entre escenas, ¿por qué nunca se hizo el intento de volver la trama argumentativa más oscura? Si me vas a poner a un zorro muerto todo extraño que aparece en varias oportunidades sin explicación, mínimo méteme dentro de la trama argumentativa a una secta satánica secreta que vive allí, pero no me digas que la intención era simplemente asustar a los protagonistas pero que salió mal porque en un momento las cosas se descontrolaron. En medio de ese sin sabor pues las muertes de los diversos personajes no me generaron demasiado porque todo fue muy circunstancial.
Are you really going to tell me that everything that happened was the fault of the simple plot line of an 'innocent revenge gone wrong' and nothing more than that? It's a waste for a production whose weakest link was to get the plot in the right direction, the rest was ready, with good characters, a beautiful aesthetic section taking care of the color palette and perfect contrast between scenes, why was never made the attempt to make the plot darker? If you're going to put a strange dead fox that appears on several occasions without explanation, at least include in the plot a secret satanic sect that lives there, but don't tell me that the intention was simply to scare the protagonists but that it went wrong because at one point things got out of control. In the midst of that tastelessness, the deaths of the various characters did not generate too much for me because it was all very circumstantial.
Me gusto pero me sentí decepcionada, ese podría ser un buen resumen del resultado de esta cinematografía, porque pudo haber sido mejor y para ello le faltó demasiado poco, solamente un pequeño giro en la trama argumentativa, pero no hay que menospreciarla demasiado por eso porque esta fue la historia que quería traer a los espectadores… lo único es que tomándola por lo que pretendió ser, le hizo falta más consistencia en sus intenciones para no sentirse como un vaivén sin sentido. Pasé buena tarde disfrutándola mientras me compadecía con el pobre Adam deseando que también hubiesen decidido explorar la línea argumentativa de este volviéndose loco y matando a todo el mundo por lo mucho que se aprovechaban de su personalidad tranquila, porque mira, hubo momentos en donde la línea con la locura podría haber estado cerca de haber sido cruzada con mucha justificación. Aunque en el fondo creo que lo que pasó dejando de lado el deseo de venganza de los hermanos, fue consecuencia de su participación con la droga en la bebida de Lucas, una muestra del efecto mariposa, tal vez.
I liked it but I felt disappointed, that could be a good summary of the result of this film, because it could have been better and for that it lacked too little, just a little twist in the plot, but we should not belittle it too much for that because this was the story it wanted to bring to the viewers... the only thing is that taking it for what it pretended to be, it lacked more consistency in its intentions to not feel like a meaningless back and forth. I had a good evening enjoying it while commiserating with poor Adam wishing they had also decided to explore the plot line of him going crazy and killing everyone because of how much they took advantage of his calm personality, because look, there were moments where the line with crazy could have been close to being crossed with a lot of justification. Though deep down I think what happened leaving aside the brothers' desire for revenge, was a consequence of their involvement with the drug in Lucas' drinking, a sign of the butterfly effect, perhaps.
