Saludos a todos los miembros de la comunidad, ¿cómo están? Nuevamente vengo a hablar sobre una película de terror psicológico y suspenso pues no hay una mejor manera en mi opinión para entretenerse que esto. En ‘Shut In’ tendremos la posibilidad de disfrutar de una de las tramas argumentativas usuales del género que se centra en una persona atrapada en determinado espacio intentando salir de allí durante la cinematografía, desenvolviéndose alrededor de la tensión generada por esas situaciones mostradas en pantalla que parecieran en algunas oportunidades algo ilógicas buscando efectos dramáticos que en realidad se convierten en una razón para perder seriedad, sin embargo, al ser comunes dentro de estos géneros supongo que no puedo recriminárselos en demasía aún cuando hubiese sido genial un cambio en este aspecto dándole un mayor razonamiento a los personajes.
Greetings to all the members of the community, how are you? Once again I come to talk about a psychological horror and suspense movie because there is no better way in my opinion to be entertained than this. In 'Shut In' we will have the possibility to enjoy one of the usual plotlines of the genre that focuses on a person trapped in a certain space trying to get out of it during the cinematography, Unfolding around the tension generated by those situations shown on screen that seemed in some opportunities somewhat illogical looking for dramatic effects that actually become a reason to lose seriousness, however, being common within these genres I guess I cannot reproach them too much even though it would have been great a change in this aspect giving more reasoning to the characters.
De antemano advierto que no se trata de una película que sea la gran revelación del género considerando que como lo mencioné con anterioridad está desarrollada partiendo de una trama argumentativa usada hasta más no poder, pero han sido varias las cinematografías de las cuales he hablado con ustedes que también tienen esta característica y han resultado ser disfrutables. En esta oportunidad nos encontramos a una mujer llamada Jessica como nuestra protagonista, quien es madre soltera con dos niños pequeños que ha estado pasando por momentos difíciles en su vida por cuestiones de adicción a las drogas que ha estado tratando de dejas atrás, aunque sabemos que esto no es sencillo. En determinado punto sucede lo que siempre pasa cuando el protagonista de la película está intentando conseguir adentrarse en un nuevo estilo de vida alejado de aquellas cosas que le hace mal… estas aparecen de nuevo.
Beforehand I warn that this is not a film that is the great revelation of the genre considering that as I mentioned before it is developed based on a plot used to the hilt, but there have been several films that I have talked to you about that also have this feature and have proved to be enjoyable. In this opportunity we find a woman named Jessica as our protagonist, who is a single mother with two small children who has been going through difficult times in her life due to drug addiction issues that she has been trying to leave behind, although we know that this is not easy. At a certain point happens what always happens when the main character of the movie is trying to get into a new lifestyle away from those things that make her bad... they appear again.
Los antagonistas en esta narrativa no podrían ser nada menos que un ex novio de la protagonista que sorpresa, sorpresa, todavía no ha superado que lo hayan mandado a ustedes saben dónde, y su amigo, quien tiene una pésima reputación. Estos serán los principales encargados de generar la tensión en el ambiente siempre que se muestran como los generadores de riesgo respecto a la protagonista junto a sus niños, algo que debo decir hacen a la perfección, pues la manera en la que se desarrollan todos los eventos resaltan el peso de su presencia en el ambiente lo cual genera una sensación de malestar poderosa, sobre todo para aquellas personas que son padres y que se pueden colocar en la posición de esta mujer atrapada con sus hijos afuera, expuestos a personas sumamente peligrosas por diversos motivos que no voy a revelar porque les arruinaría el mayor impacto de la situación.
The antagonists in this narrative could not be anything less than an ex-boyfriend of the protagonist who, surprise, surprise, still has not gotten over being sent to you-know-where, and his friend, who has a lousy reputation. These will be the main ones in charge of generating tension in the environment whenever they are shown as the generators of risk with respect to the protagonist and her children, something that I must say they do to perfection, because the way in which all the events unfold highlight the weight of their presence in the environment which generates a powerful sense of unease, especially for those who are parents and who can be placed in the position of this woman trapped with her children outside, exposed to extremely dangerous people for various reasons that I will not reveal because it would ruin the greatest impact of the situation.
Resulta interesante resaltar la polémica que se desenvuelve a la luz de esta película debido a de dónde proviene, teniendo en cuenta que su productora es The Daily Wire, un medio conservador de derecha de Estados Unidos que tiene en su cúspide a Ben Shapiro, quien sostiene la existencia de una supuesta guerra cultural que ha estado atacando los valores conservadores, y en donde Hollywood ha jugado ese rol fundamental de la propaganda de determinados valores liberales con los cuales pues no están de acuerdo los conservadores, adquiriendo así mayor sentido la presencia de todos los simbolismos religiosos cristianos. La cinematografía en sí misma es sutil en cuanto a esta intención de oponerse a la narrativa que se puede encontrar en Hollywood, muestra su inclinación al mensaje religioso de una manera que no toma protagonismo pero está a la vista del espectador para que le dé su interpretación.
It is interesting to highlight the controversy that unfolds in the light of this film because of where it comes from, taking into account that its producer is The Daily Wire, a right-wing conservative media in the United States that has at its apex Ben Shapiro, who maintains the existence of a supposed cultural war that has been attacking conservative values, and where Hollywood has played that fundamental role of propaganda of certain liberal values with which conservatives do not agree, thus acquiring greater sense the presence of all Christian religious symbolism. The cinematography itself is subtle in this intention to oppose the narrative that can be found in Hollywood, it shows its inclination to the religious message in a way that does not take center stage but is in view of the viewer to give its interpretation.
La película está grabada en un solo ambiente y cuenta con las limitaciones de presupuesto de una producción modesta, razón por la cual también tiene un número pequeño de actores que participan en la misma. Es debido a estas que llegan determinados momentos donde se presentan circunstancias que hacen al espectador cuestionarse la credibilidad de la historia, al no ser acciones que vayan acordes a seguir la lógica, allí la historia pierde puntos a mi parecer pero se entiende desde la perspectiva de querer añadirle dramatismo sin tener gran abanico de opciones, aunque eso provocó a decir verdad que mi frustración se encontrara en el límite sin poder evitar cuestionar las acciones de los personajes que me parecieron demasiado ridículas. Pese a no contar con mucho dinero la fotografía resalta al ayudar a acentuar esas emociones que se pretenden generar, usando una paleta de colores predominantemente oscura a la perfección.
The film is shot in a single environment and has the budget limitations of a modest production, which is why it also has a small number of actors who participate in it. It is because of these that there are certain moments where there are circumstances that make the viewer question the credibility of the story, not being actions that go according to follow the logic, there the story loses points in my opinion but it is understood from the perspective of wanting to add drama without having a wide range of options, although that caused to tell the truth that my frustration was at the limit without being able to avoid questioning the actions of the characters that seemed too ridiculous. Despite not having a lot of money the cinematography stands out by helping to accentuate those emotions that are intended to be generated, using a predominantly dark color palette to perfection.
La actriz que interpreta a la protagonista, Rainey Qualley, me ha sorprendido con una maravillosa actuación, metiéndose de lleno en el panel con esos matices del personaje palpables al proyectar una cantidad considerable de emociones de manera que se siente la humanidad de la historia, cumpliendo con la responsabilidad del entretenimiento al espectador considerando que una gran parte de la cinematografía será de ella encerrada, su interpretación demostrando la calidad cuando el encierro pasa a un segundo plano para ser la angustia de esta madre por lo que le puede estar pasando a sus hijos afuera lo que se lleve la atención. En un principio no había notado que el director, D. J. Caruso, resulta ser quien a su vez ha dirigido una de mis películas para matar días de aburrimiento en la televisión llamada ‘Eagle Eye’ que curiosamente siempre la pasan cuando la necesito, acá creo que supo aprovechar los pocos recursos.
The actress who plays the protagonist, Rainey Qualley, has surprised me with a wonderful performance, getting right into the panel with those palpable character nuances by projecting a considerable amount of emotions in a way that feels the humanity of the story, fulfilling the responsibility of entertaining the viewer considering that a large part of the cinematography will be of her locked up, her performance demonstrating the quality when the confinement takes a back seat to be the anguish of this mother for what may be happening to her children outside that takes the attention. At first I had not noticed that the director, D. J. Caruso, happens to be the one who in turn has directed one of my movies to kill days of boredom on television called 'Eagle Eye' which curiously always shows it when I need it, here I think he knew how to take advantage of the few resources.
