The film itself revolves around several loving couples and the development of their conflicts in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Love Actually is not about a single love story, but about several types of romantic relationships that are, more often than not, very remotely connected to each other. Throughout the film, then, we move from one couple to the next, seeing how they cope with the obstacles that come their way (almost always the obstacles are themselves) and, despite the brevity of some, we inevitably get emotional when the protagonist realizes his true feelings.

There are several interesting opposites in such relationships, for example: a newly married couple and a widower who has just lost the love of his life; a man discovering that his girlfriend was unfaithful and a loving husband experiencing a flirtation outside of his marriage. It gives us some perspective that romantic relationships are complex, that love isn't always everything.

To be honest, some of the stories were very random (if you see it, you'll know what I mean) and don't seem relevant to the message the movie wants to give us, but maybe their inclusion has to do with the comedy touch or just to explain some connection between two stories.

If its plot is not enough to convince you to watch it, then you should check out the actors and actresses that are in its cast. In Love Actually we have the biggest gathering of big stars I've seen in a while and it was actually fascinating and incredible to be able to see these great actors interact and talk with each other on the big screen. Just to name a few names, we'll have Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Coin Firth, Bill Nighy, Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Alan Rickman (Severus Snape in Harry Potter) and a Thomas Brodie-Sangster before his appearance in The Maze Runner and Queen's Gambit.

In the female counterpart, we will see the legendary Emma Thompson and, one of my favorite actresses, Keira Knightley. The first one standing out because she gets more screen time and her story was the one I liked the most, because of the complexity.

This diversity of stories and characters gives the film a certain appeal, because it shows us the different types of scenarios where we can find love, which does not mean that we will only get it in our romantic partner, but also in unexpected people, whether they are our friends, siblings, children and even in our co-workers.

Love Actually teaches us that there really is more than one way love can come about and that we should always (very important) fight for it because, truth be told, what do we lose by trying? As long as we are able to be with the people we love and cherish, we will be fine and we can find those moments of happiness we deserve.

La película en sí gira en torno a varias parejas amorosas y el desarrollo de sus conflictos en las semanas previas a navidad. Love Actually no trata de una única historia de amor, sino de varios tipos de relaciones románticas que, en la mayoría de ocasiones, están muy remotamente conectadas entre sí. A lo largo de la película, entonces, pasaremos de una pareja a otra, viendo cómo se desenvuelven con los obstáculos que se le presentan (casi siempre los obstáculos son ellos mismos) y, a pesar de la brevedad de algunas, es inevitable que nos emocionamos cuando el protagonista se da cuenta de sus sentimientos verdaderos.

Existen varios opuestos interesantes en dichas relaciones, por ejemplo: una pareja recién casada y un viudo que acaba de perder al amor de su vida; un hombre descubriendo que su novia le era infiel y un marido amoroso experimentando un coqueteo fuera de su matrimonio. Esto nos da un poco de perspectiva sobre que las relaciones románticas son complejas, que el amor no siempre lo es todo.

Para ser honesta, algunas de las historias eran muy al azar (si la ven, sabrán a qué me refiero) y no parecen relevantes en el mensaje que nos quiere dar la película, pero quizás su inclusión tiene que ver con el toque de comedia o solo para explicar alguna conexión entre dos historias.

Si su argumento no es suficiente para convencerlos de verla, entonces deben revisar los actores y actrices que se encuentran en su cast. En Love Actually, está la mayor reunión de grandes estrellas que he visto en un tiempo y, en realidad, fue fascinante e increíble poder ver a estos grandes actores relacionarse e interactuar entre sí en la gran pantalla. Solo por mencionarles algunos nombres, tendremos a Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Coin Firth, Bill Nighy, Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Alan Rickman (Severus Snape en Harry Potter) y a un Thomas Brodie-Sangster antes de su aparición en The Maze Runner y Gambito de Dama.

Esta diversidad de historias y personajes le otorga cierto atractivo a la película, porque nos demuestra los diferentes tipos de escenarios donde podemos encontrar el amor, el cual no significa que solo conseguiremos en nuestra pareja romántica, sino también en personas inesperadas, ya sean nuestros amigos, hermanos, hijos e incluso en nuestros compañeros de trabajo.

Love Actually nos enseña que realmente existe más de una manera en la que el amor puede surgir y que siempre (muy importante) debemos luchar por él porque, a decir verdad, ¿qué perdemos con intentarlo? Mientras seamos capaces de estar con las personas que amamos y apreciamos, estaremos bien y podremos encontrar esos momentos de felicidad que nos merecemos.
