The racial issue represents one of the biggest battles in the United States, a battle that has practically become infinite and where those affected still do not get results that ensure they are treated equally and above all with the same respect as white people. Because perhaps in the present time the incidents that attempt against equality are minor but they continue happening, conflicts that are detonated from the color skin of their participants arriving at really absurd scales, where a simple fulfillment by the laws would have avoided everything, because that is precisely what When They See Us is about, how the rights of a group of teenagers are violated for being part of a race, a group of young people that were forced and taken to the center of a conflict for the simple fact of being black and of fitting in a description.

The plot is based on the "investigation" of a crime in an absurd way, we never see a specific investigation, we only see how the police and judicial system was in charge of demonizing some young people for their skin color. The plot unfolds in a wonderful way showing us all the supposed steps of a misguided investigation, an investigation that was never carried out and that was only a pretext to savagely lock up the young people.

Through the chapters, we see how the young people not only suffered the onslaught of justice and society but also their families suffered great losses, great rebuffs that led them to go through really unpleasant moments. The series is defined as a constant portrait of what is wrong in society, of how dirty and corrupt justice can be when it is blinded by the tints of racism. It's really wonderful to see how the plot progresses, entangling more and complicating things for teenagers, slowly taking away their desire to continue and leaving them around without help.

I felt totally trapped in the story, so much so that I couldn't stop seeing it, and when I finished seeing it I only wanted more, more intensity and more drama of that kind. Achieving success by taking a story as complex as this is to the screen is not easy, but the creators of this series do it wonderfully using creative resources that dramatically set the story, and immediately move us to those moments of racial struggle.

This is without doubt the best series I've seen in years, I was totally trapped in the plot, I fell in love with the characters and I was infected with the emotion that the characters conveyed, basically this series made me part of the story and led me to develop different opinions on how people of color are treated in a country that seems corrupted at each of its institutional levels.
