Sarah, interpretada por Robin Tunney, la cual es el personaje principal, es la recién llegada que se une al grupo de tres chicas, conformado por: Nancy, interpretada por Fairuza Balk, la cual es la líder carismática pero maniática y sus secuaces Bonnie y Rochelle, interpretadas por Neve Campbell y Rachel True, que son de ciertas manera manipuladas por Nancy, pues también tienen sus propios problemas y deseos.

La historia se centra mas que todo en temas de la brujería moderna, mostrando rituales, hechizos y el uso de la magia para cambiar (mejorar) sus vidas y enfrentar a sus enemigos y miedos.
