Hello friends HIVE moviegoers! Today I come to tell you about a Netflix series I recently watched, its name is CURON and it was released in 2020.
Curon shows us Anna as the main character, a recently divorced woman who decides to go live in her hometown with her two twin sons. So needless to say that the review below contains SPOILERS✨.

The first chapter starts off strong by showing us a young girl killing what we can see is her mother, and then her "twin". At this point we don't understand the situation very well because they don't really explain anything, we can only deduce that Anna's father wants to protect her from her "twin".

Exactly 17 years pass and Anna decides to return to Curon (her hometown) apparently because she divorced her husband, although she really does it because she has nowhere to go and wants to know what really happened the night her mother died. Anna assumes that her mother committed suicide as she believes that what she saw that time was a nightmare. When she arrives in town with her children, she is not well received by her father, since he does not want them to be there, for the same reason as before, because he wants to protect her and now his grandchildren.
Anna, intrigued by everything, tells her father about the nightmares she has had, but he ignores this and asks her to please go back to Milan. Although her children also think it would be best to return to their hometown, she insists on staying and even enrolls them in a school.

At school, the kids don't start off on the right foot, since Daria gets in trouble with her classmates and for some reason her family is very hated in town, so to try to make nice with them, they decide to go to a party they were invited to. At the party Daria gets drunk and kisses Mickie, a girl from her school, while her brother Mauro goes in search of his drone to the lake.
In the lake there is a kind of bell tower without bells, which according to legend, whoever hears the bells ringing dies. Daria doesn't believe this at first because she assumes that they are just nonsense village legends; but what she doesn't know, and I think it is something very important to mention, is that the whole town is sinking little by little except for that place, there is certainly something strange about it.

Upon arriving home, the boys begin to hear strange noises and Mauro, who is the more curious of the two, decides to investigate. Upon arriving at the place where the noises are coming from, Mauro discovers a door that is strangely secured and when he manages to open it he finds a woman very similar to his mother; at first he thinks it is her, but when he tries to help her he realizes that it is not his mother and decides to leave her, at that moment the woman hits him on the head and escapes.

The next morning, the boys get up early to go to school, when they realize that their mother is not there, they ask their grandfather and he tells them that she went for a walk in the mountains. At first Mauro does not believe this because he says that his mother would never leave without telling them and also what happened the night before had left him very confused.
Regarding what had happened that night, Mauro asks his grandfather about the woman who was locked in that room, but Daria tells him that there is no point in asking since he was very drunk and maybe it was a hallucination; the grandfather takes advantage of what the girl said, to make Mauro believe that it was a nightmare he had and nothing of what he "saw" is real.

Very soon we realize that what Mauro saw is real and little by little the series takes care of showing us what is going on. Anna was really kidnapped by the woman that Mauro saw locked in the room, since she took the opportunity to kidnap and kill her, but what is the reason for this? Why the grandfather had her locked in a room? What is being hidden?
The real reason for everything that happens, is because of the legend that exists in the town, which is real; hearing the bells does not mean the immediate death of the person who hears them, it simply causes his evil twin or doppelganger to emerge from the waters of the lake in order to end the life of the person who is on the surface and replace him. Grandfather Thomas knew this perfectly well and that is why he hides everything that happens to his grandchildren, because as we see it is something very complicated to explain and can become not very credible.

For his part, Thomas sets out in search of his daughter in the company of a friend, while the boys take it upon themselves to find out more and more about the mysterious town.
Memories emerge and we become aware of past relationships, grudges and people who are not really what they seem. This part seems to me to be a great plot twist and so I will omit it for those who decide to watch the series.

The father of the twins visits Curon with the intention of repairing things with his children, and here we find out why Mauro is deaf and why he separated from Anna. Anna, for her part, "returns" to the house; I put it in quotation marks because it is not she herself who returns, but her double, who, because of a mistake she makes, is discovered.
The boys, realizing that their mother is in danger and that there are more people involved in the kidnapping, decide to go for her along with their other two friends and go into the mountain alone, as their grandfather is in a delicate condition in the hospital.

Unfortunately when they get to the mountain, they meet Lukas' doppelganger (a friend of Mickie's) who kidnaps them, tortures them and ties them up to burn them alive, but he doesn't succeed thanks to a friend of the twins' grandfather, who unfortunately dies to save them all.
Things get interesting when we realize that there is chemistry between Daria and Giulio (Mickie's brother), for which Mickie is very jealous, since she likes Daria and for a moment thought that what she felt was reciprocated. The boys rest in a cabin all night and then wake up to continue the search.

The boys arrive at the place where their mother may be kidnapped, which is a kind of labyrinth, and if they are lucky they get out. In this part, things get complicated, because the doubles are in charge of confusing the boys at their convenience; for his part, Anna's double does his best to convince the boys that she is the real one and Anna (the real one) is trying to get them to recognize her, which, as you can see, is difficult.

Things get even more complicated and sad when Mickie and Giulio's father commits suicide and shoots the real Anna. Although at that instant no one knows that she is the real Anna, the intrigue rises to 100%, until Grandpa Thomas shows up along with Mickie and Giulio's mother (who is the double of her real mother) and discovers that Anna is not the real Anna.
Anna's doppelganger's life depended on her "daughter" Daria as she decided whether to let her go into the void or not. Fortunately Daria makes the best decision for everyone and lets her go.

The ending leaves us a bit intrigued, as we see Daria and Mickie hear the bells very loudly and we also see how in the frozen lake, two people try to get out of it.

I really look forward to the continuation of this series, because there really are many things left unfinished, I hope you liked the analysis a lot and as always, thanks for reading and watching!❤️
