"Abduction" by John Singleton - movie review

Review by @godflesh · 2901d · of Abduction

When a movie has no screening for journalists, it's usually a bad sign. When there is, but you sign a document that you can not make a review of his premiere, it's the same, but a little more concealed (hidden under some "legal stuff"), so if you are someone yesterday to lie and be say that behind all this there are reasons that have nothing to do with the movie's qualities. For example, the studio is concerned not to spoil the "cinema holiday" if someone takes the unexpected end. In general, what Lionsgate does not want you to know is that "Hijacked" is one, to take advantage of Taylor Lautner's popularity. Understand, they're looking for some trendy teenager's favorite (because their demographic group is the strongest when it comes to cinema), they've seen that from Twilight they do not know (perhaps only Harry Potter) and they understandably stopped at Lautner (Pattinson would physically not fit into the role). Once they have secured this ... star, they just had to pack it in some form. The boy is cool and athletic, why not take advantage, decide to make a spy action.

The next step is to figure out the story and, given that their idea is not to make quality cinema, they choose the most worn-out possible MacGuffin in the world - a coded list of agent names that are sought by villains operating on both sides of the law. There are some good actors to add to some weight - Jason Isaacs, Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, and even Maria Bello - and one, once meant a name for a director, namely John Singleton. For the finale, in order for things to be super-calculated and dry, they decide to let us with a philosophical theme in the form of a mega-obvious metaphor of the "search for the meaning of who I am actually" to be able to say "Behold, we are dealing with eternal human problems." Here's the story itself. Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) is a teenager who feels alien in his own skin and feels like someone else's life lives. One day his anguish turns into reality when he falls into his photo as a little boy on a missing children website and discovers that the people he lives with are not his real parents and his life is a lie. But behind his personal story, there is a secret that soon sends off his merciless assassins and a team of federal agents. Without knowing whom to trust, Nathan can only run and follow the only clue he has about his true identity.

If you are worried that there is no mention of a girl, calm even the smallest chances of something interesting - at least in the scenario level - are scarred, because, besides being one, she is the "girl from the neighboring house" (literally) Lauter's hero has been in love with her for years, but she has not told her so she can understand and make hot sex at the height of the movie. In fact, she finds the site that leads him to the discovery that he is adopted, but that does not matter. Now, if Jason Statham was involved in the movie, the whole thing would not be so bad, he would actually go for one of his middle-class films. Unfortunately, for reasons we have explained above, Laurent is the role and the end result is tragic. Generally, there are few teenagers who may seem plausible, staying with giants and robed spies, but Lautner is pretty good physically and does not seem ridiculous. The problem is that the boy just can not play, as he even calls, if his life depends on it. It makes you believe that Robert Pattinson really can become a man.

As always, what can save the situation is the quality action, but here too, things are not getting - there is no originality and the individual episodes are so ... lazy that there is simply no way to go. Especially the final outcome. And when I said a final outing, let me say that perhaps there was no twist like "the killer I am, but I have a split personality and I do not remember" is the only positive thing in the whole story. And by the possibility of some thematic, spin-off or literal sequel to this thing, chills hit me. In conclusion, I can only say, a pity for Isaac and Molina, and partly for Weaver and Bello that they have waste their time on this film. Recommended only for Luther's mega-fans.
