I made a post about part one yesterday, putting all the cast and main characters. And what is part one without part two? That means the equation is never balanced like that. That is why I have brought the review about the second part, and I am so glad that a lot of people like this movie just like I also do.
After I finished watching part one with my friend, he didn't even allow it to settle well before he told us to continue with part two, the question still hanging in the room, "Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?” like something that we were searching for, and we needed to get the answer to before we slept.
The part 2 of Baahubali was released two years after part one, and it also starred some people I earlier mentioned, Sathyaraj as Kattappa, the only man who has all the answers we have been waiting for. Prabhas, who came back with a double role, Anushka Shetty as Devasena and Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva. Again, S.S. Rajamouli directed the movie.
While touring the Kingdom, Amarendra Baahubali fell in love with Devasena, and the movie runtime this time was majorly inside Kattappa's flashback. And fallen in love with Devasena, Baahubali's cousin, Bhallaladeva was moving around with jealousy that his own father also quietly fed for years, whereby he manipulated the queen mother, Sivagami, into a promise that Devasena would be hers. This was a little thing at first, but as time went on, it went into a betrayal mode inside the palace, and at the end of the day, it forced Kattappa's hand.
I felt something different about this part two, and it totally stood out from what I saw in the first part, which was how Baahubali shifted from being a villain. This part showed how his own people betrayed him by weaponizing his own insecurities against him, and also, this time around, Baahubali's eventual cruelty finally landed much more heavily than simple evil ever could have.
Everything in this part felt a bit different from the first part, and I guess that was why it was two years apart. There was less wandering, unlike part one, where some of the scenes brought confusion; this one brought clarity and answers that were hidden from us. He finally understood his father and the story of where he was coming from, which eventually gave me what I needed that moment. A chill.
If part one showed me how this movie should be celebrated beyond the country and industry, I will tell you that after watching this second part, I now understood why some people say this is one of the greatest cinematic achievements from Bollywood. If you want to enjoy it, make sure it's on the weekend when you have the whole time to yourself and watch back to back.
