I honestly can not understand the popularity of this person. I obviously am not alone in my feelings but given the immense size of her latest special in Chicago (enormous venue) there are plenty of people that find her funny. I don't know many of them though.
This was just released yesterday as far as i know and I don't know what sort of deal Amy has with Netflix but all of us who subscribe to them had this pretty much forced on us. I watched it out of morbid curiosity because "The Leather Special" was so unbelievable awful that I suppose I wanted to watch another cringe-fest.
It didn't deliver on that front and I have to give Amy props for this. Apparently she maybe learned a lesson from the disastrous train-wreck (pun intended) that was "The Leather Special" which was lampooned by the public and critics pretty much across the board. Netflix tried to do some damage control by eliminating 1-star votes but at that point it was already pretty well-known that it was horrible.
An extremely pregnant Schumer decided to step away from being crude simply for the sake of being crude and instead focuses on mostly self-deprecating humor focused on herself and her husband. I have to admit I even laughed a little.
Many times I sat staring at the screen wondering what the audience was laughing at. It almost seemed like an episode of Friends where the laughter is just canned and put in the show by a computer. I mean some of what she said was mildly humorous but the roaring laughter of the crowd just seemed fake. Oh well, I don't know everything but I just don't find this person terribly funny.
I feel as though Amy is one of the most over-hyped comics on the planet and doesn't deserve the level of spotlight that she has somehow managed to obtain. However I will say that this special is MUCH better than her last feature, but to be honest, that isn't saying very much since the Leather Special might be the most unfunny thing I have ever seen.
