Mo Money (film): A silly and fun Damon Wayans trip

Review by @gooddream · 2838d · of Mo' Money

Damon Wayans is (i think) the most successful of the Wayans and when this movie was released he was kind of at the peak of his career. He had emerged from the same variety show that brought us Jim Carrey called "In Living Color." Although he has all but dissappeard from the entertainment scene, i feel as though this film was one of his best comedies from the early 90's

Wayans plays Johnny Stewart, a con man who works the streets, sometimes with the help of his brother Seymour (Marlon Wayans) while portraying hilarious various characters - some of which were inspired by skits from In Living Color.

One day he meets a girl on the street that inspires him to change his ways. Her name is Amber Evans (played by the stunning Stacy Dash.) He flirts with her in vain and actually follows her to her office where he applies for a job in the mailroom and eventually gets hired. Even his resume / CV was a con as he doesn't even know his own Social Security number.

Because this isn't enough of a plot on its own he actually discovers some illegal activities going on inside the company and ends up making problems for himself with the villain of the movie, who happens to be his boss.

What makes this movie great is the various characters that the the Wayans have to play in order to pull off their various cons throughout the film. I am happy that the world hadn't gone PC crazy back in that time because several of his personas such as playing extremely flamboyant gay men or a scene where he is mentally handicapped would probably cause an outpouring of unnecessary protest in these times.

I laughed just watching the trailer because it brings back such fond memories. I don't know what happened to Damon, I haven't seen him in a while, but back in 92, he was one of the biggest comedy stars around.

This movie is one of my all time favourites! If you enjoyed the humour from In Living Color, then you will really appreciate this movie. The movie is so enjoyable to watch because it has a bit of everything in it-action, comedy, romance and of course with the Wayans brothers you are sure to have good time! I liked seeing Damon's softer side towards Stacy Dash, and Marlon's jealousy towards his brother's relationship with this girl. Also, the nightclub scene is a riot! Overall,it is a great movie to watch, especially if you are a fan of the Wayans family, plus it has a wicked soundtrack as well!

As much as I loved In Living Color I really wanted to like this movie.I also wanted to like this movie as much as I thought I once did.It was just OK.It held my attention for awhile but I noticed myself doing other things, forgetting it was on & having it on as background noise a few times.I think the best & funniest parts of the movie were the In Living Color type moments. The thing that amazed me about this movie was that it went from being a comedy to a romantic comedy to an action flick.I don't think I'd recommend anybody to go out of their way to see it but if it's on & absolutely nothing else is on, you're bored out of your mind then I'd tell you to watch it.Too be honest with you, Even then I'm not sure I'd tell you to watch it.There's probably another movie out there you could be watching

Damon and Marlon are a good team, I think they made 3 or 4 movies and Stace Dash Oh my!!😍I watched "clueless" just because she was there.😁
