I didn't know anything about Niki Lauda and James Hunt - who this story is built around for the most part. All I knew was that Ron Howard was involved and they had a decent budget. Plus racing car movies tend to be fun. The fact that this was biographical simply made it appeal to me more.

James Hunt (Thor) is an English race car driver with great skill and a penchant for taking risks on and off the track. Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) is a calculating Austrian who favors great precision over wild decision making. The two of them develop a rivalry at the lower ranks of the global racing circuit and this continues to the very top, where they are consistently neck-in-neck in all of the events.

Formula 1 was very different in the 70's than it is today, and I don't mean just that it was possible to advertise booze and cigarettes on the cars.

What i mean is that, obviously, technology was very different back then and a lot of the safety aspects we have in place today didn't exist - this is shown quite well in the film and it just one of the reasons why this movie is fantastic. While the major plot in the movie is on the rivalry that exists between Lauda and Hunt, the minor issue of the film is about how some safety advancements were brought on by Lauda's encouragement and also because he suffered a terrible near-fatal crash that resulted in severe injuries that kept him in hospital for 6 weeks.

This is one of the better trailers i have seen for any movie and it says a lot about how the overall vibe of the movie is. I don't recall anything bad about this film at all, but I still wouldn't give it legendary status. For people who have no interest in racing, this film may seem a bit long. The film faced some criticism for amplifying their rivalry when in real life they were great friends and actually shared an apartment at one point in their lives.

Rush is exhilarating, gripping, emotional and inspirational, and these are just a few adjectives to describe it. The performances by Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl were fantastic. Chris Hemsworth should perform in more of these roles rather than sticking with Thor. Throughout this movie, Chris Hemsworth was James Hunt, and not at a single moment did I think that he was Thor. This shows the potential in his acting. Ron Howard knows exactly what he is doing, and Rush deserves more attention than it is getting. Ron Howard's directing skills deserve to be noticed because this was a genuinely thrilling film. This rivalry is wildly stimulating and definitely keeps you on your toes. From the cars to the conversations, it all wraps up together to present a wonderful gift of a movie. This movie was a true joy to watch and was better than I had anticipated. That says something because honestly, I came into this movie some high expectations.

Dude I LOVE this film! I’m a big motorsport fan so was pumped when it was getting to be released and loved watching it, really well done and awesome! Such a big difference between f1 back in the day and today!
