Maybe that was the weirdest watch that I had during my flight. I remember watching the trailer for this movie sometime in the past,t and I saw it listed as a release in the airplane app. The idea of the movie is an owner of a failed furniture shop with a failed life who was even sleeping in the store finds out about his invisible door to extra rooms in his store that defy the laws. The movie brings our curiosity to where it will end; are these rooms infinite? And from where it appeared? An extra dimension? A spiritual world?

The movie features a young director called Kane Parsons, who began with YouTube videos, and this was his debut asa director when he was 20 years old. Chiwetel Ejiofor is Clark, the failed furniture seller. I remember him from The Life of Chuck, and he plays well in this type of character, a person who is trying to seek answers in his life and in the end gets another big question of understanding what is going on in his store. The movie also brings Renate Reinsve as Clark's psychologist, Mary, who also enters the world of the backrooms in search of Clark.

Mary also has some problems in her past since she is a daughter with a mom who locked her out of the world, and she could only be freed after the world found them locked, and her mom lost her custody and got into a madhouse. She became a psychotherapist to try to fix people since she couldn't fix her mom. But in the end, the backroom becomes a place where nothing makes sense,e which includes creatures based on real people that can be terrifying and kill you. And it keeps modifying itself using your own fantasies and memories. That's why the room looks like the furniture shop while you see only Clark there, but with Mary you also see remains of her past in there.

The movie ends differently for Clark and Mary. While the first one saw that place as an escape from his terrible life, Mary decided that even if her life had bad moments, she wouldn'tstayp trapped there, and she decided that she would escape aat all costs But the ending is a bit confusing when she finds the end of the movie, when we question if Mary could really escape that place.

It is a weird movie indeed, but if you are a fan of sci-fi and horror mmoviess it is a good shot to try something different. And it is disturbing; it is so bizarre that it takes our mind to a disturbing place. It is a solid beginning for this young director, and hopefully he creates something more different next time.

  • This is a bizarre form of suspense/horror from the YT Channel Kane Pixels with a big following up until all sorts of 'Backrooms' clones started flooding YT. Then the novelty wore off. !PIZZA

I really like the idea that the backrooms change depending on the person exploring them. Sound like a fun movie to try.

I have this movie on my watchlist and the image of the tall, weird looking character was what caught my attention. I enjoy sci-fi but from your review, I gather it's also a psychological thriller sort of. Being trapped in a realm without a means of escape can be scary and disturbing. Now I'm curious to know how this movie ends. Good review!

This sounds like one seriously weird movie 😄 I do enjoy a good sci-fi movie that leaves you wondering what on earth is going on! Definitely adding this one to my watchlist. Great review! 👍
