This time I want to talk to you about a Netflix series, in which you won't be able to stop laughing, it's about Los Briceño.

Los Briceño is a Colombian series of the comedy-drama genre produced and distributed by the Caracol Televisión network, also broadcast on the Netflix platform, starring Katherine Escobar, Juan Manuel Restrepo and Mario Espitia, premiered in 2019 for all Latin America and consists of 63 chapters. This series chronicles the life of an ordinary Colombian family dedicated to driving cargo trucks, a profession that for them is of utmost importance and they see it as a tradition that must be passed from generation to generation.
However, the plot focuses on Cecilia (La chiqui) who is the youngest daughter of Don Armando and Doña Lucia; these families are very rooted to the traditions, a little closed and archaic, they want their sons to continue with the legacy of the Briceño family. When their sixteen year old daughter, Cecilia, becomes pregnant, her whole family points her out and decides not to forgive her; that is why she does not reveal the identity of her daughter's father, but this worsens the situation and her father runs her out of the house.
She was left totally unprotected, homeless and with the father of her daughter married to another woman, so she decided to stay on the coast and get ahead alone. But there was always someone there to support her, a young man who was raised by her mother but who had always been in love with her, it was Peluche, who would help her fulfill her dream of becoming a mule driver like her father.
Los Briceño is more like a novela format than a series, however there are no long dramas like in the telenovelas of the 2000's. It is a super entertaining production, where you will laugh a lot from the beginning to the end, especially with the sayings of Don Armando, who is played by actor Cesar Mora. It is a super entertaining production, where you will laugh a lot from beginning to end especially with the sayings of Don Armando, who is played by actor Cesar Mora, who in my opinion is one of the best actors in Colombian television; so if your intention is to spend a relaxed and fun time this is an excellent choice.
Now, I must confess that the series transmits machismo everywhere, it generates a lot of impotence to see how Cecilia made things so difficult for the simple fact of being a woman, she had to endure abuse, humiliation, sabotage and contempt even from her own family, because they claimed that this was not a job for women, that women should be at home taking care of the family. The good thing is that she never gave up and was even the one who continued with the family legacy and managed not only to manage mules but to create a company, making it clear that women deserve the same opportunities as men and that professions are not related to gender but to the skills and talents of each person.
I think that from this series, we should analyze ourselves as a society and see how open we are to change and remember that we all have the right to dream and fulfill our dreams. On the other hand, it is good to note that I really liked the series because it goes out of the classic of most Colombian series, which are dedicated to drug trafficking, murder and prostitution; highlighting that there are other genres that can also be developed and showing that Colombia is not only drug trafficking but has very positive aspects within its culture.
