Yuukoku no Moriarty (Lord of Crime VS The Greatest Detective)

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The story is mainly about William James Moriarty, the second son of the Moriarty household, and his brothers Louis and Albert. They all live as regular nobles.
Albert, the first son, works in the government. William, with the help of the youngest son Louis, works as a consultant for the commoners and gives them a hand in solving whatever problems they have.
In those days (around the late 19th century), Great Britain became the greatest empire. Unfortunately, greatness often comes with greed and unfairness. This was also the case depicted in the anime. The empire favors the higher ranked and belittles those who are in the working and impoverished classes.
Because of this, James Moriarty (the three brothers) played the "anti-hero" to destroy the British empire's current system and all the aristocrats that benefits from it.

William being the mind behind all things lead their own movement in punishing the evil-doers. You can liken him to KIRA of Death Note. His ways of doing things may be on the negative side, but his purpose is pure.
In Death Note, Kira has a pursuer known as L. As for William, he found his nemesis but at the same time an amazing friend in Sherlock Holmes.
It's a battle of wits between these two amazing characters. Will Sherlock discover his friend's secret or will William make Sherlock a part of his plans? Find out more by watching the anime. ;)

WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT IT?

I must say, I was impressed. I haven't read Sherlock Holmes, but I did watch some movies including his sister's. I'm glad I did because I could compare the Sherlock in those films and this animated series. I also learned more about familiar characters.
Every detective deserves a perfect crime to solve. And Sherlock deserves to have the Lord of Crime for him to keep entertained. It goes both ways. I love it when the characters use their intelligence and wit to one up each other.
I personally love really intelligent characters like Sherlock and William from this anime, Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass, L and Kira of Deathnote, and the list goes on.
Art style-wise, it was superb. I like the art style and animation of this series. It's pleasing to the eyes, yet gives you various levels of excitement.
The characters, both main and supporting ones, were awesome. Ohh, there's this character that really caught my attention for a different reason.

In the otaku world, some anime characters traverse other animated films or series. This character Sebastian Moran is the more cunning and badass, older, sexier and sniper version of Kuroo Tetsurou of Haikyuu!! When I first saw him in the series (perhaps around the 4th-5th episode), I was flabbergasted! In my mind, I was like WTF is my hubby Kuroo doing in this anime?... xDDD
Lastly, the opening and ending songs were also really good. I enjoyed them... there were times when I stop Netflix from skipping the OP and ED. haha
There are two seasons available on Netflix; 24 episodes in total. I don't know the exact detail but a third season was announced to be released next year, so I'm truly happy.
