THE STORY LINE The movie tells the story of Kenneth Chamberlain, a 70-year-old Black man who accidentally pushes his life alert button while he's sleeping, does not hear the company when they call to check on him and so they send a police wellness check to his door. He is a war veteran with PTSD and a history of rough encounters with the police and does not want them in his home. After repeatedly and kindly asking them to leave, reassuring them that he's okay, they end up forcing their way in and ultimately shooting and killing him. The whole event takes place over about an hour and a half, from him accidentally pushing his button at 5:30 in the morning and by 7:00 a.m. he's dead. The major character in the movie is Frankie Faison who delivers a riveting performance in his portrayal of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. (Courtesy of Redbird Entertainment). While removing his LifeAid necklace before going to bed, 68-year-old retired Marine Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. accidentally pressed the alert button. Sound asleep, he did not hear the LifeAid callback. Officers were sent to do a welfare check on Chamberlain, a move that would cost him his life.

REVIEW

Many questions arise as to why a black man would not be given the chance to explain himself and be accountable for it. The movies is an emotional roller coaster of intense emotions. It prompted a surge where I wanted to reason with the police, to diffuse and to tell them they have no right to dominate so glibly. It is not their job to force citizens to comply with their unlawful requests. It would have been better if it was all a fictional thing, but to realize that this same incident happened to human being is alarming just because of a mere mistake. The movie just simply shows the truth about a real criminal incident with until this day- no consequences for the criminals.

A devastating and intense film. Police brutality is always a touchy subject and how horrible to think that this happened in real life, that a man's life was put to an end in less than an hour and a half. It's no surprise that the officers haven't suffered the consequences.
