My Review
As will all of my reviews I will not go into the plot I loved Damien Chazelle's Whiplash and I hated First Man. I know the reviews have been good for the artsy fartsy film which First Man is, but I hated it for the same reason people love it.
I had a hard time watching the grainy first person camera view which most of the movie is shot it. It mimics a Super 8 home movie, but the continued camera shaking and the extreme closeups made this a visually nauseating experience.
Many of the people in the theater I saw it in complained of motion sickness after watching this extremely long movie.
When they landed on the moon the film turned into Imax and it was visually stunning and majestic. I firmly believe the entire movie should have been shot this way to show the majesty of one of the great moments in US History, rather than turning it into a shakey home movie.
