Sigo un poco en modo película navideña hasta esta semana (tal vez hasta la semana próxima, dependiendo de con que otra película me tropiezo esta semana próxima). Ayer domingo me conseguí con varias películas de navidad y la única que me convenció fue "Something from Tiffany's".

I'm still kind of in Christmas movie mode until this week (maybe next week, depending on what other movie I stumble upon this coming week). Yesterday Sunday I got several Christmas movies and the only one that convinced me was "Something from Tiffany's".

Antes de verla su fui directo a verme el trailer porque no quería invertir tiempo en algo que no sabía si iba a funcionar y entre todos los trailers que vi, me quedé con esta película y no fue una perdida de tiempo como lo esperaba; fue una sorpresa ver lo original de la historia y como iba a desarrollarse durante todo el film.

Before seeing it, I went straight to see the trailer because I didn't want to invest time in something that I didn't know if it was going to work and among all the trailers I saw, I stayed with this movie and it was not a waste of time as I expected; It was a surprise to see how original the story was and how it was going to develop throughout the film.

Comienza bastante directa, no hay nada de material extra o innecesario, eso me agradó mucho porque tanto relleno en una película me aburre. Hay un accidente que se vuelve el tema principal durante toda la película, es consecuencial, esencial para la trama de la película y el tema perdura hasta los últimos 15 minutos.

It starts off pretty straight forward, there isn't any extra or unnecessary material, I liked that a lot because so much filler in a movie bores me. There is an accident that becomes the main theme throughout the film, it is consequential, essential to the plot of the film, and the theme lasts until the last 15 minutes.

Dos hombres compran un obsequio para sus respectivas novias en la misma tienda (Tiffanys), al mismo momento; durante el incidente, las bolsas de compras de ambos se intercambian por error y cada uno se va con un obsequio distinto al que compró, lo cual complica ambas relaciones cuando los obsequios son entregados a sus respectivas novias.

Two men buy a gift for their respective girlfriends in the same store (Tiffanys), at the same moment; During the incident, both of their shopping bags are exchanged by mistake and each one leaves with a different gift than the one he bought, which complicates both relationships when the gifts are delivered to their respective girlfriends.

All this happens on Christmas Eve and the gifts are delivered on Christmas morning which includes the Christmas parties in the story but is not 100% directly connected to the story as we can see in other movies.

Honestamente, la historia me pareció muy original y el tratamiento de la trama y la interacción entre ambas parejas fue bastante buena. Conectar las relaciones por medio de un error como el del intercambio de regalos fue bastante astuto y lo trabajaron de una manera creíble, a pesar de ser una rom-com. Con respecto a este último punto, por momentos se sintió un tanto cursi pero es entendible.

Honestly, I found the story very original and the treatment of the plot and the interaction between the two couples was quite good. Connecting relationships via a bug like the gift exchange was pretty clever and they worked it off in a believable way, despite being a rom-com. Regarding this last point, at times it felt a bit cheesy but it is understandable.

La comedia estuvo bastante sutil pero no fue exagerada, eso me gustó; más de una buena sonrisa y una que otra carcajada dejé salir entre una escena y otra pero se mantuvo bastante clásica. Hubo pequeños momentos de drama pero nada exagerado o muy intenso, fueron bastante ligeros y creo que hasta predecibles fueron.

The comedy was quite subtle but not over the top, I liked that; more than one good smile and the occasional laugh I let out between one scene and another but it remained quite classic. There were small moments of drama but nothing exaggerated or very intense, they were quite light and I think they were even predictable.

Los actores fueron los indicados, a la única actriz que reconocí fue "Shay Mitchell" (Por la serie "YOU"), de resto, todos para mi fueron nuevos y me gustó bastante su trabajo en esta película. Quien se robó un poco la atención para mi fue la actriz juvenil "Leah Jeffries", creo que fue muy graciosa y bastante buena para ser la primera vez que la veo actuar en algo, su futuro en la industrial puede ser bastante bueno.

The actors were the right ones, the only actress I recognized was "Shay Mitchell" (For the "YOU" series), otherwise, they were all new to me and I really liked their work in this movie. The one who stole the spotlight for me was the youthful actress "Leah Jeffries", I think she was very funny and quite good for my first time seeing her act in something, the future of her in the industrial can be quite good.

Poco fue el uso de efectos especiales y eso lo agradezco. Las locaciones en New York fueron increíbles, el clima frío y la nieve fueron propicios para adentrarnos en el ambiente navideño que querían hacernos vernos ver y lo lograron. Netflix debería aprender de Amazon Studios con respecto al uso de nieve falsa en sus películas navideñas; realizaron una combinación entre nieve real y nieve en EE y no lo sentí tan ficticio como en otras películas.

Little was the use of special effects and I appreciate that. The locations in New York were incredible, the cold weather and the snow were conducive to getting us into the Christmas atmosphere that they wanted to make us see ourselves see and they succeeded. Netflix should learn from Amazon Studios regarding the use of fake snow in their Christmas movies; They did a mix between real snow and snow in EE and it didn't feel as fictional as in other movies.

Un detalle en la historia que se repite como en otras películas que he visto recientemente es el hecho de involucrarse sentimentalmente con personas con parejas o comprometidas y lo hacen pasar como algo común y corriente y creo que reforzar ese aspecto en historias como esta (que por cierto está basado en una novela que lleva el mismo nombre) solo nos aleja más de respetar y comportarnos de cierta forma cuando se está tratando con personas en una relación.

A detail in the story that is repeated as in other films that I have seen recently is the fact of becoming romantically involved with people with partners or engaged and they pass it off as something common and ordinary and I think that reinforcing that aspect in stories like this (which by the way it is based on a novel that bears the same name) it only takes us further away from respecting and behaving in a certain way when dealing with people in a relationship.

Más allá de ese punto, creo que es una película buena, me gustó y valió la hora y media que me tomó verla. La recomendaría y tal vez pueda volver a verla, pero no será este año.

Beyond that point, I think it's a good movie, I liked it and it was worth the hour and a half it took me to watch it. I would recommend it and maybe I can see it again, but it won't be this year.
