Ayer, revisando el catálogo de películas del año pasado, me encontré con esta locura de film protagonizado por Daniel Radcliffe y que honestamente había olvidado por completo, solo vi el trailer cuando salió y luego la dejé en el olvido hasta que el día de ayer me apareció entre el listado de películas del 2022 y le di la oportunidad, a pesar de su duración y hoy quiero hablarles sobre ella.
Yesterday, going through last year's catalog of movies, I came across this crazy film starring Daniel Radcliffe and that honestly I had completely forgotten, I only saw the trailer when it came out and then I left it in oblivion until that yesterday it appeared to me among the list of 2022 movies and I gave it the opportunity, despite its duration and today I want to talk to you about it.
La película narra la vida del artista Weird Al Yankovic y su particular manera de rehacer canciones famosas cambiándoles la letra original para darles una nueva vida pero desde el punto de vista satírico. También se centra en su ambiente familiar y dejan ver la complicada dinámica familiar en su casa y como salta a la fama tras grabar en el baño de una estación de gas su primera parodia.
The film narrates the life of the artist Weird Al Yankovic and his particular way of remaking famous songs by changing the original lyrics to give them a new life but from a satirical point of view. It also focuses on his family environment and shows the complicated family dynamics in his house and how he rises to fame after filming his first parody in the bathroom of a gas station.

"Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" es producido por Roku Original (servicio streaming del cual he oído o visto muy poco de su contenido, para no decir que no he visto nada sobre ellos) y fue estrenado el año pasado, aunque pasó un tanto desapercibido debido a que no todo el mundo está ciertamente familiarizado con el trabajo de Weird Al Yankovic.
"Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" is produced by Roku Original _(streaming service whose content I've heard or seen very little of, not to say I haven't seen anything about) _ and it was released last year, although it went somewhat under the radar as not everyone is certainly familiar with the work of Weird Al Yankovic.
La película es en base autobiográfica y tiene además bastante parodia y sátira, algo con lo que tal vez muchos espectadores no puedan simpatizar, porque si bien es cierto que habla sobre parte de lo que fue su ascenso a la fama y su vida familiar y personal, no cabe duda que por ser un personaje como lo es Weird Al Yankovic, algo extraño iba a tener el film, y si que lo tuvo.
The film is autobiographical based and also has a lot of parody and satire, something that many viewers may not be able to sympathize with, because although it is true that it talks about part of what was his rise to fame and his family and personal life There is no doubt that because he is a character like Weird Al Yankovic, the film was going to have something strange, and it did.

Su vida como hijo único dentro de un hogar disfuncional se dejó entrever durante algunos momentos del film y muchos de esos momentos lo privaron de tener una relación estrecha con su padre y hasta con su madre, ya que constantemente le era prohibido realizar cualquier actividad artística por razones que al final del film se explican y la verdad se justifican bastante bien.

Hablando del film creo que fue producido bastante bien, teniendo en cuenta que solo les tomó 18 días para grabar toda la película. El cast estuvo bastante bien, algunas de las caras me fueron fáciles de reconocer mientras que otras no lo fueron tanto, pero de igual forma creo que fue un cast bastante bien elegido. Los cameos que más me tomaron por sorpresa creo que fueron los del mismo Weird Al Yankovic y el de Jack Black, pero fueron muchos los cameos que se vieron durante toda la película.
Speaking of the film, I think it was produced quite well, considering that it only took them 18 days to shoot the entire film. The cast was pretty good, some of the faces were easy for me to recognize while others weren't, but I still think it was a pretty well-chosen cast. The cameos that took me by surprise the most I think were Weird Al Yankovic himself and Jack Black, but there were many cameos that were seen throughout the film.
Con respecto al trabajo actoral de Daniel Radcliffe creo que ha sido sin duda uno de sus mejores, dejando de lado el trabajo que lo catapultó a la fama, por supuesto. Fue un trabajo sólido e interesante de ver, debido a que no me imaginaba como iba a poder llevar el peso de interpretar a Weird Al Yankovic, teniendo en cuenta que el hombre tiene una chispa de gracia que no sabía si Radcliffe podía replicar en pantalla; pero lo logró hasta cierto punto.
Regarding the acting work of Daniel Radcliffe I think it has been without a doubt one of his best, leaving aside the work that catapulted him to fame, of course. It was solid and interesting work to watch, as I had no idea how I was going to carry the weight of playing Weird Al Yankovic, considering that the man has a spark of grace that I didn't know if Radcliffe could replicate on screen; but he succeeded up to a point.
Poco he tenido la oportunidad de verlo actuar en un papel que me haga olvidar que fue Harry Potter y creo que en esta oportunidad pude verlo más como el actor que es y no como el personaje que ya dejó atrás. Su actuación fue bastante buena, aunque el film no haya recibido la atención suficiente, vale rescatar su trabajo y el del elenco entero.
I have not had the opportunity to see him act in a role that makes me forget that it was Harry Potter and I think that this time I was able to see him more as the actor he is and not as the character he has already left behind. His performance was quite good, although the film has not received enough attention, it is worth rescuing his work and that of the entire cast.

Si lo tuyo son las películas biográfica, te la puedo recomendar pero no que vayas inmediatamente a verla, aunque es entretenida, estoy seguro que habrá films de este estilo con algo mejor que dejar; pero mantenla presente por si sientes curiosidad de conocer parte de la historia de Weird Al Yankovic.
If biographical films are your thing, I can recommend it but don't go immediately to see it, although it's entertaining, I'm sure there will be films of this style with something better to leave behind; but keep it in mind in case you're curious about some of the history of Weird Al Yankovic.
