Cuándo comienza la película nos muestra a una estudiante de arqueología urbana que llega a Irán para obtener información sobre la historia (de una forma bastante arriesgada), consigue un mensaje importante, para luego ser completamente derrumbada a pocos segundos de ella poder salir, podemos notar en la entrevista que le hacen que ella ama lo hace, es muy curiosa y lo que ella quiere conseguir, que en esta oportunidad es la piedra Filosofal, de forma muy apasionada dice que solo quiere saber la verdad, conocer todos los hechos, por lo tanto se concentra en una búsqueda exhaustiva.

Llegaron a un museo donde estaba la lápida de Nicolás Flamel el creador de la piedra filosofal y que según el padre de Nuestra protagonista Scarlett el cual también se dedicaba a lo mismo y se había suicidado, debían estar ahí las pistas para conseguir la piedra, y lo hace, pero en una lengua muerta que desconoce.

El chico le advierte al otro que la última vez que estuvieron juntos ella lo dejó solo y él fué a prisión por lo que solo aceptó a ayudar a traducir el mensaje y ya.
She attends a church where one of her acquaintances is fixing a bell, clearly it is not her best situation with the guy and it is uncomfortable for him, since she has an assistant who is recording at all times. Luego de tener ideas más claras pueden saber que hay una cámara oculta dónde puede estar la piedra, a lo que el chico claramente le recalca que él no va a bajar ahí, y que la única manera de llegar serían las catacumbas.

Ya estando en una visita guiada en dichas catacumbas se consiguen a un muchacho que les recomienda buscar a alguien que si se conoce el lugar de verdad, es llamado Papillon, al conseguirlo aclara que él no es un simple guía, a lo que él aclara que ella no es una simple turista. A lo que él pide el 50% de los tesoros que se puedan encontrar y posteriormente le presenta a su equipo un chico que es su amigo y su novia.
Already being on a guided tour in these catacombs they get a boy who recommends them to look for someone who really knows the place, he is called Papillon, when they get him he clarifies that he is not a simple guide, to which he clarifies that she is not a simple tourist. Al caer la noche logran entrar a las catacumbas y George su conocido traductor le recuerda que el no va a entrar, lo que se ve opacado por un policía el cual ataca al darse cuenta del sitio donde están obligando al chico a entrar en las catacumbas, Scarlett rápidamente consigue el pasadizo correcto por el que deben ir, pero poco a poco todo se va haciendo más inquietante, claramente ella va con el objetivo de una hallazgo histórico pero Papillon va con un claro objetivo de obtener riquezas y conocer el lugar dejando su firma en una pared y dejando en claro que solo hay un pasadizo al que no pueden pasar, ya que, un amigo de él el cual lo apodaban "el topo" era el que le enseñó por dónde ir, teniendo en cuenta que algunos pasadizos habían colapsado con el tiempo y explicaba que el chico había entrado por ahí y nunca más habían salido, a lo que Scarlett le dijo que por ahí decía su mapa que era el camino correcto pero desistió ya que nadie quería pasar por ese lugar.

Todo comenzó a volverse extraño al tomar el otro pasadizo y darse cuenta que volvían al mismo sitio, dejando a Papillon sin explicación alguna ya que se supone que los pasadizos son rectos, completamente rectos y debido a un derrumbe deben entrar por el camino por el que no querían ir comenzando a ver cosas extrañas, cultos raros y malos juegos que le hacía su propia mente.

Esta es una de mis películas favoritas con respecto a la experiencia que brinda al espectador al ser un found footage, una película magnífica, te lleva literalmente por el infierno y la desesperación mostrando los diferentes círculos o niveles del infierno, la quería ver desde hace tantos años y hace poco coincidí que la estaban pasando por la tv, está bastante viejita pero de verdad los creadores le supieron; lo único que considero raro es que el guión hace de las suyas, no hay por qué mentirnos, hay salvadas de guión en varios sitios pero por todo lo demás, una joya.
