🎬 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Movie Review

Review by @incublus Β· 1487d Β· of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Hello all of you dear Movies & TV Shows community members, I've just joined Hive and as I said in my introduction post, I love watching movies. I've been watching movies and talking about movies with my friends since I was 13-14 years old, but this will be my first post about movies. I wanted to choose a special movie for this post and that movie is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I'm so excited, let's get started!

Introduction

This movie was released in 2004 and most of you have probably watched it and if you haven't, you should watch it right away. The title of the movie is a quote from Alexander Pope's poem 'Eloisa to Abelard'. You can watch the movie on the internet from almost all sites. It has been translated and dubbed into many languages. I am sure that even watching the trailer of the movie will attract you.

Description

The genre of the movie is Drama, Romance and Sci-Fi. I can't find 3 words to describe this movie better than that because there are plenty of them in the movie. You don't even realize how time passes with the excellent acting of the leading roles.

Speaking of leading roles, Jim Carrey plays Joel Barrish in the movie. The other leading role is Kate Winslet as Clementine Kruczynski. Joel is a simple person who goes to work and comes back every day. He is a very simple person with no extras and he is very shy. At the beginning of the movie, when he wakes up in the morning, he gives up going to work and decides to go to Montauk. He runs and jumps on the train and there he meets Clementine. Clementine, on the contrary, is very extroverted and talkative. As they talk, Clementine gives him her number and asks him to call her.

Joel calls her and they start seeing each other. They do a lot of things together. One of the most striking ones is the one you see on the cover of the movie, lying on a frozen lake and talking. As time goes on, they have disagreements and they start to fight. One night they have a big fight and they break up. After a few mornings, Clementine starts not recognizing and ignoring Joel. Joel can't get over it and tries to understand why this is happening. Because he is very much in love with Clementine.

While he is investigating, he learns that Clementine has erased all the memories of him from her memory and this makes him extremely sad. He gets depressed. Although years pass, he cannot overcome this situation and he decides to erase his memory. eternal_sunshine_of_the_spotless_mindsource

Employees come to his house to erase his memory and one of them is Elijah Wood as Patrick. You may recognize him from The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings. He is my most hated character in the show but we'll talk about that in my thoughts. Anyway, while his memory is being erased, Joel has a showdown with Clementine. While this is going on, Patrick and Stan start talking. Stan is the other eraser guy (played by Mark Buffalo and he's amazing) and Patrick says he met a girl and she's Joel's girlfriend. When he wipes his memory, he doesn't throw away the things he's supposed to throw away and he explains that he started living everything with Clementine as Joel did if it was his own. patrick source

Somehow Joel hears this and goes crazy. He realizes that he loves Clementine very much and never wants to leave her and tries to resist the erasure. The fact that Patrick stole his identity is also a big factor in this. Somehow he resists, but then Tom Wilkinson as Dr. Mierzwiak comes and erases his memory. Some time passes and Joel gives up going to work again. He runs and takes the train to Montauk and guess who he meets? I won't tell you the continuation and the end of the movie here and I won't spoil the magic for you, I think that's enough information. aaa source

Opinions

To be honest, this is one of the few most brain burning movies I have ever seen. You should be extremely careful while watching the movie and you should not miss any detail. Not every bad character has to endear himself. If some villains make you hate them, it shows that they are still good actors. Patrick is just such a character. I hated him for the disgusting things he did, but I still can't say he was a bad actor. Who steals someone else's lover and memories? It's disgusting. frodo source

In the movie I put myself in Joel's shoes and I thought a lot about what I would do if it happened to me. It's very hard to overcome something like that. Either you leave everything and move to a different city or you do what Joel did. There is no other way.

Conclusions

f you want to watch a movie about love and drama, this movie is for you. Especially one that burns your brain. It's a great script, great scenes and A perfect masterpiece directed by Michel Gondry. eternal_sunshine_of_the_spotless_mind_cfzmxq_1024x665 source

I didn't even blink my eyes while watching the movie because I didn't want to miss any scene. I hope you will watch it the same way. For example, it is a great movie to sit and watch with your lover. If you watch the movie or if you have already watched it, you can write your thoughts below in the comments. Thank you very much for reading.

Such an amazing movie. I can't think of many movies with Jim Carrey that I don't like. Even the new Sonic movies were good just for the fact that he had a significant role in them.

I always feel that Jim's best roles are the ones he's actually somewhat serious in.

And of course a script by Charlie Kaufman is often something of significant strength.

Really liked this movie, having some nostalgia for old movies lately so going to be watching the fifth element today and might check this one out some time later again. :D
