Hello Steemians, I hope you all are having a wonderful day, and I am too. In my last post, I mentioned that I would be writing daily. Well, I wrote a lengthy 500 words mail to a client yesterday. Explaining why the services cannot be provided as it is outside the domain, I could have posted that mail here in the Steemit but that would be unethical of me and honestly, I would get no votes. So I got back home watched a movie and decided to write the review. All thanks to @yesaye, whose post motivated me to sit my ass down and get the review of this one done. Yes, even the inuke’s story writing contest got revived. Thanks to the motivational talk from @whatamidoing. So I the other day I was having this discussion with one of my office friends about said something and his school days being miserable. And the discussion went on for some time and I got busy with work. Later when I came back to the room I was thinking about this one particular movie which I watched a long time back about a kid dealing with some of the weird school/college days. Maybe it is time to take a look back at the same movie.
This is the comedy film of 2004 the NAPOLEON DYNAMITE
Spoiler Alert: You might have already seen this movie several times or maybe just one time but it is fair only to give a spoiler alert, as I will be discussing the movie the plot and character developments. If you haven’t seen the movie you should watch it. Maybe you should watch.
The movie started with the paramount logo, which got me nervous and I double check it so that I don't end up watching the Transformer movie. Now the opening credit of the movie was very confusing, it was showing random items and food over a nice beautiful song “We’re going to be friends”, which I later understood and is actually very clever.
The opening shot establishes the nature of the lead very well a weirdo named Napoleon Dynamite, Played by Jon Heder. (You won’t find him on screen in many movies as he is voice actor) and with that one look, you can probably make out that he is the victim. And before you know it there he is getting bullied. There is this weirdness around this guy that you gotta love. I mean he is awkward the way he stands, and talk and it just awkward, That's it. Here we are introduced to another character Pedro played by Efren Ramirez, who plays an important role is later. A couple of minutes later we were introduced to his Brother Kip played by Aaron Ruell, a 30 something guys who just stays at home a just do Internet all day. Oh! who also training to be a cage fighter. (Coming to think of it he sounds like me, which is freaking me out) and there is the Grandma in a small role, possibly the coolest grandma of all. Within a short span, we are introduced to the female lead character Deb played by Tina Majorino. So when the Grandma gets herself into an accident at sand dune on a date, the bothers were joined by Uncle Rico played by Jon Gries. And that's it. That's the whole story, about Napoleon managing his school life, friendship and family. Every mundane activity of Napoleon and his family is the Movie Napoleon Dynamite. Yes, that's pretty much it. Oh! yes, and Pedro ran for the students' president and with the help of Napoleon wins it against all the odd.
This is a movie that everyone has been through, Not to that extent but a part of where you are trying to just fit in and make friends in school. I am not saying that everybody had experience as bizarre as Napoleon did, but we all had our highs and lows in the school and colleges. And at one point we had our dance. We had our moments where we stood against the odd never caring about the results or the outcome of the action. We did it because we were supposed to.
As for the Movie what can be said its either a beautiful awkward movie or an awkwardly beautiful movie. Every character in the movie is broken and filled with this negative energy, but at times you see the sparks and hope. The movie has its fun moments watch out for the breakfast in the barn. At times you feel sad and other times you would be thinking why the hell did he do that or maybe why am I even watching this? but trust me its all worth it in the end, because sometimes it's all about doing what you want to do. PS - This is my personal view of the Movie "Napoleon Dynamite", And it is to be taken lightly. All the comments that I made were on the performance of these actors and not the actor themselves. Do not take my word as a word of an expert.
