Gran Torino (2008)
Mi auto de película favorito es Gran Torino, es una película dirigida y protagonizada por Clint Eastwood, cuyo hilo conductor de la historia es precisamente un auto Ford Gran Torino, un auto clásico que el protagonista tiene como su mayor tesoro, luego de la muerte reciente de su esposa el veterano de la guerra de Corea conserva el auto como lo único de valor en su vida, disfruta reparándolo lo mejor posible, tanto así que su nieta mayor hasta tiene la osadía de preguntarle en pleno funeral lo que el hará con el auto después que el muera, es decir, la chica quiere el auto y de forma muy grosera lo insinúa, sin embargo, la relación que tiene Walt con su hijo y sus nietos no es buena, incluso entre dientes se queja de que su hijo no tenga un auto americano, porque entre otras cosas el malhumorado protagonista es patriota y racista con los asiáticos.
My favorite movie car is Gran Torino, it is a film directed and starring Clint Eastwood, whose main thread of the story is precisely a Ford Gran Torino car, a classic car that the protagonist has as his greatest treasure, after his recent death From his wife, the Korean War veteran keeps the car as the only thing of value in his life, he enjoys repairing it to the best of his ability, so much so that his eldest granddaughter even has the audacity to ask him at the funeral what he will do with the car after he dies, that is, the girl wants the car and very rudely insinuates it, however, the relationship that Walt has with his son and his grandchildren is not good, even between his teeth he complains that his son does not have an American car, because among other things the grumpy protagonist is patriotic and racist towards Asians.
Pero lo más irónico de todo es que este señor mayor y orgulloso, vive en un vecindario pobre donde sus vecinos son en su mayoría migrantes asiáticos, familias numerosas con dificultades económicas, costumbres diferentes y que tienen muchos jóvenes que están en pandillas, esto afianza aún más su odio por los asiáticos. Un día un joven asiático y vecino de la casa de al lado, intenta robar el Gran Torino, esto era su iniciación en la pandilla del primo del joven, pero Walt lo descubre y casi lo mata, luego la pandilla trata de castigar al joven Tao y en medio de la paliza entran al patio de Walt, este los aumenta con un arma y por consiguiente salva a Tao. En otro hecho aislado el mismo Walt ve como la pandilla intenta abusar de la hermana de Tao y también la defiende. Por consiguiente toda la familia de Tao comienza a tener agradecimiento por Walt, también hacen que Tao se disculpe con Walt, el joven comienza a hacer trabajos para ayudar a la gente del vecindario, en pocas palabras el protagonista comienza a tener una amistad con el chico Tao y con su familia.
But the most ironic of all is that this older and proud man lives in a poor neighborhood where his neighbors are mostly Asian immigrants, large families with economic difficulties, different customs and many young people who are in gangs, this further strengthens plus his hatred for Asians. One day a young Asian and a neighbor from the house next door, tries to steal the Gran Torino, this was his initiation into the gang of the young man's cousin, but Walt discovers it and almost kills him, then the gang tries to punish the young Tao and in the middle of the beating they enter Walt's yard, he increases them with a weapon and therefore saves Tao. In another isolated incident, Walt himself sees how the gang tries to abuse Tao's sister and also defends her. Consequently, Tao's entire family begins to be grateful for Walt, they also make Tao apologize to Walt, the young man begins to do jobs to help the people in the neighborhood, in a nutshell the protagonist begins to have a friendship with the boy Tao and with his family.
Las cosas no terminan bien, no es mi intención con hacer spoiler si no han visto la película, pero como se podrán imaginar la pandilla no estaba de acuerdo con que Tao tuviera amistad con el señor Walt y atacan a Tao y también a su hermana, el señor Walt toma acciones contra la pandilla. En todo el desarrollo de la película se ve la redención de Walt, como su racismo no lo vuelve a cegar, encuentra en Tao y su familia a verdaderos amigos , cuando Walt muere deja la herencia del auto Gran Torino a su mejor amigo el joven Tao.
Things do not end well, it is not my intention to make spoilers if you have not seen the movie, but as you can imagine the gang did not agree that Tao was friends with Mr. Walt and they attack Tao and also his sister, Mr. Walt takes action against the gang. Throughout the development of the film, Walt's redemption is seen, as his racism does not blind him again, he finds true friends in Tao and his family, when Walt dies he leaves the inheritance of the Gran Torino car to his best friend, the young Tao .
Esta película y este auto me gustan mucho, mi papá era un señor mayor y también tenía un auto clásico que adoraba, el lo cuidaba mucho y era su tesoro más preciado luego de nosotros su familia, el auto de mi padre no era un Ford, era un Chevrolet Malibu pero también como Walt siempre decía que los autos americanos eran los mejores, mi papá tenía un carácter muy fuerte y en ciertas cosas se parecía a Walt, pero cada vez que veo a un señor mayor cuidar un auto clásico siento una gran nostalgia, además que los modelos alargados de este tipo de autos de los 70 y 80 son hermosos, lamentablemente mi papá luego de enfermar y no poder seguir conduciendo tuvo que vender su auto y esto contribuyó en gran parte a la tristeza que vivió en su últimos años de vida.
I like this movie and this car a lot, my dad was an older man and he also had a classic car that he adored, he took great care of it and it was his most precious treasure after us his family, my father's car was not a Ford, It was a Chevrolet Malibu but also since Walt always said that American cars were the best, my dad had a very strong character and in certain ways he resembled Walt, but every time I see an older man take care of a classic car I feel a great nostalgia, in addition to the fact that the elongated models of this type of car from the 70s and 80s are beautiful, unfortunately my dad, after getting sick and not being able to continue driving, had to sell his car and this contributed to a large extent to the sadness he experienced in his last years of life.
A pesar de que los autos clásicos son una belleza, es difícil actualmente conseguir uno en buenas condiciones y repáralos con piezas originales es costoso, pues los autos americanos no son tan económicos como los asiáticos y en eso estamos de acuerdo, pero si algún día tengo la oportunidad de comprar y restaurar un auto clásico como el Gran Torino o como el Malibu que tenía mi papá lo haría con mucho gusto y estoy segura que me daría mucha felicidad.
