Good afternoon,

For my first post on Hive, I present you a British serie, available on Prime Video since 2019. This humoristic serie is adapted from the books with the same title, written by Terry Pratchett (RIP 12 March 2015) and Neil Gaiman.

Synopsis : The Antechrist, son of Satan, is delivered on Earth by Crowley, the fallen angel also known as the snake in the garden of Eden. This baby must be exchanged with the son of an american diplomat, just after the childbirth, organised in an old convent near a military base. But unexpectly, another baby decided to arrive a little bit earlier and his future mother is placed in the room next door. When Crowley came with the baby Antechrist, a nun guided him to the wrong room.

Who says Antechrist, says the end of the world is near. Crowley is in charge by Satan to spy the evolution of the little Warlock, the american diplomat's son. The child of the British couple was called Adam. For his 11th birthday, a demonic dog was sent to the child wich would start the "end of the world" process and the ride of the horsemen of the Apocalypse. Problem : The dog was nowhere to be seen near Warlock. On the other side, with God, the angel Aziraphale, bookseller to cover his divine mission, is in charge to spy the strange phenomena concerning the presence of the Antechrist. Since the beginning, in the garden of Eden, Aziraphale and Crowley cooperated and an unacknowledged friendship continues until today.

My review : British humor, that's something, you know ! Season 1 contains 6 episodes. I haven't really noticed any downtime. There are a lot of nods to major events, via prophecies written by a witch, burned at the stake in the time of the Inquisition. We may not have laughed out loud, but it was nice to watch and at times, we said to ourselves "Well done, guys!" A second season is planned and should land on Prime Video in late 2022 or early 2023.

For the casting, Michael Sheen plays the role of Aziraphale and David Tennant the role of Crowley. The voice of Satan is Benedict Cumberbatch's, but he won't renew his participation in the 2nd season. The voice of God is a female voice, of course ! New actors will join the serie in the 2nd season, we'll discover them at the end of the year !

What an interesting story line for this series! I saw the trailer but have not watch it yet. With the presence of Michael Sheen in it, I know the series will have a humourous side to it.

Morning, this was such an awesome novel. Do you think the series let it down? It certainly lost its rich language which is a quality of Gaimann, and the whimsy of Pratchett. I don't know, for me, it didn't work. But the book; ahhhh, now that was something!
