As Manila recovers from a zombie outbreak, Daphne (Toni Gonzaga) encounters the undead but retains cognition, becoming an internet sensation.

Lazo uses Daphne's plight as a satire on social media addiction and the objectification of women.

Although the premise is splashy fun, Lazo tackles deeper social issues, such as women's agency and consent.

Clever visual tricks transform gruesome zombie attacks into graphic comedy humour.

Gonzaga fully commits to her dual role, infusing scenes with charm and bringing empathy to Daphne's journey as she reclaims her identity over viral fame. The cast lives up to its comic timing and emotional range.

Director Isha Lazo created a riotous mash-up of genres that subverts expectations with unabashed gore and social commentary.

Lazo proves that genre cinema can be accessible entertainment while provoking debate.

Miss Zombie finds laughter in the darkness and suggests that transforming society begins with empowering marginalised groups to share their truths.

A cult hit, Lazo cemented its status as a vibrant Filipino cinematic voice and proved that genre templates can be reimagined to forge progressive change.

Lazo went on to win the coveted Best Director of the Year trophy at the ABS-CBN Film Festival, in recognition of his ability to tackle complex issues with an unbridled tone.

Gonzaga received well-deserved praise for bravely transforming his sympathetic on-screen persona into a nuanced social commentary, proving his versatility beyond the romantic comedy formula. The best performance of her career.

The $4 million gross in the Philippines proved that thrill-seeking audiences responded to Lazo's mix of biting satire and over-the-top carnage.
