Set in medieval France and based on true events, it tells the story of the last sanctioned judicial duel to settle disputes, but does so from a less explored female point of view that renews the genre.
Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Adam Driver lead a memorable cast, but it is Jodie Comer who really carries the film, with her heartbreaking performance as she denounces a rape.

The script, which alternates perspectives in three chapters, maintains the intrigue right to the end, and Scott brings together tension, action and intimate moments impeccably.
Visually superb, with its period-perfect photography, a story that is uncomfortably contemporary, albeit set centuries ago.
It proves that relevant stories can still be told in big budget commercial cinema.
