"The Continental" a spin-off from the John Wick universe

"The Continental" is the first spin-off from the John Wick universe. The miniseries consists of 3 chapters of about 80 minutes each.

In 1970s New York, Cormac O'Connor is in charge of the Continental Hotel.

Few people know that behind the façade of the hotel hides the world's deadliest assassin and Cormac, a violent and dangerous guy, controls everything.

One day the hotel is robbed and someone has taken something very important. This complicates Cormac's position in relation to his boss.

Worst of all, the thief is Cormac's henchman, someone he has known all his life. To find him, Cormac decides to bring his brother, young Winston Scott, from London and use him as bait. But something goes wrong and all hell breaks loose. Now it is Winston who is angry and wants to declare war on Cormac.

First of all, the best thing about the series by far is the wonderful period recreation. The guys got into a time machine and brought you the dirty, dangerous New York of the 1970s.

The performances are great across the board. Mel Gibson is a real tearjerker, the guy is very unbalanced. He's a villain who goes through all the stages, from elegance to exaggeration.

Winston has a tougher job, as he has to mirror the performance of the great Ian McShane and I think he does a phenomenal job. He brings his arrogance, his charm, and his ability to manipulate the people around him.

Everyone else is very good, especially young Charon, but the stars are these two.
