Hello friends from Hive to vary a little from the horror, suspense and comedy genres that are my favorites, this time I want to share with you a movie oriented more towards drama that tells a true story about a crime of identity theft.

This is Identity theft: The Michelle Brown Story, a 2004 TV drama-crime film directed by Robert Dornhelm and starring Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Annabella Sciorra. It tells the story of Connie Volkos, a real estate employee, who decides to steal the credit card data and identity of Michelle Brown, a client who has applied for a loan to get the house of her dreams.

Connie Volkos suffers a kind of obsession with Michelle, because seeing her so radiant, prosperous and successful, she feels that she is the person she would like to be, but to achieve this she undertakes criminal actions, taking advantage of the trust that Michelle has put in the real estate agency, to steal her credit card information, spending up to 50 thousand dollars, indebting Michelle with amounts that she will never be able to pay.

Subsequently Volkos decides to practically become Michelle, she buys her same clothes, buys her same car, obtains a false identity with the name Michelle Brawn, completely damaging the reputation of the real one, because when the credit cards are blocked, Volkos is forced to resort to her former drug dealer friends to get money, reason why she is arrested by the police and is identified as Michelle Brown, but she is released again when her bail is paid.

Michelle lives through a hell, but eventually Volkos is caught once again, when she has nowhere else to go and goes into crisis, even trying to commit suicide. Volkos is shown in the end, as a mentally unbalanced woman and confesses to Michelle the reasons why she committed the criminal acts.

Personally I liked this film, it is important to differentiate TV movies from cinema films, so evaluate them as such. This film keeps the viewer's attention, it takes place in urban environments, neighborhoods and offices, the photography is nothing special, but its strength is in the elaboration of the script, which shows us a well narrated story, it is also a fairly common event, something that happens to many citizens around the world every year, and I appreciate the fact that such a common event is shown cinematographically in a pleasant and enjoyable way.

I was particularly struck by a scene in which Connie quit from the real estate company and tells her boss that she is tired of seeing how so many people come in with money that they receive loans, but that she, not even if she works there for years, will be able to get anything similar to what these people have, and her boss tells her that he has given her a chance after being in the underworld of crime and delinquency. Which makes me think of several things.

First, it is true that there are many jobs in which we can be stuck for years, living with the minimum, without the possibility of improving our quality of life, and even being exploited, and it is necessary to be aware, to identify if we are in one of these jobs, where no matter how hard we try to highlight, to be the perfect employee, we will never see progress. However, I must also point out that in order to grow and progress we need dedication, we have to build bases, experience, and as the saying goes, what easy comes easy goes. We must recognize our place according to our capabilities, and work to evolve and aspire to a better life, a better job.

Considering Connie's circumstances, being able to work honestly after being a delinquent is something of great value, it is an opportunity to start over, have a decent life and build a reputation. But ambition and envy surpassed her, leading her to throw it all away.

On the other hand, aspects such as self-esteem and authenticity stand out, it is true that our personality, our way of dressing, is determined in part by the influence of others, fashions, artists, we all at some point want some feature or some garment that we saw in someone else. This is completely valid and healthy, we are a society and therefore everything is conditioned by our environment. But getting to the point of wanting to look or be exactly like someone else, shows immaturity and low self-esteem, because even if we are not happy with what we have or who we are, the solution is not to discard our being, but to improve and work to be as we would like to be, and to be unique.

Thank you for your attention, I hope you liked my post, let me know in the comments your opinion.

Saludos, @ismaelgranados.
