Hello dear moviegoing friends! I hope you are very well, today I would like to share with you my opinion about a Korean movie that I was very curious to see since it was among the trending on the netflix platform, it's # ALIVE, a South Korean movie released in 2020 about an apocalypse zombie in which a couple of guys try to survive each one locked in their apartment.

Espero estén muy bien, hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes mi opinión acerca de una pelicula coreana que sentí mucha curiosidad de verla ya que estaba entre los trending de la plataforma netflix, se trata de # VIVO, una pelicula surcoreana lanzada en 2020 sobre un apocalipsis zombie en el cual un par de chicos intentan sobrevivir cada uno encerrado en su apartamento.
# LIVE is a South Korean film released in 2020 through the Netflix platform, it is directed by Cho Il-hyung and stars Yoo Ah-in as Joon-woo and Park Shin-hye as Yoo-bin. It is based on the film ALONE by Matt Naylor who co-adapted the script with the director of this film.
# VIVO es una película surcoreana estrenada en en año 2020 a través de la plataforma Netflix, está dirigida por Cho Il-hyung y protagonizada por los actores Yoo Ah-in como Joon-woo y Park Shin-hye como Yoo-bin. Está basada en la pelicula ALONE de Matt Naylor el cual co-adaptó el guión con el director de esta película.
Plot / Argumento
A young man named Oh Joon-wo is alone in his apartment when suddenly they start announcing on the news about a "strange virus" that makes the infected brutally attack healthy people, so they recommend the healthy population to take shelter in their houses. He tries to communicate with his parents but he can't and suddenly a neighbor comes in out of nowhere and asks him to take shelter. Immediately he begins to break out in contagion and tries to attack him, so he does everything possible to kick him out of his apartment and lock the door. Upon receiving messages from his family telling him that they are fine and to stay safe at his house, Joon-woo locks the door of his house using the fridge and starts using social media to demand ransom.
Un joven llamado Oh Joon-wo se encuentra solo en su apartamento cuando de repente empiezan a anunciar en las noticias acerca de un "extraño virus" que hace que los infectados ataquen brutalmente a la gente sana por lo que recomiendan a la población sana resguardarse en sus casas. El intenta comunicarse con sus padres pero no lo consigue y de repente entra de la nada un vecino el cual le pide resguardarse. Enseguida empieza a brotarle en contagio e intenta atarcarlo por lo que hace todo lo posible por echarlo de su apartamento y trabar la puerta. Al recibir mensajes de su familia avisándole que están bien y que se resguarde bien en su casa, Joon-woo bloquea la puerta de su casa utilizando la nevera y empieza a utilizar las redes sociales para solicitar rescate.
The epidemic spreads rapidly and Joon-woo gradually loses access to the telephone signal, internet, running water service, and he also begins to run out of food, which is why he begins to have hallucinations of his family due to hunger and thirst. One day when the telephone signal manages to be restored momentarily, he receives a farewell message from his family, who ended up getting infected and his last moments were recorded in that audio message, so he goes into crisis and begins to cry and destroy things in his house.
La epidemia se expande rápidamente y Joon-woo gradualmente va perdiendo acceso a la señal de teléfono, internet, al servicio de agua corriente y también le empieza a escasear la comida por lo cual empieza a tener alucinaciones de su familia debido al hambre y sed. Un dia cuando la señal telefónica logra restablecerse momentáneamente recibe un mensaje de despedida de su familia, quienes terminaron contagiándose y sus últimos momentos quedaron registrados en ese mensaje de audio por lo que entra en crisis y empieza a llorar y a destruir cosas en su casa
One night Joon-woo decides to throw in the towel and tries to commit suicide in the middle of the room, but gives up when he realizes that a laser pointer is pointing at him, so he discovers that he is not the only survivor in the neighborhood, Kim Yoo-bin. a girl who lives in the apartment across the street beckoned him not to commit suicide so they later become friends, sharing food and water through a makeshift zip line and also 2 walkie-talkies which Joon-woo steals from the apartment next door
Una noche Joon-woo decide tirar la toalla e intenta suicidarse en el medio de la sala, pero desiste cuando se da cuenta que un puntero láser lo está apuntando, por lo que descubre que no es el único sobreviviente del vecindario, Kim Yoo-bin una chica que vive en el apartamento del frente le hizo señas para que no se suicidara por lo que luego se hacen amigos, compartiendo comida y agua a través de una tirolesa que improvisaron y también 2 walkie-talkies los cuales Joon-woo roba del apartamento de al lado.
One day Joon-woo and Yoo-bin decide to leave the apartments and go to the eighth floor which is apparently empty, so they rappel down to the street causing large hordes of zombies to chase them as they try to enter the building, they manage to escape when They manage to get into the elevator. Along the way, an infected sees them drawing the attention of other zombies, causing the boys to be cornered, but a man leaves his apartment and manages to rescue them in time.
Un dia Joon-woo y Yoo-bin deciden dejar los apartamentos y dirigirse al octavo piso el cual aparentemente está vacío, así que bajan en rapel hacía la calle haciendo que grandes hordas de zombies los persigan mientras tratan de entrar al edificio, logran escapar cuando alcanzan meterse en el ascensor. En el camino un infectado los ve llamando la atención de otros zombies haciendo que los chicos se vean acorralados, pero un hombre sale de su apartamento y logra rescatarlos a tiempo.
Once inside the apartment, the man offers them food and water, which at first they were wary of accepting, but when they see the man drink a glass of the same water, they gain confidence, and while they eat, the boys begin to feel dizzy because the man put drugs in the food and they both pass out. The stranger ties both their hands and locks Yoo-bin who was trying to fight off the effects of the drugs in a room where the stranger's zombified wife tries to eat her but when the stranger opens the door to the room to give a look Yoo-bin comes out and the wife falls on top of the stranger who ends up biting, at that same moment Joon-wo shoots both of them, killing them both, leaving him and Yoo-bin safe.
Una vez dentro del apartamento el hombre les ofrece comida y agua, los cuales al principo ellos estaban desconfiados de aceptar pero al ver que el hombre toma un vaso de la misma agua ellos agarran confianza, y mientras comen los chicos empiezan a sentirse mareados ya que el hombre puso drogas en la comida y ambos caen desmayados. El extraño les ata las manos a ambos y encierra a Yoo-bin que estaba intentando luchar en contra de los efectos de las drogas en una habitación dónde la esposa zombificada del extraño intenta comersela pero cuando el extraño abre la puerta de la habitación para dar un vistazo Yoo-bin sale y la esposa cae encima del extraño a quien termina mordiendo, en ese mismo instante Joon-wo les dispara a ambos matándolos a ambos quedando él y Yoo-bin a salvo.
The shots catch the attention of the zombies so a frightened Yoo-bin asks Joon-woo to shoot her and kill her, Joon-woo couldn't decide whether to shoot her or not but they hear helicopters flying near the buildings by what they decide to venture and go up to the roof with a large horde of zombies behind them, they manage to reach the roof but the zombies enter and the boys, seeing themselves cornered, start shooting at the zombies from the helicopters, managing to rescue Yoo-bin and Joon-woo. The movie ends with the helicopter where both boys are flying over the buildings when a voice announces that the wireless signals have been restored and all the people who asked for help through social networks will be rescued soon.
Los disparos captan la atención de los zombies por lo que una asustada Yoo-bin le pide a Joon-woo que le dispare y la mate, Joon-woo no podía decidirse si dispararle o no pero en eso oyen helicópteros volando cerca de los edificios por lo que deciden aventurarse y subir a la azotea con una gran horda de zombies tras ellos, ellos logran llegar a la azotea pero los zombies entran y los chicos al verse acorralados empiezan a dispararle a los zombies desde los helicópteros, logrando rescatar a Yoo-bin y Joon-woo. La pelicula termina con el helicóptero donde van ambos chicos sobrevolando los edificios cuando una voz anuncia que fueron restablecidos las señales inalámbricas y todas las personas que pidieron auxilio por redes sociales pronto serán rescatadas.
My Opinion / Mi Opinión
Well, I confess that initially I was not a fan of South Korean productions and had only seen 2 movies and a series, however lately some productions that Netflix recommends have caught my attention, and since I have always liked zombie apocalypse thrillers and I had just finished watching a South Korean zombie series, I was curious to see this movie and believe me I didn't regret it, since I thought it was a super entertaining movie which kept me on edge and the action scenes kept me jumping on my couch.
Bueno, confieso que inicialmente no era fan de las producciones surcoreanas y había visto solamente 2 películas y una serie, sin embargo últimamente me han llamado la atención algunas producciones que Netflix me recomienda, y como a mi siempre me han gustado los thrillers de apocalipsis zombie y había culminado de ver una serie surcoreana de zombies, sentí curiosidad de ver esta pelicula y creanme que no me arrepentí, ya que me pareció una pelicula super entretenida la cual me mantuvo en vilo y las escenas de acción me mentuvieron saltando en mi sofá.
The work of both protagonists seemed excellent to me, Yoo Ah-in the actor who plays Joon-woo seemed very funny to me since his facial expressions made me laugh and I also liked Park Shin-hye as Yoo-bin, his character seemed to me very mature and in my opinion she hit it off with Joon-woo who seemed a bit immature compared to her but they complemented each other perfectly. I was also struck by the appearance of Jeon Bae-soo as the stranger who helps them before being rescued, since I had previously seen him in "All of Us Are Dead" and I liked his work in that series, so his interpretation in this film although it was brief also seemed good to me.
El trabajo de ambos protagonistas me pareció excelente, Yoo Ah-in el actor que interpreta a Joon-woo me pareció muy gracioso ya que sus expresiones faciales me hacían reir y también Park Shin-hye me gustó como Yoo-bin, su personaje me pareció muy maduro y a mi parecer hizo buen ligue con Joon-woo el cual en comparación con ella me pareció un poco inmaduro pero se complementaron a la perfección. También me llamó la atención la aparición de Jeon Bae-soo como el extraño que los ayuda antes de ser rescatado, ya que previamente lo había visto en "All of Us Are Dead" y me gustó su trabajo en esa serie, por lo que su interpretación en esta pelicula aunque fué breve también me pareció buena.
The photography seemed excellent to me as well as the special effects, I feel that they managed to represent the zombies not as artificially as in other movies I've seen. I found the story very interesting and manages to engage from the beginning even though it can be considered more of the same, I liked that this time the spread of the virus happens quickly compared to other zombie movies that have slower plots.
La fotografía me pareció excelente así como los efectos especiales, siento que lograron representar a los zombies no de manera tan artificial como en otras peliculas que he visto. La historia me pareció muy interesante y logra enganchar desde el principio a pesar de que se pueda considerar más de lo mismo, me gustó que esta vez la expansión del virus sucede con rapidez en comparación con otras peliculas de zombies que tienen tramas más lentas.
Finally, since I liked this movie a lot and in my opinion it is worth seeing, I would like to recommend it to everyone, especially fans of the genre, I guarantee you will not regret it and that you will spend a pleasant time enjoying it, I will leave you the trailer next.
