(ESP-ENG) SP: Hasta los Huesos// To the Bones

Welcome Hivers to this new posts, in my previous video I announced that this week we would be talking about "Health Protectors", those people who take care of us when we are sick, inspire us to take care of ourselves and get better. Today I want to talk about: “To the Bones”, a movie starring Lilly Collins and Keanu Reeves.

Bienvenidos Hivers a este nuevo posts, en mi vídeo anterior anuncié que esta semana estaríamos hablando de “Protectores de la Salud”, de esas personas que nos cuidan cuando estamos enfermos, nos inspiran a cuidarnos y a mejorar. El día de hoy quiero hablar de: Hasta los huesos, una película de Lilly Collins y Keanu Reeves.

The movie follows Ellen, a 20 year old young woman, who suffers from anorexia. Her weight has always been a problem, and after being kicked out of her last treatment, her stepmother puts her to a choice, between living with her mother in Phoenix or going to a new doctor. Despite the young girl's resistance, she is convinced to go to the appointment and meets a doctor who is not looking to force her into a hospital, but rather motivates her to go in and be helped.

La película sigue a Ellen, una joven de 20 años, que sufre de anorexia. Su peso siempre ha sido un problema, y después de ser expulsada del último tratamiento, su madrastra la pone a escoger, entre vivir con su madre en Phoenix o ir con un nuevo médico. Pese a la resistencia de la joven, es convencida de ir a la cita y se encuentra con un médico que no busca obligarla a internarse en un hospital, más bien la motiva a entrar y ser ayudada.

However, accepting the doctor's recommendation, she does not live in the hospital as she had previously done, but arrives at a nursing home, where she lives with 6 other patients. As the film progresses, the young woman begins to relate to the rest of the patients, although her recovery process is very slow.

Sin embargo, al aceptar la recomendación del doctor, no vive en el hospital como anteriormente había hecho, sino que llega a una residencia, donde convive con otros 6 pacientes. A medida que transcurre la película, la joven empieza a relacionarse con el resto de los pacientes, aunque su proceso de recuperación es muy lento.

I was surprised to see that side of a doctor, where he is not forcing anyone to be hospitalized, and the decision of everything rests with the patients. Although he gives them a set of rules inside the house that they must follow, one of the first ones we see is that everyone must be at the table, even if they don't eat anything, and that there are no doors.

Me sorprendió ver ese lado de un médico, en el que no está obligando a ninguno a internarse, y la decisión de cada cosa recae en los pacientes. Aunque les da una serie de reglas dentro de la casa que deben cumplir, una de las primeras que vemos es que todos deben estar en la mesa, aunque no coman nada y que no existen puertas.

In addition, she not only involves the patient in the treatment, at one point she even seeks to see the reactions of the family, a therapy that allows her to learn more about the young woman's disorder. Something important is that he does not judge Ellen for her decision, and he does not force her to do something she does not want to do, but through his words he motivates her to do something better. In the end, I think that is what leads Ellen to change and accept treatment.

Además, no solo involucra al paciente en el tratamiento, en un momento busca ver incluso las reacciones de la familia, una terapia que le permite conocer más del trastorno de la joven. Algo importante es que no juzga a Ellen por su decisión, y no la obliga a hacer algo que no desee, pero a través de sus palabras la motiva a hacer algo mejor. Al final, creo que es lo que lleva a Ellen a cambiar y a aceptar el tratamiento.

I saw the movie a few days ago, I had been wanting to see it for a while, and it was really worth it. I think eating disorders is one of the topics that is almost not seen, because you don't know how to approach the subject, it is sometimes mentioned above, but you don't really see the process of healing from these disorders, and the importance of a support group.

Vi la película hace unos días, tenía ganas de verla desde hace tiempo, y realmente valió la pena. Creo que los trastornos alimenticios es uno de los temas que casi no se ven, porque no se sabe cómo abordar el tema, se menciona a veces por encima, pero realmente no se ve el proceso de curarse de estos trastornos, y la importancia que tiene un grupo de apoyo.

On the other hand, although I liked the ending, because it opens the assumption that now she will be cured because she will accept and do the treatment as it is, it does not give us the feeling that the problem is solved. Honestly, I like to see happy endings, however, in this opportunity, because it is a disorder, I liked that the situation will begin to be resolved, because it is a work of months and it was not going to be solved in 5 minutes of the film.

Por otro lado, aunque me gustó el final, porque nos abre la suposición de que ahora ella si se va a curar porque va a aceptar y hacer el tratamiento como es, no nos da la sensación de que el problema está resuelto. Sinceramente, me gusta ver finales felices, sin embargo, en esta oportunidad, por tratarse de un trastorno, me gustó que se empezará a resolver la situación, porque es un trabajo de meses y que no se iba a resolver en 5 minutos de la película.
