Welcome Hivers to this new post, this week in 7th Art & More we are going to celebrate Rock Day, and we are going to do it with movies allusive to this theme. This time I tell you my impressions of Rock Star, a 2001 film starring Mark Whalberg.
Bienvenidos Hivers a este nuevo post, esta semana en 7mo Arte & Más vamos a celebrar el Día del Rock, y lo vamos a hacer con películas alusivas a este tema. En esta oportunidad les cuento mis impresiones de Rock Star, una película de 2001 protagonizada por Mark Whalberg.
Chris Cole is a fan of Steel Dragon, so he formed a tribute band, looking to look like his idols, however, due to creative differences he is expelled from the band he created. His luck begins to change when the vocalist Steel Dragon is fired, so Chris is called for an audition after seeing a recording of a tribute concert.

In this film, we see how rock takes over the protagonist's life, imitating his singer without question, from his hair to his wardrobe. Likewise, we see how he looks for perfection in his companions when they try to imitate the style of the band they love, leaving aside even their own talents.

On the other hand, we see how that famous band does not seek to get new ideas, just keep repeating the same established pattern. What comes a moment in which frustrates the protagnist, as he considers himself only a singer by contract, because in reality, he has no voice or vote in the decisions of the band.
Por otro lado, vemos cómo esa banda famosa no busca obtener nuevas ideas, simplemente seguir repitiendo el mismo patrón establecido. Lo que llega un momento en el que frustra al protagnista, al considerarse solamente un cantante por contrato, porque en realidad, no tiene voz ni voto en las decisiones de la banda.
Particularly, I don't enjoy rock, but I did enjoy the movie, I loved how Chris becomes famous, because he does it through some acquaintances. Also, I enjoyed seeing how his girlfriend was there to support him and motivate him to follow his dreams. One moment that I loved, was the end, when he reunites with his friends and his passions to be better than he was.
Particularmente, no disfruto del rock, pero sí disfrute de la película, me encantó cómo Chris se vuelve famoso, porque lo hace a través de unas conocidas. Asimismo, disfruté de ver cómo su novia estuvo allí para apoyarlo y motivarlo a seguir sus sueños. Un momento que me encantó, fue el final, cuando se reencuentra con sus amigos y sus pasiones para ser mejor de lo que era.
I think the story was told very well, and what happens when fame goes to people's heads. It's a very good film to reflect on what we are capable of when given the opportunity. Rock is a rough style, but at its core it also has some incredible lyrics about being yourself.
Creo que se contó muy bien la historia, y lo que sucede cuando la fama se les sube a las personas a la cabeza. Es una película muy buena para reflexionar de lo que somos capaces de hacer cuando nos dan la oportunidad. El rock es un estilo brusco, pero en el fondo también tiene unas letras increíbles acerca de ser uno mismo.
