This is one of those misunderstood movies that are told they are bad, when in fact they are not, I thought I would start this review by saying that even though this movie is bad, I loved it, but no, that's why I say I love it, it's not bad, it's not for everyone, and that makes it be told it's bad when in reality it's a very good movie, it just needs a certain amount of attention, cynicism, and mental quirkiness when watching it so you don't feel like you're watching something meaningless and that it's just an excuse to tell a boring story that is trying to turn into an interesting story.
Braid tells the story of three women, three childhood friends, who after a long time without seeing each other end up meeting again to play one last game, The House, there are only three rules in the game: everyone must play, no outsiders are allowed, and no one leaves before the game is over. This time they will have to play for 48 hours, if they make it to the end they will win, if not, they will lose more than just the game. The three of them are going to be in the best game of their lives, if not their lives are the game itself.
Esta es una de esas películas incomprendidas a las que se les dice que son malas, cuando en realidad no lo son, pensé comenzar esta reseña diciendo que a pesar de que esta película es mala, me encantó, pero no, por eso digo que me encanta, no es mala, no es para todo el mundo, y eso hace que se le diga que es mala cuando en realidad es una muy buena película, solo que necesita su cierta cantidad de atención, cinismo, y peculiaridad mental al momento de verla para así no sentir que se está viendo algo sin sentido y que solo es un intento de excusa para contar una historia aburrida que se está intentando convertir en una historia interesante.
Braid nos cuenta la historia de tres mujeres, tres amigas de la infancia, quienes después de mucho tiempo sin verse terminan reencontrándose para jugar un último juego, La Casa, solo hay tres reglas en el juego: todas deben jugar, no se permiten a personas de afuera, y nadie se va antes de que termine el juego. En esta oportunidad tendrán que jugar durante 48 horas, si logran llegar al final ganarán, si no, perderán más que solo el juego. Ellas tres van a estar en el mejor juego de sus vidas, si no es que sus vidas son el juego en sí.

One of the three women is unhinged, don't you know which one it is, exactly, the richest of them all, and she is going to be The Mother in the game, so the other two will have to do everything she tells them, and only if they want to win the game, because by winning the game they will get all the money she has. That is the secret of the game, a secret that is revealed to us in the first few minutes, in the trailer, but they forget to mention that the movie is practically an LSD trip and the reasons for the game are the least important in themselves.
Leo las sinopsis que dan de la película y me caen mal, la convierten en algo simple y banal cuando la película es una preciosura psicodélica, lo único que necesita es que se la disfrute y ya, no nos pide nada más que la disfrutemos, y eso no es muy difícil de hacer, pero para las personas que les encanta pensar, que les encanta buscar las razones de todo, que necesitan saber dónde está la quinta pata del gato, bueno, a esa gente no les gusta esta película porque no pueden disfrutar un contenido tal cuál se los dan, si no que necesitan miles de cambios que intenten darle razón o sentido a algo que en un principio nunca lo tuvo.
Una de las tres mujeres está desquiciada, ¿a que no saben cuál es?, exacto, la más adinerada de todas, y ella va a ser La Madre en el juego, así que las otras dos tendrán que hacer todo lo que ella les diga, y solo si quieren ganar el juego, pues al ganar el juego lograrán obtener todo el dinero que ella tiene. Ese es el secreto del juego, secreto que nos revelan en los primeros minutos, en el trailer, pero se les olvida mencionar que la película prácticamente un viaje en LSD y las razones del juego son las menos importantes en sí.
I can't explain the movie to you, because as any evangelical would say after coming from a spiritual retreat, you have to experience it for yourself. There was a moment during the movie where my mind short-circuited, I wondered what I was watching, why I was watching it, and if it made any sense at all. There was no clear answer, but I continued to enjoy something illogical and full of suspense, terror, blood and a high level of psychosis, very high, that turned everything into an out-of-body experience impossible to put into words.
It is already implicit, but the story is one of my favorite things about the film, it makes no sense, although it does, it has no beginning or end, things will be twisted and will have a different meaning depending on who is our narrator at that moment, because the film will have different moments where things will have one of the three women as the protagonist, and we will see from her perspective what we already knew, only now things have changed and are not what they seem, or never were, or maybe it's that everything was the same and nothing at the same time...
No les puedo explicar la película, porque como diría cualquier evangélico después de llegar de un retiro espiritual, tienen que vivirlo ustedes mismos. Hubo un momento durante la película donde mi mente tuvo un cortocircuíto, me pregunté qué era lo que estaba viendo, por qué lo estaba viendo, y si eso tenía sentido alguno. No hubo ninguna respuesta clara, pero seguí disfrutando algo ilógico y lleno de suspenso, terror, sangre y un nivel alto de psicosis, muy alto, que convertía todo en una experiencia extracorporal imposible de poner en palabras.
Ya está implicito, pero la historia es de mis cosas favoritas de la película, no tiene sentido, aunque sí lo tiene, no tiene comienzo ni final, las cosas van a estar tergiversadas y tendrán un significado diferente dependiendo de quién sea nuestra narradora en ese momento, pues la película va a tener sus diferentes momentos donde las cosas van a tener de protagonista a una de las tres mujeres, y veremos desde su prespectiva lo que ya sabíamos, solo que ahora las cosas cambiaron y no son lo que parecen, o nunca lo fueron, o quizás es que todo era lo mismo y nada a la vez...
The ending is exquisite, it's one of my favorite things about the film, each reaching the climax in their own intimate version of their lives. The set design and cinematography of the film is beautiful, and that helped too much to make the madness of all the things we were seeing take hold more, the delicacy with which a life can be taken away, how simple, beautiful, and plain suffering can become, and how ridiculous the human view of all events on earth can become.
I loved the trailer, at first it tells you about the game and what brings them together, but then it gives us that little glimpse of the madness we will have to witness in that house, in that game, and it's just a marvel. Maybe you won't like it, maybe you will, but give it a chance, you don't have to finish watching it, just give it a chance.
El final es exquisito, es de mis cosas favoritas de la película, cada una llegando al climax en su propia versión íntima de sus vidas. La escenografía y la fotografía de la película es hermosa, y eso ayudó demasiado a que la locura de todas las cosas que veíamos se afianzara más, la delicadeza con la que una vida puede ser arrebatada, lo simple, hermoso, y sencillo que puede llegar a ser el sufrimiento, y lo ridícula que puede llegar a ser la visión humana sobre todos los hechos sobre la tierra.
El trailer me encantó, en un principio les cuenta sobre el juego y lo que las lleva a reunirse, pero después nos da ese pequeño trago de la locura que tendremos que presenciar en esa casa, en ese juego, y es simplemente una maravilla. Quizás no les guste, quizás sí, pero denle una oportunidad, no tienen que terminarla de ver, solo denle una oportunidad.
