This was the second series I watched last Friday along with Russian Doll, crying at the end of Russian Doll was just the beginning of my tears that day, because with Heartstopper I cried a thousand times more, I cried because of how beautiful this series is, how perfect it is, and without a doubt, I want and need to read the graphic novels, as perfect as this adaptation is, there are always things that are almost impossible to put on screen.
Heartstopper is about friendship, love, and how important they are in adolescence, it's about having meaningful relationships with adults, it highlights like never before how important it is to represent the LGBTQIA+ community in all its areas, where they do it perfectly and it's one of the many things that fill me with joy. Heartstopper is about Charlie and Nick, the beginning of their friendship, and how that friendship is the beginning of something beautiful.
Not since Young Royals have I been so in love with a BL, after watching Heartstopper I don't know which of the two series I love more, but that's okay because there's too much love to give them, and I can't wait for the trailer for Young Royals season 2, hopefully, it will be soon. Netflix can do horrible things like Elite season 5, and they can do beautiful things like Heartstopper.

Representation is one of the most important things there is, that's why this kind of series has such an impact on the people who watch them. There is a general feeling that this series provokes and that is that all LGBTQIA+ people always wished to have a teenage love like any other, to go through all the stages of falling in love and get out of it alive, but not all of us could, it was always a distant wish, something that no matter how much we visualized it was not going to come true, and one of the things why that was so is because we did not have representations like this, it was always demonized, seen with bad eyes, it was something we had to repress, hide, never tell anyone, because if anyone found out the least of the problems was bullying, a bigger problem was that your own family would reject you and throw you out of the house, and the biggest of all is death, which is the result of all the little problems that accumulate over all of us.
The series is perfect, it's about teenagers being teenagers, living all those processes of self-discovery, the fear of being different but still understanding and accepting it, having someone you can turn to for advice, seeking acceptance, understanding, validation, and affection. It is what adolescence should be and not the hell that it can be for many people; it is to have a family to turn to when you are in trouble, to listen to you, and to give you that strong hug that we always need.

You don't know how many times I cried when Charlie's dad told him to call him if anything happened, if he needed him, that he was always there for him, and the best thing is that he delivered, he helped him; I loved Tori completely, Charlie's sister, she always appeared out of nowhere and scared him, she was there for him always and held Charlie when he needed it the most, I have my version of Tori, so I completely understand that feeling.
One of my favorite things and what I loved from the first chapter is that Charlie had a safe place at school where he was listened to and understood, Mr. Ajayi, the gay art teacher at school, and who not only had a teacher-student relationship with Charlie, they were friends, Mr. Ajayi told Charlie the truth, not just what he wanted to hear, because reality is very different from our thoughts and you always need someone who in the best way will bring us back to our feet on the ground.
The friendship between Charlie, Tao, Issac, and Elle is the most real thing ever, although I disliked Tao a little bit, that's because I a little bit like him, otherwise, I loved it. I love Elle, a trans teenager who changed schools as the bullying she was getting was too much, I love that her friends still loved her anyway and that even though everything has changed, things stayed the same; I loved Tara and Darcy, the friends Elle makes at her new school. They all make a perfect set of imperfect people who just want to live to be themselves no matter what the world says.

One lives through this kind of series everything that we could not live before, that is why many people in the LGBTQIA+ community reach their 20s, 30s, 40s and that is when we start to live when we want to experience as we never could in adolescence or early adulthood, and we feel that we can no longer, that our time has passed and that we have no right to do so; and although this series along with many others comes late for us, there is a generation that is growing up watching it, that is growing up knowing that there are more of the same people all over the world, and that just as others live it, they also have the right to do it.
Watch the trailer, get excited, and watch the series, you will fall in love with its simplicity and how it addresses issues such as bullying, being gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, and a thousand other things. I will end this review by saying something that I read and that still makes me laugh a lot. Obviously, the target of this series is the LGBTQIA+ community, and like the rest of productions of this type, always thousands of people come out to say that they are series that comply with the forced inclusion to make a minority happy, thing is that completely a shitty comment from people whose brains do not work; one of the many responses to one of those comments was that if you don't like that kind of content, don't watch it, avoid making a fool of yourself by saying that, because in this series the forced inclusion were straight people, and fuck, I laughed too much and yes, straight people are the forced inclusion here.
