I have a lot of problems with this series, almost all of them would disappear if it already had many more seasons done instead of just one, but it has manga, so that means that my problems remain the same because I'm not going to read it in any way, I stopped fooling myself a long time ago when I said I was going to read it, when I don't, I don't have enough mental energy to do many things, so I just focus on surviving, otherwise, I do things little by little, I do what I can, otherwise, I don't do anything, and I'm fine like this, I can do more and more things without feeling like I'm forcing myself.
But this is a review, not a catharsis, so I'll talk about Vinland Saga. The official review of the series says so, so I feel compelled to say it too, because even though I feel like I shouldn't say it, there's no major problem with that. Thorfinn, Thor's son, always wanted to be a great Viking as he believes his father was, that moment will come sooner than he thinks and it will be the beginning of the most difficult stage of his life, not only he will be away from home, sailing with strangers, fighting in battles that do not belong to him, getting stronger and stronger, but all that journey will be with the murderer of his father, murderer who he wants to kill in a duel, in the right way, in order to pay honor to his father. That is the story of Thorfinn, a story that Vinland Saga shows us, a story worth watching.
Tengo muchos problemas con esta serie, casi todos desaparecerían si ya tuviera muchas más temporadas hechas en vez de una sola, pero tiene manga, así que eso significa que mis problemas siguen igual pues no lo voy a ir a leer de ninguna forma, ya hace mucho tiempo dejé de engañarme al decir que iba a leerlos, cuando no es así, no tengo la energía mental suficiente como para hacer muchas cosas, así que solo me enfoco en sobrevivir, de resto, hago las cosas poco a poco, hago lo que puedo, de resto, no hago nada, y estoy bien así, cada vez puedo hacer más cosas sin sentir que me obligo.
Pero esta es una reseña, no una catarsis, así que hablaré de Vinland Saga. La reseña oficial de la serie lo dice, así que me veo en la obligación de decirlo también, pues aunque siento que no debería decirlo, no hay mayor problema con eso. Thorfinn, hijo de Thor, siempre quiso ser un gran Vikingo como cree que su padre fue, ese momento llegará más pronto de lo que cree y será el comienzo de la etapa más difícil de su vida, no solo se alejará de su casa, navegando con extraños, peleando en batallas que no le pertenecen, haciéndose cada vez más fuerte, si no que toda esa travesía la hará con el asesino de su padre, asesino a quién quiere matar en un duelo, de la forma correcta, para así rendirle honor a su padre. Esa es la historia de Thorfinn, historia que nos muestra Vinland Saga, una historia que vale la pena ver.
My first problem with the series was when they kill Thor, Thorfinn's father, and I had already made up my mind that I would see him during the whole series fighting in battles trying to win many wars that don't belong to him, but no, all my illusions disappear from one moment to another and there is nothing I can do, so I tell you, not to ruin the series for you, because it is something that happens in the first chapters, but to make you understand that the series starts killing the expectations you have from the beginning, a very difficult beginning to see, I have to tell you.
My second problem started right after Thor's death, as the series becomes the thing that causes me the most disinterest: senseless violence that has no reason to be. For the first 13 or 14 chapters it will be the same, battles, blood, dead, thirst for revenge, loot, gold, beer and food. For the rest of the chapters it will be almost the same, but it will have a story, there will be character development, very good dialogues, plans, existential and philosophical crises; that's why I say that the series gets really good in the second half, almost at the end, and that's just when it ends.
Mi primer problema con la serie fue cuando matan a Thor, padre de Thorfinn, y yo ya me había hecho a la idea de que lo vería durante toda la serie peleando en batallas intentando ganar muchas guerras que no le pertenecen, pero no, todas mis ilusiones desaparecen de un momento a otro y no hay nada que pueda hacer, así que se los digo a ustedes, no por arruinarles la serie, pues es algo que sucede en los primeros capítulos, si no para que entiendan que la serie comienza asesinando las expectativas que se tengan desde el principio, un principio muy difícil de ver, tengo que decírselos.
Mi segundo problema comenzó justo después de la muerte de Thor, pues la serie se convierte en la cosa que más desinterés me provoca: violencia sin sentido que no tiene razón de ser. Durante los primeros 13 o 14 capítulos será lo mismo, batallas, sangre, muertos, sed de venganza, botines, oro, cerveza y comida. Durante el resto de los capítulos será casi lo mismo, pero va a tener una historia, va a haber desarrollos de personajes, tendrán diálogos muy buenos, planes, crisis existenciales, filosóficas; por eso les digo que la serie se pone realmente buena es en la segunda mitad, casi al final, y es justo cuando mejor está que termina.
The beginning of the series reminded me too much of The Northman, a son seeking revenge for his father's death, with no indication that that was going to change at some point, that's why it bored me too much, at least during the first 13 or 14 chapters, I don't know how I survived those chapters, but I did, I had the hope that it would change, that it would get better, and it did, all just because I was curious to see the new characters that were going to be added when I saw them in the opening, yes, just for the opening I kept watching the series, and it was worth it. The opening of the second part is far superior to the first part, and it deserves it, I just want the second season to come out urgently.
One of my favorite things, and I hope it comes true, is that they don't show Vinland, that promised land where war doesn't exist, where there are no slaves or slavers, where the land is green and it never snows, where you can live in peace, finally in peace; I need them to show me Vinland, and if they don't do it in the second season, I will keep waiting for them to do it, because the series is called like that, and I don't think they are going to forget about it.
El inicio de la serie me recordó demasiado a The Northman, un hijo buscando venganza por la muerte de su padre, sin indicios de que eso fuera a cambiar en algún momento, por eso fue que me aburrió demasiado, al menos durante las primeros 13 o 14 capítulos, no sé cómo sobreviví a esos capítulos, pero lo hice, tenía la esperanza de que cambiara, de que se pusiera mejor, y así fue, todo solo porque tenía la curiosidad de ver a los nuevos personajes que iban a agregar al verlos en el opening, sí, solo por el opening seguí viendo la serie, y valió la pena. El opening de la segunda parte es muy superior al de la primera parte, y lo merece, solo quiero que salga la segunda temporada con urgencia.
Una de mis cosas favoritas, y espero que se llegue a hacer realidad, es que no muestren a Vinland, esa tierra prometida donde la guerra no existe, donde no hay esclavos ni esclavistas, donde la tierra es verde y nunca nieva, donde se puede vivir en opaz, finalmente en paz; necesito que me muestren a Vinland, y si no lo hacen en la segunda temporada, pues seguiré esperando que lo hagan, pues la serie se llama así, y no creo que se vayan a olvidar de eso.
Another one of my favorite things about the series is the philosophy that made Thor stop fighting other people's wars. a philosophy that many people look for and don't manage to get, because even though everyone goes through the same kind of situations that made Thor think and feel that way, they don't have the same mentality or the same thought pattern that leads them to the same conclusions, and when someone succeeds, it will be who they least expect, and they will be happy and angry that it is so. I know.
There I leave you with the trailer, a very well done trailer, which shows almost nothing, but serves as an appetizer for you to watch the series, it's on Prime Video and Netflix, by the way, so you can watch it wherever you want. It's good to pass the time, but it's possible that you won't like it, although it's more likely that you will like it more than me.
Otra de mis cosas favoritas de la serie es la filosofía que hizo que Thor dejara de pelear en las guerras de los demás. una filosofía que buscan muchas personas y que no logran conseguir, pues aunque todos pasan por el mismo tipo de situaciones que hicieron que Thor pensara y sintiera de esa forma, no tienen la misma mentalidad o el mismo patrón de pensamientos que los lleve a las mismas conclusiones, y cuando alguien lo logra, será quien menos esperan, y estarán felices y enojados de que sea así. Lo sé.
Ahí les dejo el trailer, un trailer muy bien hecho, que no muestra casi nada, pero que sirve de aperitivo para que vean la serie, está en Prime Video y en Netflix, por cierto, así que la pueden ver donde quieran. Es buena para pasar el tiempo, pero es posible que no les llegue a gustar, aunque es más probable que sí les guste más que a mí.
