Muchas veces cuando decido ver una película lo hago sin tener absolutamente nada de idea de lo que voy a ver. Algunas veces me decepciono por no haber visto algo, el trailer o alguna opinión, y así evitarme el mal rato pero otras veces me sorprendo de sobremanera porque resulta que estaba buscando cobre y termino encontrando oro. Boy Kills World, un film del que parece nadie está hablando y que llegó para seguir reivindicando el género de acción vengativo?!, algo así como Monkey Man, de la que les hablé hace unos días. La cosa es que estamos ante una película que de buenas a primera se me pareció mucho, pero mucho a Kill Bill, tanto en su accionar, trama y esa comedia particular que había en sus líneas de diálogo y en una que otras escenas.

Many times when I decide to see a movie I do it without having absolutely no idea of what I'm going to see. Sometimes I'm disappointed because I haven't seen something, the trailer or an opinion, and so I avoid a bad time, but other times I'm really surprised because it turns out that I was looking for copper and I end up finding gold. Boy Kills World, a film that nobody seems to be talking about and that came to continue vindicating the revenge action genre, something like Monkey Man, which I told you about a few days ago. The thing is that we are in front of a movie that from one moment to the next was very, very similar to Kill Bill, both in its action, plot and that particular comedy that was in its lines of dialogue and in some other scenes.

Boy (Bill Skarsgård) es un joven sordomudo el cual ha pasado por mucho. Su infancia no fue la mejor ni la más bonita ya que en esos años vivió cosas que ningún niño debería de vivir. Esto está ambientado en un futuro distópico en donde una familia, los Van Der Koy, tienen sometidos a toda una sociedad bajo un yugo inclemente, familia liderada por Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Jannsen), si, la misma de Taken. Esta mujer es de lo más desquiciado que puede haber por lo que representa un serio peligro para todos. ¿Qué sucede entonces? - pues que después de uno de los sucesos que marcaron a Boy este termina en una selva perdido cayendo finalmente en manos de un misterioso chamán.

Boy (Bill Skarsgård) is a young deaf-mute who has been through a lot. His childhood was not the best or the most beautiful because in those years he lived things that no child should live. This is set in a dystopian future where a family, the Van Der Koy, have subdued an entire society under an inclement yoke, family led by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Jannsen), yes, the same of Taken. This woman is the most unhinged there can be, so she represents a serious danger to everyone. What happens then? - Well, after one of the events that marked Boy, he ends up in a lost jungle, finally falling into the hands of a mysterious shaman.

Resulta que este chamán en cuestión comienza a entrenar a Boy por un largo periodo de tiempo para convertirlo en una verdadera máquina de matar y de venganza, este entrenamiento va más allá de lo físico porque también busca dominar su mente e imaginación al punto de que suprima parte de ese pasado. Una vez listo decide poner en marcha un "plan" y junto a par de personajes que conoce por casualidad, entre ellos Basho (Andrew Koji) comienza a rodar este carro de venganza pura. Lo que viene se lo pueden imaginar. Como ya les dije esta es una película muy similar a Kill Bill, por lo menos bajo mi opinión, lo que hizo que la disfrutara plenamente, imposible de aburrirse.

Once ready, he decides to set a “plan” in motion and together with a couple of characters he meets by chance, among them Basho (Andrew Koji), he begins to roll this chariot of pure revenge. What's to come you can imagine. As I already told you this is a movie very similar to Kill Bill, at least in my opinion, which made me enjoy it fully, impossible to get bored.

Estas películas en donde la venganza es el motor principal de casi todos los personajes por lo general son entretenidas porque nos brindan unas raciones de acción y odio que terminan en una trama un tanto plana pero con unas escenas y secuencias de acción excepcionales. Casi todas las escenas combinaban las típicas peleas llenas de artes marciales en todos sus estilos con armas de fuego, cuchillos, hachas y pare de contar. Esto hace que la vistosidad sea importante y uno termine embelesado con todo lo que pasa en la pantalla. El juego de cámaras, la cantidad sangre que hay, mucho gore, decapitaciones, desmembramientos; en general es muy explícita cosa que me parece genial.

These movies where revenge is the main engine of almost all the characters are usually entertaining because they give us some rations of action and hatred that end in a somewhat flat plot but with some exceptional action scenes and sequences. Almost all the scenes combined the typical fights full of martial arts in all their styles with firearms, knives, axes and stop counting. This makes the showiness is important and one ends up enraptured with everything that happens on the screen. The game of cameras, the amount of blood, a lot of gore, decapitations, dismemberments; in general it is very explicit, which I think is great.

La trama es conocida, seguramente muchos se imaginarán más o menos como va pero esta película tiene algo que creo fue lo que me terminó de enganchar y es un plot twist masivo que me descolocó completamente ya que honestamente no me lo esperaba. El buen uso de este recurso puede hacer que un film pase de ser bueno a uno muy bueno, afortunadamente acá sucede exactamente esto. La comedia es otro factor importante, está para alivianar un poco las cosas, a veces nos saca del mood en el que estamos pero rápidamente retoma la seriedad del asunto. Actuaciones hilarantes, líneas y frases en los diálogos bastante particulares, las mismas personalidades de los personajes son algo extravagantes cosa que ayuda a que las risas no falten.

The plot is well known, surely many will imagine more or less how it goes but this film has something that I think was what got me hooked and it is a massive plot twist that completely threw me off since I honestly did not expect it. The good use of this resource can make a film go from being good to very good, fortunately this is exactly what happens here. The comedy is another important factor, it's there to lighten things up a bit, sometimes it takes us out of the mood we're in but quickly picks up the seriousness of the matter. Hilarious performances, lines and phrases in the dialogues are quite particular, the characters' personalities themselves are a bit extravagant, which helps to keep the laughs coming.

Me sorprendió mucho lo de Bill Skarsgård, no tenía a este actor dentro de este rango de interpretación en donde se le viera mostrar habilidades en artes marciales y escenas de acción, creo que lo hizo a la altura. Al no poder hablar todo lo tenía que expresar con la cara, esto es cool porque siempre tenemos una voz en off que nos cuenta lo que está pensando cosa que lo hace más complicado. Todos los personajes secundarios son buenísimos porque todos son únicos. Dementes, excéntricos, egolatras, un sin fin de características que van muy acorde al ambiente de la película.

I was very surprised with Bill Skarsgård, I didn't have this actor within this range of interpretation where he was seen showing skills in martial arts and action scenes, I think he did it at the height. Not being able to speak, he had to express everything with his face, this is cool because we always have a voice-over that tells us what he is thinking which makes it more complicated. All the supporting characters are great because they are all unique. Insane, eccentric, egomaniacs, an endless number of characteristics that go very well with the atmosphere of the film.

Al final le doy un 8/10, el film es realmente top, me gustó mucho. No lo tenía en el radar y me alegra mucho habérmelo encontrado. Muchas acción, comedia, buenas secuencias en sus escenas y una trama que te invita a pensar una cosa para cambiarte de camino en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. Ya te digo que no te vas a aburrir. Dura menos de dos horas. Muy recomendada a todos, sobretodo a los que les gusta el género. Les dejo el tráiler para que vean más o menos de que va.

In the end I give it an 8/10, the film is really top, I liked it a lot. I didn't have it on my radar and I'm really glad I found it. Lots of action, comedy, good sequences in their scenes and a plot that invites you to think one thing to change your way in the blink of an eye. I'm telling you, you won't get bored. It lasts less than two hours. Highly recommended to everyone, especially to those who like the genre. I leave you the trailer so you can see more or less what it's about.
