Aquí estamos para hablar un poco de lo que fue la última producción a nivel de series o en este caso de mini series de Marvel y Disney. Moon Knight recién la terminé de ver la noche de ayer, el tiempo se me ha ido muy rápido y la verdad es que tengo varias opiniones encontradas porque habían capítulos en donde decía que me gustaba mucho pero habían otros en los que no tanto y así iba cambiando de opiniones tan a la ligera hasta que llegó el episodio numero cinco, creo que ahí fue cuando terminé de abrir los ojos.

He tenido la oportunidad de ver todas las series de Marvel de esta "nueva" era menos la de The Falcon and the Winter Soldier porque automáticamente muchas personas me dijeron que no lo hiciera, quizás deba verla igual pero será cuando realmente no tenga nada que ver, y puedo decir que Moon Knight no me gustó tanto como otras, WandaVision por ejemplo. Ojo, no quiero decir que la historia de Steven Grant haya sido mala, al contrario, me pareció increíble y comparar una con otra es algo tonto pero si pienso que hay que hacer la salvedad. Pero bueno, hablemos un poco de esta trama llena misterios y problemas mentales...

Arrancamos con la historia de Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac), un simple trabajador de un museo relacionado con el mundo y la historia egipcia que aparentemente tiene ciertos problemas mentales relacionados a un trastorno de la personalidad. Esto es por varias cosas que le pasaron en su pasado pero que en la serie se darán cuenta de eso. Al tiempo se da cuenta que hay una voz en su cabeza que busca controlarlo y que por momentos toma el completo control de su cuerpo, lógicamente todo esto en contra de su voluntad.

We start with the story of Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac), a simple museum worker related to the world and Egyptian history who apparently has certain mental problems related to a personality disorder. This is because of several things that happened to him in his past but in the series will realize that. At the time he realizes that there is a voice in his head that seeks to control him and that at times takes complete control of his body, logically all this against his will.

Con el pasar del tiempo se da cuenta que esta voz en sus pensamientos es Khonshu, un antiguo dios de la Luna, al quien una de sus personalidades le dio el permiso para manejara su cuerpo cuando fuese necesario, es decir, es una especie de alter ego pero con grandes poderes y habilidades. Su misión será la de detener a un villano que busca tener el control de la humanidad usando los poderes de otra deidad egipcia por lo que toda la serie se reduce a eso, un poco de historia universal acompañada de grandes combates y viajes místicos; además del factor más importante de todos: la fragilidad de la salud mental.

His mission will be to stop a villain who seeks to take control of humanity using the powers of another Egyptian deity so the whole series is reduced to that, a bit of universal history accompanied by great battles and mystical journeys; plus the most important factor of all: the fragility of mental health.

Esta serie tiene un punto altísimo que ninguna otra ha tenido y ese es la actuación magistral de Oscar Isaac. El nivel de interpretación que vemos acá para poder mostrarnos dos personalidades totalmente distintas en cosa de segundos es algo de locos y de lo que siempre me sorprendía cada vez que lo veía. La actuación de Isaac es el punto clave de esta historia, es el gancho y el pegamento que hace que Moon Knight sea lo que es a pesar de contar con una producción bastante buena si me lo preguntan y muy digna para ser tan solo una mini serie.

This series has a high point that no other has had and that is the masterful performance of Oscar Isaac. The level of interpretation that we see here to be able to show us two totally different personalities in a matter of seconds is something crazy and something that always surprised me every time I saw him. Isaac's performance is the key point of this story, it's the hook and the glue that makes Moon Knight what it is despite having a pretty good production if you ask me and very worthy for a mini-series.

Es que Steven Grant y Marc Spector son dos personas distintas, con voces distintas y con muecas y facciones diferentes pero dentro de un mismo cuerpo y que siga alabando a Isaac por haber hecho esos papeles tan bien no es poca cosa y estoy seguro que después de que la vean me darán un poco la razón. Pero volviendo un poco a la historia tengo que decir que por el hecho de que se haya tocado temas como todo lo relacionado con el antiguo Egipto a mi en lo personal me llama mucho la atención, entendiendo también que esto viene producto de un personaje sacado de los comics.

Steven Grant and Marc Spector are two different people, with different voices and with different faces and features but within the same body and I keep praising Isaac for having done those roles so well is no small thing and I'm sure that after they see it they will give me a little reason. But going back to the story I have to say that the fact that it has touched on topics such as everything related to ancient Egypt to me personally calls my attention, also understanding that this is a product of a character taken from the comics.

Es una mini serie que tiene sus toques de violencia y combates llevados muy bien por Oscar Isaac, todas esas escenas en donde vemos enfrentamientos cuerpo a cuerpo en lo personal me gustaron, estuvieron en el promedio. De igual forma sus escenas de acción y grandes efectos visuales también son de los platos fuertes acá, en un momento podemos estar en el medio de la ciudad pero en un abrir y cerrar de ojos estamos en un barco navegando entre arenas en medio de una tormenta con una diosa del antiguo Egipto. Son esos saltos lo que para mi hicieron demás atractiva esta historia, pequeñas dosis de aventura como si estuviéramos viendo una película de Indiana Jones.

It is a mini series that has its touches of violence and combats carried very well by Oscar Isaac, all those scenes where we see body to body confrontations I personally liked them, they were in the average. Similarly, its action scenes and great visual effects are also the highlights here, at one moment we can be in the middle of the city but in the blink of an eye we are on a ship sailing between sands in the middle of a storm with a goddess of ancient Egypt. It is those jumps that for me made this story even more attractive, small doses of adventure as if we were watching an Indiana Jones movie.

Pero como no todo es esa fantasía también hay elementos que la hacen muy humana y real y es el tema de la salud mental. Tocar estos tópicos siempre será complejo pero que lo hayan hecho de la forma en la que lo hicieron siendo motivado todo por una situación traumática del pasado es algo que valoro mucho porque da visibilidad a problemas que incluso hoy en día continúan siendo tabúes en la sociedad. Y dan a entender que cualquier persona es propensa a sufrir de estos trastornos. Así que por ese lado, nada negativo que decir.

But as not everything is that fantasy there are also elements that make it very human and real and that is the issue of mental health. Touching on these topics will always be complex, but the fact that they have done it in the way they did it, being motivated by a traumatic situation of the past, is something I value very much because it gives visibility to problems that even today continue to be taboo in society. And they give to understand that anyone is prone to suffer from these disorders. So on that side, nothing negative to say.

Ya hablamos de los personajes que interpreta Oscar, que serían dos: Steven y Marc. Uno es temeroso y amable mientras que el otro es aguerrido y sin ninguna pizca de miedo, dos caras de la moneda que en momentos de la serie es difícil saber cual es el verdadero y cual es la creación de la mente. Dos personajes tan diferentes pero que se complementan al 100%. Repito, lo de Isaac fue brillante, de las mejores actuaciones que he visto en este contexto de superhéroes. No se que tan presente estará este personaje en esta nueva fase del universo Marvel, entiendo que no mucho, pero sería increíble volverlo a ver.

We already talked about the characters played by Oscar, which would be two: Steven and Marc. One is fearful and kind while the other is feisty and without any hint of fear, two sides of the coin that at times in the series is difficult to know which one is the real one and which one is the creation of the mind. Two characters that are so different but complement each other 100%. I repeat, Isaac's was brilliant, one of the best performances I've seen in this superhero context. I don't know how present this character will be in this new phase of the Marvel universe, I understand that not much, but it would be amazing to see him again.

En cuanto al villano es llevado por Ethan Hawke quien da vida a Arthur Harrow. El hecho de que Hawke esté en este elenco ya dice mucho porque estamos hablando de uno de los mejores actores que hay en Hollywood. Como villano en esta serie fue uno, a mi parecer, bastante normal y básico, no lo vi como ese enemigo feroz que odias al instante. Y esta bien, no todos los personajes tienen porque tener esa fuerza arrolladora que se lleva a todo por el medio pero si quizás esperé un poco, tan solo un poco más de intensidad en él. Aún así, muy complacido con su personaje, uno oscuro y siniestro.

As for the villain, he is played by Ethan Hawke who gives life to Arthur Harrow. The fact that Hawke is in this cast already says a lot because we are talking about one of the best actors out there in Hollywood. As a villain in this series he was one, in my opinion, quite normal and basic, I didn't see him as that fierce enemy that you instantly hate. And that's fine, not all characters have to have that overwhelming force that takes everything by the middle but if perhaps I expected a little, just a little more intensity in him. Still, very pleased with his character, a dark and sinister one.

En fin, una muy buena serie que en lo personal siempre me entretuvo porque lo tiene todo: misterio, drama, aventura, sus toques de comedia como ya viene siendo costumbre en las producciones de Marvel de la mano con Disney y la infaltable ciencia ficción que hace que todo lo que nos imaginamos cobre vida. No es la mejor serie que visto, por lo menos no es la que más me ha gustado pero esto no quiere decir que tenga quejas de ella.

In short, a very good series that personally always entertained me because it has it all: mystery, drama, adventure, touches of comedy as has become customary in Marvel productions hand in hand with Disney and the inevitable science fiction that makes everything we imagine come to life. It's not the best series I've seen, at least not the one I've liked the most, but that doesn't mean I have any complaints about it.

8/10 porque siempre es agradable ver nuevos personajes en el universo de Marvel y este en particular cuyos poderes están ligados a dioses y mitologías pasadas creo que sin dudas lo hace mucho más interesante que muchos ya conocidos. Son 6 episodios de una duración de no más de 45 minutos y obviamente la pueden encontrar en Disney Plus. Les dejo el tráiler para aquellos que no hayan tenido la oportunidad de echarle un ojo.
