Las historias que han sido contadas mil veces, sí, me refiero a la vida de los narcos que tanto gustan y llaman la atención de las personas por alguna extraña razón. Innumerables películas y series han salido referente a esto y a pesar del personaje en cuestión decido, en mi caso, si le doy un vistazo o no. Creo que para que estas historias tengan éxito el actor o en este caso la actriz tiene que logra captar la esencia del capo en cuestión, es decir: su mirada, su forma de hablar, expresarse, como camina, gestos, comportamiento, personalidad, tiene que ser realmente el paquete entero para que uno el espectador pueda comprar la historia y la interpretación.

Countless movies and series have come out referring to this and despite the character in question I decide, in my case, if I give it a look or not. I believe that for these stories to be successful the actor or in this case the actress has to capture the essence of the kingpin in question, that is: his look, his way of speaking, expressing himself, how he walks, gestures, behavior, personality, it really has to be the whole package so that one the viewer can buy the story and the interpretation.

Por ejemplo, Narcos de Netflix me parece lo peor que se ha hecho nunca porque no puedes poner a un brasileño a hablar paisa, acento típico de Medellín, es un sin sentido y pierde totalmente la "magia" de lo que fue dicho personaje. ¿Quieren ver una buena serie de Pablo Escobar? - busquen El Patrón del Mal de Caracol TV. Pero volviendo acá, Griselda Blanco fue una mujer nacida en Medellín por lo que el hecho de que Sofía Vergara haya decidido dar voz y cuerpo a esta criminal tiene un poco más de sensatez. Estamos ante un buen trabajo de Netflix que con apenas seis episodios hayan podido ser capaces de contar una de las historias más interesantes y vastas de este mundo de las drogas de toda la historia.

For example, Netflix's Narcos seems to me the worst thing ever made because you can't put a Brazilian to speak paisa, typical accent of Medellin, it's nonsense and totally loses the "magic" of what that character was. Want to see a good series of Pablo Escobar? - Look for Caracol TV's El Patrón del Mal. But back here, Griselda Blanco was a woman born in Medellin so the fact that Sofia Vergara has decided to give voice and body to this criminal has a little more sense. We are facing a good work of Netflix that with only six episodes they have been able to tell one of the most interesting and vast stories of this world of drugs in history.

¿Quién fue entonces Griselda? - obviamente esto no puede ser considerado spoiler ya que es una historia basada en un personaje real. Esta mujer nació en Medellín y fue allá en donde comenzó a estar en el mundo de las drogas al estar con hombres metidos en estos negocios. Después de tener un problema serio con uno de ellos decide escapar con sus hijos a Miami creyendo que de esa manera se solucionaría todo pero nada fue más alejado de la realidad. Ella siempre fue una mujer que sabía lo que quería, estaba cansada de tener que rendirles cuentas a los hombres y por primera vez en su vida buscaba ser independiente, al precio que fuese necesario. Fue entonces como empujada por la necesidad empezó a nadar en aguas turbulentas, se consiguió tiburones, por supuesto, pero ella nunca se echó para atrás.

Who was Griselda then? - Obviously this cannot be considered a spoiler since it is a story based on a real character. This woman was born in Medellin and it was there where she started to be in the world of drugs by being with men involved in this business. After having a serious problem with one of them, she decided to escape with her children to Miami, believing that this would solve everything, but nothing was further from reality. She was always a woman who knew what she wanted, she was tired of having to be accountable to men and for the first time in her life she wanted to be independent, at any cost. It was then that, driven by necessity, she began to swim in troubled waters, she got sharks, of course, but she never backed down.

Con carácter pero con más miedo todavía, comenzó a codearse y a sumergirse en este universo de lo ilegal con la finalidad de llegar a ser alguien importante, lo que ella tenía en mente era ser la que pudiera controlar toda la droga en Miami. Evidentemente le costó, tuvo que hacerse respetar muchas veces pero con una frialdad y malicia tipica de estos personajes logró escalar al punto de ser la fundadora del infame Cartel de Medellín y llegar a patrocinar a nada más y nada menos que a Pablo Escobar. Esta miniserie narra cómo fue ese ascenso, su llegada a la cima y su caída. Todo en seis capítulos. Puede parecer poco, la verdad lo es, pero nunca se sintió apresurado y esto es gracias a la forma en como fue contada la historia.

With character but with even more fear, she began to hobnob and immerse herself in this illegal universe with the aim of becoming someone important, what she had in mind was to be the one who could control all the drugs in Miami. Evidently it cost her, she had to make herself respected many times but with a coldness and malice typical of these characters she managed to climb to the point of being the founder of the infamous Medellin Cartel and to sponsor nothing more and nothing less than Pablo Escobar. This miniseries tells the story of her rise, her rise to the top and her fall. All in six chapters. It may not seem like much, it really is, but it never felt rushed and this is thanks to the way the story was told.

Resalto dos cosas. La primera es todo lo que tiene que ver con lo visual. La ambientación, vestuario, paleta de colores, fotografía, la cinematografía en general. Hay que tener en cuenta que esto fue en los años 80 por lo que la estética es muy particular, cuando se hace algo de esta época todo estos detalles que les mencioné hay que saberlos plasmar y cuidar muy bien porque son parte de la esencia de la historia. Colores pasteles, mucho neón y lentejuelas; peinados muy característicos; la verdad es que fue como ver una producción hecha en aquellos años. Y bueno, como ya comenté. la fotografía es espectacular, cada encuadre, cada escena y plano está muy bien logrado, sin dudas de lo mejor de todo.

I highlight two things. The first is everything that has to do with the visuals. The setting, costumes, color palette, photography, cinematography in general. Keep in mind that this was in the 80's so the aesthetics is very particular, when you do something of this era all these details that I mentioned you have to know how to capture and take care of them very well because they are part of the essence of the story. Pastel colors, lots of neon and sequins; very characteristic hairstyles; the truth is that it was like watching a production made in those years. And well, as I already mentioned, the photography is spectacular, every frame, every scene and shot is very well done, undoubtedly the best of all.

Y lo segundo a destacar es todo lo que envuelve a Sofía Vergara. Empezando por el maquillaje que para mi estuvo a la altura haciéndola una persona totalmente distinta y terminando por la interpretación. Ponerse en los zapatos de estos personajes es complicado porque no hay muchas referencias, todo es con base a entrevistas y relatos por lo que llegar a conocer a alguien con solo esos elementos es un trabajo nada sencillo y arriesgado. Creo que la actuacion de Sofía fue increíble, le inyectó momentos de furia, ira, desesperación, drama, sexuales, paranoia, etc, que sinceramente hicieron que el personaje se volviera más profundo del que se podía esperar. Toda la series fue ella, el peso de la trama cayó en sus hombros y ella lo cargó sin problemas.

And the second thing to highlight is everything that involves Sofia Vergara. Starting with the makeup that for me was up to par making her a totally different person and ending with the interpretation. Putting yourself in the shoes of these characters is complicated because there are not many references, everything is based on interviews and stories, so getting to know someone with only these elements is not an easy and risky job. I think Sofia's acting was incredible, she injected moments of fury, anger, desperation, drama, sexual, paranoia, etc, that honestly made the character become deeper than you could expect. The whole series was her, the weight of the plot fell on her shoulders and she carried it flawlessly.

Hay escenas crudas en donde se ven asesinatos, claro consumo de drogas y otras en donde lo sexual también está presente, de todo un poco. Eso si, todo muy bien hecho, no vi nada de mala calidad. El elenco también es bueno, me sorprendió ver a Christian Tappan, este actor apareció en la serie de Pablo Escobar que les mencioné antes haciendo de su hermano, un actor que sin dudas conoce todo este trasfondo. Y bueno hasta Karol G tuvo su momento. Una buena miniserie, muy digna, le doy un 8/10. Creo que está muy bien hecha y se disfruta bastante a pesar de ser una historia más de narcos de las miles que ya hay. Disponible en Netflix. Les dejo el trailer por acá.

Everything is very well done, I didn't see anything of bad quality. The cast is also good, I was surprised to see Christian Tappan, this actor appeared in the Pablo Escobar series I mentioned before playing his brother, an actor who undoubtedly knows all this background. And well, even Karol G had her moment. A good miniseries, very worthy, I give it an 8/10.
