La realidad es que la mayoría de los anime son historia extrañas y bizarras envueltas en una fantasía que conforme vamos mirando más extraño nos va pareciendo todo. Y esta bien porque para mi esa esa la verdadera esencia de un anime disfrutable. Jigokuraku es exactamente eso, una historia que combina la maldad inherente en el humano con las cosas más bellas que pueden existir en el mundo como lo es la propia naturaleza que a su vez es corrompida por esta malicia que habita en nuestra raza. Para mi ha sido uno de los animes más raros que he visto, no es difícil eso pero la verdad es que cuando te adentras en la trama te das cuenta de lo (sinsentido?!) que puede llegar a ser.

The reality is that most anime are strange and bizarre stories wrapped in a fantasy that as we watch it, the stranger it all seems to us. And that's okay because for me that's the true essence of an enjoyable anime. Jigokuraku is exactly that, a story that combines the inherent evil in humans with the most beautiful things that can exist in the world as nature itself is corrupted by this malice that inhabits our race. For me it has been one of the strangest anime I've seen, it's not hard that but the truth is that when you get into the plot you realize how (nonsense?!) it can be.

Esto quiere decir que es malo o de baja calidad? - para nada, creo que es una joya que merece ser vista por todos los que sean entusiastas y fanáticos. Y es que lo tiene todo, buenas animaciones, una historia extraña pero que engancha, personajes bastante interesantes y si, violencia, mucha violencia. No se porque pero noté varias similitudes con respecto a otros animes o mangas, supongo que son elementos que tienden a repetirse pero si hubo unas pequeñas cosas que por lo menos en fondo, no tanto en forma, se me parecieron conocidas. Pero nada, hablemos un poco más de esta curiosa historia llena de asesinos y flores.

Does this mean it is bad or of low quality? - Not at all, I think it is a jewel that deserves to be seen by all enthusiasts and fans. And it has it all, good animations, a strange but engaging story, interesting characters and yes, violence, lots of violence. I don't know why but I noticed several similarities with respect to other anime or manga, I guess they are elements that tend to repeat themselves but there were some little things that at least in substance, not so much in form, seemed familiar to me. But nothing, let's talk a little more about this curious story full of assassins and flowers.

Esta historia comienza con Gamibaru quien es un poderoso shinobi o ninja el cual pertenencia a un clan pero fue expulsado/traicionado ya que no quería seguir en la línea de lo que venía haciendo. Es un tipo con un poder extraordinario y entrenado para ser una persona completamente vacía y sin sentimientos por lo que matarlo no es cosa sencilla. La realidad es que eso de no tener sentimientos no es tan verdad porque muy a lo interno siente un amor profundo por su esposa la cual es su motor. Debido a esto una verdugo de nombre Yamada Asaemon Sagiri le ofrece una oportunidad de ser expiado de sus pecados y faltas y es que tiene que ir a cierta isla a buscar el elixir de la vida eterna.

This story begins with Gamibaru who is a powerful shinobi or ninja who belongs to a clan but was expelled / betrayed because he did not want to continue in the line of what he had been doing. He is a guy with extraordinary power and trained to be a completely empty and unfeeling person, so killing him is not an easy thing to do. The reality is that the fact that he has no feelings is not so true because deep inside he feels a deep love for his wife who is his driving force. Because of this an executioner named Yamada Asaemon Sagiri offers him a chance to be atoned for his sins and faults and he has to go to a certain island to find the elixir of eternal life.

El detalle es que aquella isla es especial porque que los que van no regresan. Gamibaru junto a una serie de asesinos quienes también buscan el perdón, todos custodiados por verdugos que están bajo el mando de las autoridades, se embarcan rumbo a aquel lugar sin saber los horrores que encontrarían. Resulta que hay una cantidad absurda de criaturas vivas que están fusionadas con todo tipo de fauna y flora cuya intención es matar a todo aquel que pise dicha isla y que a su vez están bajo el control de los **Tensen**, unos seres extraordinarios. El plan es sobrevivir a todo eso y regresar con lo pedido. Es aquí donde la historia se comienza a poner turbia y peligrosa.

The detail is that that island is special because those who go there do not return. Gamibaru together with a series of assassins who also seek forgiveness, all guarded by executioners who are under the command of the authorities, embark to that place without knowing the horrors they would find. It turns out that there is an absurd amount of living creatures that are fused with all kinds of fauna and flora whose intention is to kill anyone who steps on the island and that in turn are under the control of the Tensen, some extraordinary beings. The plan is to survive all of this and return with what has been ordered. It is here where the story begins to get murky and dangerous.

De las cosas que más me llaman la atención a la hora de ver un anime es su animación, para mi siempre tiene que ser lo más realista posible para que así sea más disfrutable. Este anime no escapa de las tipicas peleas, mutilaciones, decapitaciones y laceraciones en el cuerpo como tampoco de las altas velocidades y del siempre confiable slow motion. Al ser una historia en donde los ninjas o espadachines abundan es lo que más veremos. Esa combinación de lo fantasioso de las criaturas llenas de flores asesinas y raíces venenosas con el aspecto más tradicional de la cultura japonesa como lo son los clanes, el shogunato y los propios verdugos y toda la interacción que entre ellos hay es de lo más top de la historia. Ver a un samurái pelear con una flor gigante es surreal pero increíble.

One of the things that catch my attention when watching an anime is its animation, for me it always has to be as realistic as possible to make it more enjoyable. This anime does not escape from the typical fights, mutilations, decapitations and lacerations on the body as well as the high speeds and the always reliable slow motion. Being a story where ninjas or swordsmen abound is what we will see the most. That combination of the fantasy of the creatures full of killer flowers and poisonous roots with the more traditional aspect of Japanese culture such as the clans, the shogunate and the executioners themselves and all the interaction between them is the top of the story. Watching a samurai fight a giant flower is surreal but incredible.

Otros de los aspectos a destacar es el factor humano y el de los propios **Tensen**. Los personajes al ser en su mayoría asesinos vemos como hay una cierta falta de humanidad en ellos, el anime en general lo rodea una especie de aura oscura en donde las cosas buenas se ven poco. Mucho egoísmo, interés propio, odio sin ningún tipo de razón son algunos de los sentimientos que se ven acá, los **Tensen** son seres completamente rotos, no tienen nada de afinidad ni luz en su interior y ver esa lucha con aquellos que buscan, en cierta medida, hacer el "bien" que tanto le hace falta a aquel lugar también es interesante. Si me lo preguntan el verdadero motor de todos los personajes es el INTERÉS, todos luchan por algo que más allá de beneficiarlos a todos es en pro personal.

Other aspects to highlight is the human factor and that of the Tensen themselves. The characters being mostly murderers we see how there is a certain lack of humanity in them, the anime in general is surrounded by a kind of dark aura where good things are rarely seen. A lot of selfishness, self-interest, hatred without any reason are some of the feelings that are seen here, the Tensen are completely broken beings, they have no affinity or light inside them and to see that struggle with those who seek, to some extent, to do the "good" that is so lacking in that place is also interesting. If you ask me, the real driving force of all the characters is INTEREST, they all fight for something that beyond benefiting them all is for their personal benefit.

Los personajes son top. Cada uno tiene una personalidad y una manera de actuar que los diferencia mucho del resto. Gamibaru tiene una conflicto existencial porque no quiere seguir matando ni nada por el estilo pero el amor por su esposa es más potente, de allí a que siempre saca energía de donde no la tiene para terminar un combate, su objetivo el volver a ver a su mujer, no le importa más nada. Sagiri es todo lo que está bien de la historia, siempre correcta y buscando dar los pasos justos pero también tiene sus fantasmas que muchas veces la frenan en su afán de querer ser mejor y alguien más importante. Hay historias interesantes como la de maestro Shion o Yuzuriha, otra de aquel grupo de asesinos. Al final es un grupo muy variado de personalidades.

The characters are top. Each one has a personality and a way of acting that differentiates them from the rest. Gamibaru has an existential conflict because he doesn't want to keep killing or anything like that but his love for his wife is more powerful, hence he always takes energy from where he doesn't have it to finish a fight, his goal is to see his wife again, he doesn't care about anything else. Sagiri is everything that is right in the story, always correct and looking to take the right steps but also has her ghosts that often stop her in her eagerness to be better and someone more important. There are interesting stories like that of master Shion or Yuzuriha, another of that group of assassins. In the end it is a very varied group of personalities.

Le doy un 7.7/10, es un anime muy extraño pero su historia es fascinante. Como dije tiene cosas muy parecidas a lo que se ve en Attack On Titan o el mismo Dragon Ball pero no deja de ser algo muy bueno e ver. Son 13 capítulos de esta primera temporada. Decir que la segunda ya está confirmada y se espera para el año que viene. El tráiler se los dejo abajo.

I give it an 7.7/10, it is a very strange anime but its story is fascinating. As I said it has things very similar to what is seen in Attack On Titan or Dragon Ball itself but it is still something very good to watch. There are 13 chapters of this first season. The second season is already confirmed and is expected for next year. The trailer is below.
